Horror Power Ranking - January 5, 2009
Ah, the holidays are over. That means it back to the business of scaring the bejeezus out of people. This week marks the release of the first horror movie of 2009, The Unborn, and we couldn't be more excited. If that weren't enough, My Bloody Valentine 3D looks to be good, bloody fun. And, you guys have some great ideas about a new Body Snatchers. So let's get into it:

The Unborn Yes, yes, I keep flip-flopping here, but The Unborn is getting a major publicity push (commercials on TV, oh, every five minutes), and more than that, it looks really good. Intelligent, fun, classic style horror? I'm there. |

My Bloody Valentine 3D The only thing holding this movie back in my mind is: Why isn't it being released on Valentine's Day? All you had to do is wait two weeks to release, and you could be number one like The Unborn, MBV3D... |

Body Snatchers Reader David thinks the next Body Snatchers will be Internet based. Spoffk thinks Stephanie Meyer (The Host, Twilight) has it covered. And I think... Well, what I think we need is a new version of Body Snatchers... That's a comedy. Thoughts? |

Repo: The Genetic Opera! You'll have to look at number ten below to get the full picture as to why Repo has jumped back on our charts, but suffice to say, I've just heard the movie is going back on the road for a THIRD tour. The first two sold out, so get your tickets now. |

The Night Projectionist I'm kind of intrigued about this movie, which won't be released in comic book form for another month. A vampire locks in a bunch of humans watching a Dracula marathon, and begins to feed. Scream meets Twilight, anyone? |

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Underworld drops three slots, because it looks like there's actually some good horror movies coming out. And Underworld isn't a good horror movie series, it's a bad horror movie series. Good-bad, but you know what I mean. |

The Uninvited This jumps up one notch, as it's beginning to look like a campy good time. Fans of the Japanese original would kill me for saying that, but it looks like Elizabeth Banks is hamming things up, and I love me some Elizabeth Banks. |

Friday the 13th When is this coming out again? February 13th, when My Bloody Valentine 3D should be coming out? Unless Jason and company start amping me up real quick, I don't know how psyched I'll be by the time the remake rolls around. |

Attack of the Giant Leeches There are few things I just can't watch. I have no problem with dripping eyeballs (Hostel), or alien monsters (I don't know, Alien, maybe?). But I do have a problem with bugs. And that is why I will never, ever see this remake. The end. |

Lionsgate Our own Todd Brown points out what's been in the back of everybody's minds: Lionsgate is to horror, what Fox is to superhero movies. Someone needs to jump into the breach and grab these good horror movies away from the 'gate. |

I tried looking up "Uninvited" for the Asian version... thought I'd found it, but the Korean title is actually "Tale of Two Sisters"! Which was definitely a creepy movie. I may have to watch it.
Yes! A Tale of Two Sisters is excellent... However, The Uninvited departs from the film in a few major ways, that has fans of the original up in arms. But then, how is that any different from any other remake, right?
Premise for "Night Projectionist" seems very cool. A vampire with a captive audience inside a theater - more like "Scream" meets "30 Days of Night"!
