Talk: Horror Hacker: October 2008
Am new to this forum and would love help finding a movie. I unfortunately only saw part of it on tv few years ago (may have been scifi channel). I remember a fenced in backyard? someone climbs over the fence to discover what looks like a cabbage patch, think the "cabbages" were covered in cloth. when they uncover the "cabbage" turns out to be moving human head? would really appreciate the help. thanks!

In the last month or so all I keep reading on here is hatred and displeasure about the films being shown on FearFest and the lack of variety. Certainly, AMC/Rainbow Media could have added a few extra films to avoid heavy repeats, but in an economy that's slumping, believe it or not, even the television networks are feeling the crunch. It's not just Wall Street.

WTF!!!!!! This year is it for me. What a let down. I looked forward to this all year and outside of maybe two black and whites thrown as a bone at like 2am that was about it. How many times can one watch Constantine???? Like someone else mentioned you have the capability of making this a huge event. Make it campy get an Elvira type host, show the classics. Don't say it has to do with copy right etc etc. How many b movies are out there ???? So many choices I am sure their are under lying issues that the general public does not know, but come on. I mean I m sure that me not watching anymore will not effect the numbers. Maybe in the long run the more people drop off the less ad space can be sold. You have a way to rope in more viewers and increase revenue but how the higher ups can't see that is beyond me. Let me know when you guys get it together. In the meantime thank goodness for netflix.

From reading some of the previous posts I have come to find that many people feel the same way about FearFest 08 that I do; IT SUCKS!! MonsterFest was great. They played, for the most part, great classic horror films that were entertaining to watch and really got me in the Halloween mood. However this year i can't even watch FrightFest.

I have looked forward to Monsterfest since it began. Not only does the name change bother me but the programming is certainly not what it should be. Jeepers Creepers once maybe but that's it.......What about having a Halloween Marathon on Halloween Day? The original Halloween and even part two would be great. I will not tune in to "Fearfest" next year. Sci-Fi Channel has better horror movies than this.

This is the first time I have posted on this site and I have a lot to say. First of all,for the past few weeks I have been following everyone's comments on Fearfest and have read some great insights. I used to post on the old AMC Monsterfest boards years back and nothing has really changed. People are still complaining about Monsterfest or Fearfest, whatever you want to call it. I used to complain about it,but I had to realize with all the schedule's flaws it is the ONLY horror/sci-fi/fantasy marathon in town. Sure I cringe at the thought of seeing "Pinata:Survival Island" come on the screen, but that is when I pop my own DVD in of something else. I don't think people shouldn't voice their opinions to AMC,but lets do it in a suggestive and constructive way. I would hate to see Fearfest be pulled off the schedule because of too much complaining.Personally,I would like to see more classic horror like Universal's or Hammer's ,but there is some . I think my favorite Monsterfest was in 2000and I will post that schedule of that year and I would like to hear what everyone thinks of those films. In the meantime lets just enjoy Fearfest and have a great Halloween!

Wow, I'm totally disappointed in the lack of variety for FearFest. I could care less for the name change, that doesn't bother me, but I just feel like the nostalgia of MonsterFests in years past is lost on this one. What happened to all the classics? I'm totally bummed by Constantine, only because FX has already worn it out. I feel like I'll be watching the same movies over and over again all week. Guess I'll just have to Netflix all my favorites this time around.

Hello there.. a Horror movie last time i saw it was more than 15 years ago but i still have it in my mind even the musics!! anybody should know it if he saw it before.. it's about an alien witch have a face looks like a pig (I think!) when he kills some one he take his head of and use his victim's head, then when he kills another one he use the other victim's head!
in another scene (I still remember this) he kills a man then put on his head then opens a fridge and eat an egg with the shell...mmm hope this one helps :P
There is another movie witch i remember only 2 scenes :( , the first scene is some kind of a gas chamber with man inside being executed by a gas taking his skin off (ewww), the other scene is a born baby that crys then suddenly stop crying and got a snake tongue out from his mouth !! i think this all happens in some kind of a spaceship?? (I believe)
Hope you guys help me with this,,, THX alot :P

On Halloween night, I will have the dubious honor of accompanying a group of marching band students on an overnight trip. The age range is from 14-18, so it's probably best that our viewing not include too much gore, plus there's the fact that many in the group belong to religious organizations which frown on gratuitous violence. I certainly don't want to be the one to corrupt them!!
I have a few titles in mind, but what are some of YOUR favorites? The schlockier, the better!

