The Next John Wayne??

Come on, really? There was no John Wayne before John Wayne, UNTIL John Wayne, so how can there be a next John Wayne...like askin who's the next God...
there's only ONE. You can compare, but only the older, more seasoned would fit. I agree that Duvall, Selleck, Elliott would work, but don't leave out Tommy Lee Jones. But none of them are or ever would be The
Duke. They would just be remembered as really good
cowboys. John Wayne was just America period. His voice alone was enough to make the enemy throw a white flag. Shoulda been President....

The Best Movie War Hero of All Time

When I first learned that AMC was Having a Poll to vote on the greatest war hero, The 1st thought in my Mind was Gary Cooper of Sgt. York. That is my all time greatest. I was disappointed that he was not even a choice in the poll. I guess a younger audience would not even be aware of that movie or that actor. Even so He should have won

Charlton Heston: A Hollywood Icon

There will never be another actor of the stature and class of Charlton Heston! Our loss is heaven's gain. All my condolences to Lydia, Fraser, Holly and the grandchildren. Why is AMC not having a HUGE tribute day or weekend dedicated to him? If he doesn't fit the definition of AMC, American Movie Classics, I don't know who does! He epitomized class and acted like a true star should act. America loved him!! God Bless Charlton Heston.

This Generation's John Wayne?

I recently read the interview AMC did with Mark Johnson, and in it he said that there will never be another John Wayne.

That struck me curiously. I know that The Duke was singularly unique, but to say that no actors today have the potential to do what he did, or to be as great as he was seems a little too much of a stretch for me.

At times I think Russell Crowe has that potential, or perhaps Christian Bale (and I don't just mention those two because they were both in the 3:10 to Yuma remake).

What do you all think? Can there be another John Wayne? Which actor do you think comes closest?
