Talk Forum: What You're Saying
As the John Wayne DVD contest nears its close, the debate over his best movie is raging at Future of Classic's new Talk forum. judygr64 picked The Searchers as her favorite, stating that there's, "something about those beautiful scenes at Monument Valley always gets to me."
NatalieG agreed, saying she loved the "pragmatic determination" in the film, but countered that, "for pure entertainment, I have to go with True Grit. He was iconic, versatile, and oh so very human!"
Still others, like christcl, countered that The Quiet Man is the best: "Emotional, humorous and that breathtaking scenery. And, of course, there is his co-star Maureen O'Hara--any Irishman's dream."
Meanwhile, in preparation for the Super Bowl we were talking about our favorite sports movies. While I went with the big Rs in sports cinema--Rudy and Rocky--Wright Stuff added that Field of Dreams belonged up near the top as well: "Are you going to tell me that James Earl Jones' 'One constant in life' speech doesn't get you jazzed up for baseball every time you even think about it?" he asked.
Keep voting for your favorite John Wayne movies on the Talk forum, and keep letting us know about your favorite sports! Next week, the Talk forum will be tackling the ever-burdensome topic of Valentine's Day, so get ready to tell us about your favorite big screen romances.
