We have a western day on Saturday, why can't we have a war day on Sunday???

I love the war movies too. My favorites? Starting with the Civil War we have Glory, an all-time classic. For World War I, I loved All Quiet on the Western Front. WWII? Gotta go with Saving Private Ryan, though I would switch that to Band of Brothers if it counted as a movie. In close second I might say Letters from Iwo Jima, which I just saw and thought was terrific. Vietnam ya gotta go Apocalypse Now, even though Platoon was excellent as well. I haven't seen a great Iraq movie, though Jarhead I thought had its moments.
Every classic war film list I have ever seen, leaves one film off the list. A film from 1949 that won two oscars called "battleground", starring Van Johnson.
