Attention Horror Geeks: The Ultimate Vampire-Zombie Throwdown in Last Blood
Vampires and zombies are enjoying peak popularity these days, a trend that doesn't look to be dying down anytime soon. (Get it? 'Cause they can't die?) So it only makes sense that some enterprising talent would end up pitting the species against each other, a la Freddy and Jason. In Bobby and Chris Crosby's comic Last Blood, neck-biter does battle with brain-muncher in the wake of a zombie massacre that managed to kill off most of mankind. It's a post-apocalyptic story with a twist: The vampires have to keep the remaining humans alive in order to feed on their blood. (The vampire-as-protector motif sure is trendy these days, thanks to Twilight.)
Still, as cool as the comic may be--and it is indeed cool--it can't compare to seeing vampires beat down zombies on the big screen. Luckily for its fans, the comic has been optioned by A History of Violence producers Chris Bender and J.C. Spinks, who have enlisted Family Guy executive producer David A. Goodman to pen the screenplay. Will this oddball creative pairing produce the next tongue-in-cheek horror hit, or the next Underworld: Rise of the Lycans? Here's hoping it's the former.

I haven't heard of Last Blood. (looks like there are a lot of things I need to catch up on) but one thing I do love is b...rains, err uh zombies... So i'll have to check this one out.
You can't beat zombies versus vampires. Here's hoping Last Blood leads to more monster fight pairings. Like, say, mummies versus invisible men. Now that I'd pay to see!
