HED P.E.
Out of curiosity, which ones would you most want to watch during a marathon -- and don't say all of them! Because we all know there are some bad Bonds **coughTimothyDaltoncough** and some really bad Bond movies -- erm, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day, and The World is Not Enough, I'm looking at you.
So I guess my question is, what are your top five Bond choices?
I love the idea of a Bond marathon. I'd actually say, we should have a Roger Moore Bond marathon. He's so overshadowed by Sean Connery and it would be great to give the guy some love. Here's to the "other" main 007.
Agreed on the bad James' and bad Movies....
I 'like' all of them - but some are good - ONCE....
From Russia With Love - Her Majesty's Secret Service - Diamonds Are Forever - Thunderball - You Only Live Twice would be my top 5. Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, and Man With the Golden Gun have that pure "Bond" quirkyness that keeps me locked in every time.... and Goldeneye is still my favorite of the more modern movies... I've only seen Casino Royal once so far.
I'm a fan of the "Golds" myself: Goldfinger and Goldeneye, and Man with the Golden Gun. I liked Casino Royale, but I had a problem with the third act. It changed the pace of the movie and it didn't really fit. It got to the point where I was ready for the movie to be over about 45 minutes before it was -- never a good thing.
Hmmm - yeh i need to see it again soon... i really couldn't give an honest critique - the first only time i saw it, i was surrounded by several who are big screen movie fans more than actual Bond fans so....
i just remember a lot of AMC fans griping that their entire month was packed with nothing but Bond movies last year - i understand there's 1000's of other American classics - but wouldn't a week of non-stop 007 get us our fix and not threaten the rest haha.
I love Bond, and I would be for a Bond Marathon. My fave 5 are :
1. From Russia With Love
2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
3. For Your Eyes Only
4. Goldeneye
5. Casino Royale
Six2Seven,
What did you think of the third act of Casino Royale. Obviously you didn't have a problem with it, since the movie is still in your top five, but I'm wondering if you think the movie could have done without it?
Play them all but Casino Royale .
Oh no way! Casino Royale was great! I'm a big fan of reinventing formulas that don't hold weight any more. That's why I'm also very much looking forward to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot. You don't have to disregard the old to come up with something unique.
Casino Royale was like going to a your favorite steakhouse restaurant and being served big salad with lots of goodies but no steak! J.J Abrams has disappointed me more then once on the big screen( Cloverfield). (wearing my Darth Vader costume ready to use my force choke) Pray that he doesn't fail me again in Star Trek!
