The Coolest Bogart Quotes

Bog To this day, there's no one cooler than Humphrey Bogart.  Bogart's been given props in everything from Bugs Bunny cartoons to a Little Feat song to the video game, Scarface: The World Is Yours.  Sure, his manner exuded hipness.  But so did his words:

“I was born when you kissed me. I died when you left me. I lived a few weeks while you loved me.”

“If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.”

“Here's looking at you, kid.”

“The whole world is about three drinks behind.”

“The only thing that you owe the public is a good performance.”

“Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”

“I always cry at weddings, especially my own.”

“If a face like Ingrid Bergman's looks at you as though you're adorable, everybody does. You don't have to act very much.”

“The only point in making money is so you can tell some big shot where to go.”

“I came out here with one suit and everybody said I looked like a bum. Twenty years later Marlon Brando came out with only a sweatshirt and the town drooled over him. That shows how much Hollywood has progressed.”

Another quote that Bogart made about Ingrid Bergman is never mentioned. It went something like this:

Bogie had a card game he was supposed to attend (with a bunch of guys). They called him on the set of Casablanca to remind him about the game which he never showed up. He remarked:

"Why should I play cards with you guys when I got Ingrid Bergman over here telling me she loves me."
