open-range-duvall.jpg

Robert Duvall has appeared in some landmark dramas -- Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, To Kill a Mockingbird -- but he's made his greatest mark on the Western. With credits ranging from True Grit (with John Wayne) to AMC's own Broken Trail, he's earned a reputation as Hollywood's Last Great Cowboy. Don't believe it? Take a look for yourself with Open Range tonight at 8PM (for a full schedule this month, click here) or check out this gallery of Duvall in his most memorable Western roles.

Rober Duvall (Lucky Ned Pepper) did not kill John Wayne in True Grit. Remember they made a sequell, True Grit II, well it was called Rooster Cogburn. You guys know better.

DeMille, André de Toth, Allan Dwan, Clint Eastwood, John Ford, Samuel Fuller, D. W. Griffith, William S. Hart, Henry Hathaway, Howard Hawks, Monte Hellman, Walter Hill (director), Burt Kennedy, Fritz Lang, Anthony Mann, Andrew McLaglen, Sam Peckinpah, Edwin Stanton Porter, Ted Post, Nicholas Ray, Wesley Ruggles, George Stevens, John Sturges, Raoul Walsh, William A. Wellman, Fred Zinnemann and ROBERT DUVALL understand/understood the importance of the western to American Cinema. Now stop bickering about things that are less important.