Moving away from bad-mouthing AMC, I was just wondering if anybody else records some of the movies from MonsterFest on their DVR??? I hope I'm not the only ONE! I still have Friday the 13th (DVD on TV version) from Monsterfest '05.

I agree that there is enough griping at AMC for the movie choices this year, but was the name change really necessary? Monsterfest has become more than a tradition for me, but the high point of my year. Coming home from school and catching as much of Children of the Corn as I could before work is one of countless memories associated with AMC's Monsterfest. I'm not going to go as far as to boycott this year, but I'm sure 90% of people who wait all year for this TV event would appreciate the title of MONSTERFEST back. I mean FEARFEST? C'mon AMC.
I am appauled at the Mad Men and Breaking Bad interruptions. I know Mad Men is creating quite a fuss, but to the viewers who feel like me, this feels like sacriledge. Its understood that nothing can be done about this year, but PLEASE AMC, PLEASE return to the roots and make next year as nostalgic and perfect as the years before. This year I can deal, but two? I might have to empty out the Horror section of blockbuster if MONSTERFEST doesn't return to its roots and fans.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate how you make time for horror fans like me every time a year,
but Constantine? c'mon.
Have a Happy Halloween,
-Automatic Stop.

Ok, I do agree that enough is enough slamming AMC for their chooses of movies, and time span of Fear Fest, and name change. I love Fear Fest and each year look forward to it no matter what they air. It's just wonderful having the opt to tune in your TV and view horror during this month of October. As other people in this Blog have stated, just for the background noise is fun. I myself have to admit that AMC is doing their best and not all the movies are so bad! Each year they do shack it up a bit and each year we complain. But lets face it; at least we our Fear Fest so lets enjoy it. There are other networks such as Fearnet and Scfi who are also airing lots of horror that we can tune into.
Some people feel we shouldn't complain. I strongly disagree. AMC wouldn't have a Blog if they didn't want to hear our views. In addition, we have every right to complain Bitch etc. We pay for AMC in our cable bill. TV is no longer free people and we do have the right and say so, especially when it comes to AMC, TNT, TCM, etc. These are all standard cable channels, unlike movie channels.
Now for the BUT! When I looked at the AMC Fear Fest schedule and saw that they are sticking Med Men in our FEAR FEST, now I am angry! Then Panic Room? OMG!
Now, this is not playing fair AMC...Are you really losing money or are you this greedy that you just cant give us 24/7-10 straight days?
One final note... I still thank you AMC. I am always excited each year to check in for Fear Fest! Please keep this Fear Fest going!
Signed, The Queen of Scream
Happy Halloween,
Michael,
Jason
Freddy too.

In my first 2 years of college, my roommate and I would skip a whole week of class just to sit in our dorm and watch Monsterfest. I started dating and fell in love with my finance the following year during Monsterfest while she was nursing me back to heath from a stomach virus. Those were awesome times, now looking forward to our 2nd anniversary we are in utter shock over this line-up of movies. Where are the originals? (Dracula,Wolfman, Creature from Black Lagoon, Frankenstein) How am I suppose to fall asleep at 3:00am after a full day of gore with Jason, Michael Myers, Freddy, Chucky and our ol' pal the crypt keeper, without a little does Boris Karloff, or Bela Lugosi?
They don't even have the best Friday the 13th's Aka the first 4. Anything after that is just pointless. How many times do we have to watch Jamie run from her uncle in Halloween 4 and 5? Just play them once along with The first, second, put the third in the blender and hit destroy. Add H20 to the list as well for ones to play. I can see having only one Nightmare on Elm St. because the rest just make you want to giggle at Freddy for his dark humor.
I know I could just change the channel but come on this has become a tradition to most. How many people can say that the one thing they look forward to in the year is AMC's Monsterfest the takes place the 10 days before Halloween?
I don't mean to bitch and moan, but this line-up we have in stored for us isn't even B-level. Go back to the basics and just have the fans vote on a poll and make the schedule. That way we can't complain about it.

