Stretch Out Your Summer With Sea & Cinema

Marthas_vineyard_ff_2 The Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival runs September 13th to 16th. And this is only its second incarnation – your chance to (almost) get in on the ground floor!

An all-access pass seems like a pretty good deal at $180, seeing as it includes a plethora of events ranging from morning coffee to art gallery strolls to live music to sunset cocktails. Oh, and screenings and panel discussions. ‘Cause it’s a film festival. Right.

The festival is a little light on world premieres – many of the films have already opened elsewhere, like the well-reviewed Mon Meilleur Ami, Lars Von Trier’s The Boss of It All, the documentaries An Arctic Tale and Deep Water, and the directorial compilation Paris Je t’aime.

But there are some interesting selections from China, Uganda, Turkey, Switzerland and Romania, as well as the Bill Plympton Animation Workshop. The fabulously talented animator will present his “Traveling Program”...and every attendee gets a free drawing!

Plus, an Australian film, narrated by Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) and sporting the awesome title The Girl Who Swallowed Bees. It’s only nine minutes long, but a girl! who swallows bees!
