I am 30 years old and this is the first time I have ever sat and watched the godfather, perhaps I was born in the stone age but I think a dvd would be a great jesture on ya'lls part to send me a classic such as this. I need to get up to speed. Schooling apperently has taken its toll on my movie watching pleasure. I want to thank you for having this impeccable performance availible for me to watch. I give accolades to the program directors for knowing I would have 3 hours to FINALLY watch this masterpiece.
Yours Truly,
Jeremy Bryant
I'm a real Godfather fan, and have seen them a number of times. But I could NEVER answer these questions. Will the answers ever be posted somewhere? I'm really curious about some of them.
THX!
Sandra
It is difficult for me to be honest about this subject and still be believable because my claims will certainly sound exaggerated, but I have read the novel "The Godfather" approximately twenty some times, and I have watched parts 1 and 2 of the movie probably 50 times each. I have only watched part 3 maybe 3 times, it is a blasphemously horrible movie that disgraces the first 2 movies and I refuse to watch it. I actually rarely stop reading the book for long; it stays on my nightstand and I seldom take a break from reading it for long. My point to all this is that even I only know the answer to about 8 of these questions. Its hardly a true test of knowledge.
1. Moshulu
2. LaMotta and Tommy Bell

Homage: Tony Soprano is carrying orange juice in "The Sopranos" when there is an attempted hit on him.
14. The scene where Woltz wakes up to find his horse's decapitated head under the covers of his bed. Audi.
15. Abe Vigoda - People magazine.
I consider myself the ultimate GodFather fan and watch it everytime it comes on but these questions are WAY too hard. Bring it down a notch and give more of us a chance to actually win. Kudos to kat63 who after reading those answers appears to be right.
Wow!! Finally a quiz that makes a body think. I have seen the movie a number of times. I actually thought I could take this quiz and ace it. Thanks for making me use those extra brain cells. I look forward to learning so much more.
Strong work take-the-cannoli. I didn't consider Abe Vigoda because he appeared so briefly in GII (only in the final scene). Rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated. As a side note, Brando was rumored to have died long before he really did.
(Hey, AMC - I did not list my real name, but the email is correct. K. S. Carter, High Point, NC)
What can I say? Godfather and Godfather II are among the best films ever made. Not only are they operatic in their development (and even Godfather III, often criticized as inferior, pays homage to this in its final scenes) with all the complexity of Shakespearian tragedy, they are full of great acting and a script of wisdom: "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." Who needs more than this?
Thanks for the refresher quiz!
Hey, kat63, thanks for the kudos. Nice work yourself. Good point about Brando.
Two things....1) everyone seems to forget that Clemenza says "cannolis" plural, not singular...watch his mouth....his wife pluralizes it, too. Also, I have my own trivia question...what is the month and day of Vito Corleone's birthday? It was mentioned in GII.

( good question)
I am 18 years old and I have been watching this movie since I was 10. The Godfather is my favorite movie of all time and it is the best movie of all time. I have seen all three parts countless times, fully. The first movie on my iPod was The Godfather. The first song on my iPod was The Godfather song. I have 20 different songs from the movies on my iPod. The only ringtone that I put on my phone was the The Godfather love theme.

In 1992, another version of the saga was released, but this time including Part 3 and the whole movie ran for 583 minutes.

