Horror Vampire Power Ranking - December 1, 2008
Hey, have you heard about this Twilight movie? You know, the one that was beat by Four Christmases at the box office this weekend, but still manages to generate an insane amount of press and moolah? In honor of Robert Pattison's super-tall hair, we're letting vampires take over the Horror Power Ranking this week, since they've already taken over Hollywood. We've got some news on a possible Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, an I Am Legend sequel and some speculation about the next big vamp franchise. This is the Vampire Power Ranking, so lets get to it, suckers:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Is there a new movie version of BtVS in the works? Let me say that no one would be happier than I if this were true, but it's not. Still, in Hollywood, rumor can cause fact, so let's keep this one going, OK? |

Twilight With another strong showing at the box office, and all the buzz still squarely in its direction, the teen vamp romance slides to the second slot only because Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the TV show that taught me how to love. |

I Am Legender Looks like the I Am Legend prequel I was so annoyed about a few weeks ago is actually going to be a sequel. A lot of the speculation online focused on the state of "returning" star Will Smith, but I say, "Who cares," and also, "Bring it, Will2K." |

Let the Right One in LtROI hangs even this week, as it continues to be a great movie; but also not really tearing it up at the box office, or in the collective unconscious. OK, hackers: how do we make this movie a big hit? | |

Suck I might have been too harsh on this vampire rock opera, judging it based on its title. But any movie that pokes fun at the idea of how becoming a vampire makes you a super cool rock star deserves a second look. Plus, Dave Foley is in it. |

House of Night AMC reader spoffk wasn't too hot on the book, but with Twilight continuing to power vampire interest in Hollywood (read: This whole list), this is definitely going to be made, and we can only hope it's scary and fun. Probably not, though. |

31 Days of Night While we're talking about vampire movies, let's talk about the unfortunate adaptation of Steve Niles' 30 Days of Night. The movie may have been botched, but there's a chance to do a fantastic follow-up. Get to it, producers. |

Dracula ...And while we're playing "speculative vampire movies," isn't there a new Dracula adaptation that gets released every few years? I haven't seen one since Dracula 2000; though I guess that's a good thing. Tyler Perry's House of Dracula, anyone? |

New Moon Why the precipitous fall for New Moon? Look above at all the vamp movies that will be coming out in the next few years. By the time this sequel comes out, we'll all be on to werewolves, or zombies, or something. |

Repo! The Genetic Opera Hey, not everything is about the bloodsuckers. Though we knock Repo! down to number ten due to not having any undead in the cast (no, Paris Hilton doesn't count), it continues to do extremely well for a limited release. Go, Repo!, go! |

Well, since New Moon is mostly about werewolves, maybe the Twilight Saga has beat us all there...
Wait, really? So it's basically "Underworld Babies"?
