Who's Your Favorite Meryl Streep Character?
With news coming today of Meryl Streep's new contract to play food legend Julia Child in the adaptation of Julie Powell's wonderful book, Julia and Julie: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, I began to think about Streep's great strength as an actress: that seemingly innate but important ability to make us believe we're seeing someone else on the screen. Along those lines, take our poll and let us know which Meryl character moved you the most.

Like Meryl in "Death Becomes Her". She plays a jealous and aging actress known as Madeline Ashton. One of my favorite scenes is her instant lift job after drinking the fountain of youth potion. Love the honesty of her jealosy and greed (if that makes any sense). We see her interior and exterior erosion. Think she was rather good in the dark comedy and liked seeing that less "serious" side of her.
I love her as Julia in Defending Your Life. She is funny and luminous in her scenes with Albert Brooks. The whole movie is a joy.