He made fun of this situation by posing in a coffin sitting up and reading the magazine. the same thing happened again however in 1987 when a Secacus, New Jersey WWOR Channel 9 TV reporter called him " the late Abe Vigoda"
I have watched the Godfather movies, including the Godfather III so many times it drives my family crazy.I saw the original movie in 1972 and both of the sequels when they came out, and as soon as they played on TV I started watching them over and over again. There is absolutely no way I could possibly answer every one of those questions even though I can practically recite scenes from each of the three movies. I would say that out of 15 questions I got 6 right. I don't think anyone could possibly answer all of those questions without doing a little internet searching. That is okay, but the whole idea is to see who is the ultimate Godfather fan, which to me means the information that is inside one's head, not obtained through computer research! I could easily have looked up the answers to the questions too. How the heck would anybody know the answer to #11? My congrats if you do because I certainly don't! I am not going to submit my answers because I already know only 6 are right. Good luck to those of you who have every one right. I will continue to watch the Godfather saga as long as it runs on TV. I am definitely addicted and I consider it to be a very healthy addiction! Is Abe Vigoda really still alive? Ha ha!
Came to take the quiz. You have 7 questions that have nothing to do with being a fan of the Godfather Movies. They have to do with Superbowl commercials, magazine descriptions of the movies, academy awards etc. The questions for the actual Godfather movies I found very easy. I only last night noticed the name on the boat. Everytime I watch them, I learn something new. I love watching them as well as the Soprano's, both are a part of my Heritage. Many people think these are movies for men, we women love them too. My sisters and I love the Catholic, Italian portrayal of family get togethers and the food, the Weddings and the Baptisms, First Communions and the Confirmations. If you look beyond the violence of the Mafia, you see the loyalty of family, the protection of brother's for their sister's, the loyalty of husband to wife and love of their children. Thanks for showing these movies over and over.
As far as I am concerned, the three best movies ever made were 1-Casablanca; 2 Godfather II; 3-Godfather. I watch them whenever they are aired - but not on network TV - only on the cable outlets. Anyway, these are the answers to the 15 questions - some pretty tough some pretty easy.
1-The Moshulu
2-Jake LaMotta vs. Tommy Bell
3-Respect and affection
4-"For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" and "Mona Lisa"
5-He looks at his watch and writes the time 8:30 on the inside of the kitchen cabinet
6-Best & Co
7-Lighter
8-Blood
9-None other than Alfredo James Pacino
10-Presented by NBC as a single movie. It was recut to show all events in chronological order.
11-Originally nominated for Best Original Score. However, it was rescinded because Nino Rotti wrote part of the score and love theme for the 1958 Italian movie Fortunella
12-Gone With The Wind
13-Oranges - someone is about to die. In the Sopranos - Tony is holding a glass of orange juice just before an attempt on his life. However in Godfather III, the diabetic Michael gulps down a large glass of orange juice in an attempt to re-balance is blood sugar. In the final scene of G3 in which Michael dies, he drops the orange he was holding.
14-The horse's head and blood in Jack Woltz' bed is replaced by grease and the nose piece of an automobile in an ad for the Audi R8.
15-Abe Vigoda was reported to be dead by People magazine in 1982.
Now that I think about question # 5, I'm pretty sure that he writes on the front of the cabinet, not the inside.
Thanks to Lenore for the question about Don Vito's birthday - Dec 7 - remember that Sonny curses the "Japs" for attacking on Pop's birthday.
I happened to think of this just before Vito puts 3 bullets in Don Fanucci.
1-The Moshulu
2-Jake LaMotta vs. Tommy Bell
3-Respect and affection
4-"For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" and "Mona Lisa"
5-He looks at his watch and writes the time 8:30 on the inside of the kitchen cabinet

I really enjoyed reading the Godfather book when it first came out years ago.
I always enjoy watching the Godfather movies. I felt it was helpful to have read the book prior to seeing the first Godfather movie. It's being great seeing The Godfather and The Godfather II movies again.
Years ago I loaned my Godfather book to a neighbor who told me that she thought it was boring. I could not get over her saying that. I remember that to this day. To me it was anything but boring. I thought it was an outstanding book, and that it was very exciting.

I can't lie. I've been a Godfather film-fan for many years. And yet, I could only answer a handful of those questions. I guess I'm not that attentive (grin).
But before going, I wanted to make a comment ... and perhaps a "suggestion" to AMC and the film studio.
I own the DVD collection of all three films (and extras). However, I remember that, for a short time in the early 1980s, a VHS-set was released of the first two films called, "The Godfather Epic." When Part III came out, it was promptly (and permanently) pulled from the shelves of video stores (except the rare rental stores that still have the Epic set). The big difference between it and the current versions of Part I and Part II on DVD is that, in the Epic release, the Godfather story was told in "chronological" order. Not only that, but it included scenes that were cut from the DVD versions.
I confess that I like my "epics" to unfold. Flashback (and flashforward) sequences are all fine and dandy ... but they can be taken to the extreme. This didn't make me like the Part II DVD less ... but frankly, I'd love to see (and BUY) a new DVD collection - if the studio could be convinced to remaster the Epic release as a "chronological" Part I and Part II.

13. Oranges seen as a prelude to death – In the first film, Tom Hagen and Woltz negotiate Johnny's movie status at a dinner table with a plate of oranges on it, and Woltz soon discovers his dead horse's head; Don Vito Corleone is buying oranges from a fruit seller when he is attacked; Sonny drives past a billboard promoting Florida Oranges before he is attacked at the toll booth; Michael is seen eating an orange while discussing his plans of revenge for his father's assassination attempt with Tom Hagen; oranges are placed on the table at the meeting of the Mafia bosses (and specifically in front of the ones who will be assassinated at the film's climax); and Don Vito Corleone dies while eating an orange, as he plays with his young grandson. Tessio is also seen peeling an orange at Connie's wedding. Carlo, who is responsible for Sonny's death, is wearing an orange suit when Sonny beats him up. (per Wikipedia/The_Godfather)
Recent television series paid homage to this, and how?
Lost – Locke did his creepy orange smile in the Pilot ep. Could this be an homage to The Godfather movies? (per losttalk.net)
