Right now, fans of the cult science fiction thriller Blade Runner can own the Director's Cut, released in 1997, and the Limited Edition Collector's Set, released in 2000. Coming December 18th, they'll also be able to snag the Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition, the centerpiece of which is Ridley Scott's Final Cut (not to be confused with the director's cut, although Ridley Scott is in fact the director).

The set comes in a cool-looking briefcase filled with a work print, documentary feature, deleted scenes, toy car, toy unicorn, some trading cards and three – three! – additional versions of the 1982 film.

In an interview with the New York Times, Scott said "I’ve never paid quite so much attention to a movie, ever. But we had to create a world that supported the story's premise, made it believable...My original concept was almost operatic: the cadences, the deliberate pacing."

But his original vision fell victim to the film's poor showing in previews.

The Final Cut has improved visual effects and never-before-seen footage that answers the question of whether Deckard is or is not a replicant once and for all. And if you can't wait a couple of months for it, The Final Cut will play in two theaters starting this Friday – the Ziegfield in Manhattan and the Landmark in Los Angeles.
