Eve of AMC Fearfest
This is the first time I have posted on this site and I have a lot to say. First of all,for the past few weeks I have been following everyone's comments on Fearfest and have read some great insights. I used to post on the old AMC Monsterfest boards years back and nothing has really changed. People are still complaining about Monsterfest or Fearfest, whatever you want to call it. I used to complain about it,but I had to realize with all the schedule's flaws it is the ONLY horror/sci-fi/fantasy marathon in town. Sure I cringe at the thought of seeing "Pinata:Survival Island" come on the screen, but that is when I pop my own DVD in of something else. I don't think people shouldn't voice their opinions to AMC,but lets do it in a suggestive and constructive way. I would hate to see Fearfest be pulled off the schedule because of too much complaining.Personally,I would like to see more classic horror like Universal's or Hammer's ,but there is some . I think my favorite Monsterfest was in 2000and I will post that schedule of that year and I would like to hear what everyone thinks of those films. In the meantime lets just enjoy Fearfest and have a great Halloween!

Hey I completely agree Im one that definitely complain's alot because im not satisfied with the lineup but your right even though monsterfest isn't here anymore they still air a week of horror flicks. Although im not happy with the whole lineup they are airing some of my movies that I wanted to see. Classics such as Curse of Frankenstein, House of Frankenstein etc. My favorite Monsterfest was Monsterfest 2000 "where the classics" come alive best year ever hands down! lol It was really the best schedule. Linda Blair And Whoopi were great hosts! I also agree that their should be more Universal Horror flicks and Hammar Horror but maybe next year they will air more! So fearfest looks pretty cool it reminds me alot like monsterfest 2000 where in between movies they would show commercials in a morgue. Do you have any of Monsterfest 2000 on tape??
It's such a shame because a few years back around this time of year channels such as Scifi and USA network and of course the old amc were great because they aired the old horror flicks. USA was more slasher with the halloween movies and prom night but it was still awesome! Now on usa your lucky if they air any horror flicks at all!
I have some of Monsterfest 2000 on tape. I need to transfer it to dvd before it before it becomes unwatchable. I agree MF 2000 was indeed the best one imo. I actually have a bunch of horror movies I need to transfer. Basically all of the Universal Monsters and a few Hammer movies.
Anyways, Fearfest is here and I'm sure it will go by too fast as always. Enjoy.
Over the last twenty plus years the American media, and in particular the American film industry, have mercilessly demonized Halloween. What was a magical, children’s holiday has been denigrated into a murder fest.
I see by your program schedule that again this year you have chosen to join ranks with the dark side of The Force, to sell fear and degradation as easily as one might sell cotton candy.
Like serpentine megalomaniacs you spread your poison without restraint, without conscience, without the slightest hint of civility or culture.
Where did you find the folks who do your programming? In a cave in Afghanistan?
I say, send them back to the Stone Age where they can do the only two things they know how to do: draw stick figures and slaughter people.
Thanks for the laugh.
Hey disciple when you have a chance can you possibly put the movies that you taped from amc monsterfest 2000 on here, because I was wondering if you could possibly put them on a few discs and sell them to me I would love to buy them it would bring back great memories from that time! (Yes people that year was really excellent!) I only have a few movies taped from it and I mean only a few but if you you don't want to make extra copies to sell them that's cool just asking anyway!
I agree "don't make em", USA used to be awesome for horror. I have mentioned a couple times about how I remember back when I was younger they would show Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play marathons all the time, and Halloween 1 and 2 and other slashers like you mentioned were on there as well. They used to be really big on Halloween, and then for whatever reason they have pretty much abandoned it now. They have shown some horror in past years like Frailty and others, but I don't even think they are showing any this year. Very disappointing.
I totally agree with everyone here, i would have rather seen some Vincent Price's, Dr. Phibbs movies, those are classic horror, and then also seeing the same movies over and over again, is ridiculous, i mean i like all of the movies they have shown, but only show them once, and give some actual classic movies a chance to be seen
IT''S A JOKE THIS YEAR....I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY HAVE THIS LINE-UP THIS YEAR...BORING
Yeah yeah yeah, whatever? Ok thanks AMC for tossing us a bone and giving us what 8-days of what I would call lame horror movies. Thank God for Fuse TV, TCM, SCFI, and Bravo and many others, which played GREAT classic horror movies! Now come on people we have seen The Omen, The Exorcist, Friday the 13th many times on AMC during the year, so why they choose not to air these I have no clue? Then Halloween night NO Halloween 1 & 2 movies? Good Lord! That’s like not airing The Ten Commandments at Easter?
I am sorry to be so critical but don’t you think this is why AMC has a Blog to get the opinion of their viewers. We are allowed to Bitch and complain! Hey we our paying for cable to watch AMC!
One person wrote that we should stop our Bitching because AMC may pull the plug. Please!
You are never ever going to make Fear Fest perfect but there is always room for improvement. This is why we Blog! Also, as I stating in the beginning of this email there are plenty of other networks which rocked this Halloween. I didn’t even watch AMC on Halloween and I had the day off for a party.
On another note why couldn’t AMC go all the way thru-Sunday with horror since Halloween fell on a Friday? Plenty of people would have still watched thru Sunday… I know this for a fact.
In the end, I do thank AMC for giving us Fear Fest. I have no issue with the name change. A matter of fact I sort of dig it. I do look forward to this each and every year and yes I do surf, scan and alarm. BUT, there is always room for improvement.
Thank you!
