Maybe you think you already have all the Close Encounters of the Third Kind you need. 

Your DVD collection already includes Close Encounters of the Third Kind: Two Disk Collector's Edition and Close Encounters of the Third Kind/Starman Double Feature and Close Encounters of the Third Kind: Widescreen Collector's Edition (for all the collectors of widescreens out there). 

Still, you may want to mark your calendar for the November 13th release date of Close Encounters of the Third Kind: 30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition. It includes (for the first time since the release of the film on laser disc) the original 1977 theatrical cut alongside the 1980 Special Edition and Steven Spielberg's Director's Cut. Extras include a new interview with Spielberg and a "Making Of" documentary. 

That the film is being released in Blu-Ray (but not HD) may be a consideration for some viewers. Steven Spielberg is a fan of the format, and the Blu-Ray edition has the DVD bonus material as well as "Storyboard to Scene Comparisons," the 1977 "Watch the Skies" featurette and the original theatrical preview.