I'm not super thrilled with the lineup this year either. The name seems completely pointless, and if it's such a big deal to the fans here I see no reason not to change it back.
What really gets me here is the out new schedule. The 22nd through the 31st? That's nowhere near enough time. Honestly I look forward to this every year and the fact that we've got so little time is just sad to me. AMC, please, do it proper next year.

Look I'm not a complainer and I never post on these things, but the lineup this year compelled me to say something, Every year I look forward to AMC's movies on Halloween, but these year I'm really disappointed. Not all of the movies they picked were bad but some just don't belong. Having partial movies of out a series (Halloween,Nightmare on Elm St) or completely omitting some of the classics just stinks. (by classics I mean Friday the 13th etc.) I'm sure the AMC people thought it would be a good idea to switch it up a bit but I believe most of us love the classics. Some suggestions would be to bring back such movies like Friday the 13th, Children of the Corn, Hellraisers, and even older less seen classics like Play Misty for Me. Please, please, please switch it back next year to the old movies and keep the original classics and play all the series.......That would be great!!!

I keep reading how bad AMC is because of the MonsterFest line-up. In the beginning, I too, got upset about the name change and the choice of movies AMC choose. However, I decided to just deal with it and not complain anymore or boycott/protest AMC FearFest. Just like what King Malice said, if u don't like a movie AMC FearFest is playing during Halloween, change the channel. Most of us, if not all of us, have great memories of the Halloween holiday because of MonsterFest, and I'm pretty sure we'll have GREAT memories this year.. I'm actually curious about some of the movies showing on AMC FearFest, like Willard and Constantine (even though I complained about them in the beginning). The promos for Constantine/AMC FearFest didn't look half bad. The schedule is already set in stone, so just deal with it and enjoy AMC FearFest!!!

If your feeling nostalgic I found these both enjoyable and sad how good the lineup was, but I still have faith in AMC and I cant wait to see what next year brings...

Just this morning I decided to check out the slate of movies for AMC's movie "Monsterfest" which I usually do about this time of year, for who doesn't like a good horror flick around Halloween time? Much to my dismay, when I came to the AMC website, I saw Monsterfest was not even Monsterfest, but it was renamed: AMC Fearfest 08'. The change in name, I have no problem with, but the reduction of the movie-playing time down to a week does rub me the wrong way.

Heritage Auction is having a Music and Entertainment auction October 4-6th 2008. There are some really neat things going up for auction such as the script from "Young Frankenstein". There is the Boris Karloff estate with many candid pictures of him on set. A huge painting of Bela Lugosi that would look good on any horror enthusiast wall.
Check it out here

Does anyone desire to see the ultimate classic chiller Phantasm?
I know I do! How come no TV/Cable networks air this very creepy atmospheric moody chiller? I think is a super bloodcurdling classic? Yes, maybe a little dated for the younger audiences, but totally worth seeing.
The sequels were totally lame in my opinion but this 1979 original rocked!
Maybe you had to be 12 and a late 70's child to love this horror flick.
Does anyone feel the same way I do? Has anyone ever seen it on TV?
Thanks!
Queen of Scream xoxo

This is coming in response to the ridiculous and unintentionally funny complaining I've seen both here and on the main blog page. I wrote the same thing on the main page, but I have to post this twice, as I think I've finally snapped. Honestly, I've held my tongue long enough on these people that keep coming and whining about every little thing. Here's the thing people, AMC DOES look at everyone's comments. Case in point, the blog writers put out a statement regarding the blog's name change after a rash of more idiotic and pointless complaints about the blog's name change, as if that mattered at all. Because they do look at our comments, they see complaints like this every year, and they do try to accommodate us however they can. Here's the big kicker, when you guys come on here and complain every year no matter how good Monsterfest may or may not be, they are going to try to change things. Monsterfest X was one of the best Monsterfests of all time, they mixed up classic and modern horror after years of playing mostly modern movies, and they expanded it to a 24/7 marathon. Still, after all that, people complained. Here's what could be seen, just like every year...
"There's not enough old-school horror"
"Friday the 13th movies? How lame!"

I am not someone who ordinarily watches television. But for the duration of Monsterfest, and often times Fear Friday, I am tuned in and rarely, if ever, turn my television set off of change the channel as long as its on. I've always found it to be one of the better parts of AMC's schedule. But this year, seeing the line-up and associated name change, I no longer feel the same kind of call to watch it, particularly not all of it.
