The Wittiest Alfred Hitchcock Quotes

Hitchcock_6 Alfred Hitchcock was known as a master of the language (as you can see and hear in this interview.  Hitch's words, off the cuff or cerebral, had that signature droll British wit.  Muse upon these 10 quotes out to see what I mean.

“When an actor comes to me and wants to discuss his character, I say, 'It's in the script.' If he says, 'But what's my motivation?, ' I say, 'Your salary.'”

“I never said all actors are cattle; what I said was all actors should be treated like cattle.”

“Self-plagiarism is style.”

“The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder.”

“There is no terror in a bang, only in the anticipation of it.”

“Television has brought back murder into the home - where it belongs.”

“In films murders are always very clean. I show how difficult it is and what a messy thing it is to kill a man.”

“The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture.”

“I have a perfect cure for a sore throat:  cut it.”

“There's nothing to winning, really. That is, if you happen to be blessed with a keen eye, an agile mind, and no scruples whatsoever.”

Keep these coming - they are wonderful. Anyone with half a brain knows that Hitchcock always had a look of irony on his face and in what he was saying.

Most enjoyable.

Thank you.

In reviewing Hitchcock's classics, I 'm at a loss to understand why in the world did you leave out "Notorious" ? This was a great Hitchcock movie/thriller with Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant. Bergman starred in three Hitchcock thrillers, Spellbound, Notorious and Under Capricorn and you left out all of them.

I own most of Hitchcocks films, but it's great to see them out there on TV, for the younger generations to discover.

I'd really love to see the Alfred Hithcock Hour and Alfred Hitchcock Presents back on the air!

I have seen all the Hitchcock movies. No question about it, he

was a great director. I have to admit though, I think he had a thing about his victims. Most of them were women. They were killed, murdered, died, etc., in an awful way; especially

Psycho, Frenzy, Vertigo. Sometimes I wondered if he was a misogynist.
