Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid of AMC Fearfest '09

AMC Fearfest '09 casts a ghastly pall online for the entire month of October, and on-air from Oct. 23 to 31. (And that's a good thing!) For online horror fans, that means 31 days of B-movies, freaky tournaments, and challenging quizzes. For TV addicts, that promises nine days of round-the-clock programming including the world television premiere of the digitally restored version of George Romero's classic Night of the Living Dead on Halloween night. The end of life as you know it has never looked so good. Dying for AMC Fearfest to begin? Today's your day.

If you have Comcast cable with OnDemand, they are airing THEY BEST horror movies for Halloween.
Over 80 classics which should been seen on AMC, and not have to be paid $2.99 per movie!
Basically all AMC did was to air the very same movies they have been airing all season long, along with Fear Friday. Not very original and caring to their loyal Fear Fest/Monster Fest Viewers! I myself can watch the standard classics, such as Frida...y the 13th 1 & 2, Carrie, The Omen, The Exorcist (1st one!) etc etc…, over and over again. Now, these are Halloween movies and should be seen. It’s only once a year and watching these thru-October just makes it much more fun and enjoyable. 15 movies are worth seeing out of this AMC list and I was being generous! Also, keep in mind; they will be airing the same movies, over and over and over again! And, what is up with Piñata Island???!!! Yikes!Read More
I have been "paying attention" to AMC's HorrorFest (now FearFest) for the last 10 years (i think its been 10 years), and it has grown increasingly pathetic. IT used to be MUCH better because they weren't afraid to show older and and obscurer films (anyone ever remember seeing Spanish Dracula?).
Now it seems all they do is roll out what they did the year before, and revamp a little.....but after seeing this years lineup it was all i could do to stifle a yawn. When is AMC going to get back to showing ALL the classics.....all the "B-Movies".....and improve their listings for this event. I look forward to this every year, and I am continuously disappointed in their lack of creativity and vision...
Anyone have nominations for what they SHOULD be showing?
Surveyah, I agree with you entirely! I wish they would bring back the B-Movies, because that's all its about! All the Horror/Monster Classics. I was a big Monsterfest fan. Movies like Godzilla, The Fly, The Giant Mantis, Gorgo, Nosferatu, Them!, I could go on. This year's schedule has some good films, but you have not won me much at all!
I totally agree with you on the B-Movies. I do love the old original classics. How about some old Vampire and werewolf movies. All this talk about B-movies I think I will break out with my 20 movie pack featuring Vampires & More and watch " Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride " staring Christopher Lee. OK, AMC let's get with-it you heard from your fans here and what we want to see. Hey, does any one remember " Chiller Theater " chilly billy? here is a web site....great show back in the days.

You might want to check out the b-movies AMCtv has online -- click on videos from the top nav bar, then on b-movies (you may have to scroll down a little) and then on the horror tab. We just added Fiend Without a Face and Werewolves on Wheels.
As to Chilly Billy Cardille, let's not forget that he was in Night of the Living Dead: He's the guy at the end who says "beat 'em or burn 'em... they go up pretty easy." And his daughter, Laurie Cardille, was the female lead in Dawn of the Dead. Remember, George Romero was a Pittsburgh boy through and through.
I, on the other hand, grew up with New York's Chiller Theater. No host, but a great clay-animated opening sequence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asO97gdn2oo
Great movie knowledge to know, cause I didn't know that his daughter starred. I checked out the NY link I like that. Oh, and for the ones that get bored watching AMC, then try the TMC channel with there Thrillers in Oct. Dishnetwork CH: 132. Here is a link http://www.tcm.com/thismonth/article.jsp?cid=253073 Boris Karloff and some other greats.

Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Frank Langella, Peter Lorre, Christopher Lee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE WANT MONSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been checking the listings daily looking for monsters. No monsters. Can't find any on TCM listed either, except for the middle of the night when decent folk are trying to sleep so they can work the next day. AMC used to be the place to go for the golden age of Hollywood, but not anymore, not in a long time. I wound up here because Halloween is on the way, I want my monster fix, and wound up looking around online for some place where I can watch the good stuff. Don't see it listed here, either. Off to try sites like hulu and fancast.
