Welcome to AMC Fearfest '08

amcfearfest08_325.jpg

October has arrived and with it comes the first-ever AMC Fearfest. While the on-air component of round-the-clock fright flicks (hosted by Rob Zombie) won't happen until the end of the month, you'll find plenty of online horror features from now through Halloween.

There's a tournament of scream queens, a photo tribute to Frankenstein, and four full-length movies online. With wireless, you can now watch House of Usher (1960) and Pumpkinhead (1988) whenever and wherever you want. For a quick fix, there's Movies-in-a-Minute with quick fixes of Jason Goes to Hell and Willard. For those who enjoy scaring others as much as being scared, there's a Greatest Fear Video Contest judged by Rob Zombie (The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses) and promising a $4000 prize.

I like the FearFest website... Jamie Lee is leading the Scream Queen poll and tons of videos, photos, and quizzes to last until October ends. And on the 24th FearFest kicks off on AMC with some great films... So, is Rob Zombie hosting during prime time hours or is it going to be like a few minutes of personal opinions on certain films? Just curious.

Site looks great and can't wait for the 24th. I've been complaining about the name change, but that's all behind me now. Any horror on TV is great, whether it be MonsterFest or FearFest. As long as AMC is the network bringing it to us, all is well.

Kudos to you AMC. Regardless of my feeling's about Rob's last film, he's still a great guy to host a horror marathon. House of 1000 Corpses was fun and The Devil's Rejects is classic.

So Godzilla was the number one monster in the poll. So AMC decides not to show any Godzilla flicks on the new Fearfest. At least some Frankinstein movies and the fly. This season is short on days and short of good flicks. I will have my own monsterfest with the good old DVD's
Pigzilla

This years FearFest leaves alot to be desired. Although perennial favorites such as Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street are slated to make an appearence, many other classics have been left out. The original Friday the 13th parts I &II are conspicuously absent as are the Hellraiser films, The Exorcist films, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, The Childs Play films, and anything George A Romero. Instead your scheduled is peppered with a mix of questionable choices (I mean Panic Room? That is not a horror movie) and some of the worst contemporary "horror" flicks out there (Bride of Chucky, Jeepers Creepers) I would have liked to see more slasher films like Prom Night, Maniac, Amityville, My Bloody Valentine, or some good monster movies like The Thing, Leviatiathan, Alien & Aliens. I really feel AMC has strayed from their roots this year. That doesnt mean I wont be watching though. :)

This years schedule for Fearfest is such a let down. There are so many great films being left out and its not lasting as long as it usually would. I love horror movies and I look forward to this program every year. I hope AMC does a better job next year.

Well like everyone on here im pissed off that monsterfest is not here. I just saw a trailer for fearfest and other than that piece of crap constantine that they want to air on it, it does look cool the way they put the commercial together!

I just can't get over this. Constantine? Resident Evil? Is this still American Movie "Classics"? Some contemporary horror films are fine, and I'm not against making changes to things. You have to change eventually. But when we change things, how about changing for the better? As classic as the Halloween movies are, I don't want to see them every single year as the main attraction!

Bring back Dracula, bring back the Wolfman, Frankenstein, the Mummy, and all their Hammer films incarnations as well. I want to be able to look forward to Halloween on AMC again.

Even though IFC doesn't have a 24/7 marathon, it has some really cool movies on this month, especially around Halloween. As much as I enjoy watching Fearfest every year, I'll definitely be flipping over to IFC during movies like Panic Room. Overall though, I'm looking forward to this year. It's basically the same kind of marathon AMC has had for years, except it seems like it starts out really strong and ends on a weaker note, but that's just me.
