Talk: Breaking Bad: Predictions
As a plot line for Season 3, what if Skylar's boss is busted by the IRS and she is accused of stealing the missing money? The IRS would search her house and find Walt's money. They would take it and Walt would be back to square one.

If Vince and his writing staff ends the "dynamic duo" of Walt and Jessie in some tragic fate of death in Season 3, who would Vince focus as a main characterization(s) for the series? Would "Breaking Bad" be able to carry on successfully if Walt and Jessie are out of the series?

I think you will recently see a divorce between Walt and Skylar. I bet you will see Saul doing all sorts of shady stuff and will get Walt a killer deal. I also am wondering why Walt chopped out the entire floor near his hot water heater and looked around underneath.. new place to cook or for cash?

Lots of thought here put into Possible Post Partum depression and weight gain. Me knowing lots of women who've gained 50 to 90lbs being pregnant, Don't you think that Skylar being so skinny during her pregnancy deserves to be tortured with a wee bit of post partem depression, smoke some pot, a couple of cigs and eat some Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia or New York Super Fudge Chunk and gain a kilo or ten?
Shoot, she got immediatly thinner than she already was. Haggen Daus Rum Raisin? Some good Grape Ape Fudge Brownie's?

You can name which Season (I think there will be five seasons before it ends). You can name the character who uncovers Walt's criminality, but you have to explain how and why. No fish-heads here. I want gills, fins and a tail. Give an explanation. Write a story if you have to. They aren't charging you by the word here. I really want to know who brings Walt down, when, how and why.
Bonus question: Does Walt ever go to jail? No explanations needed for this. You can cough up a "yes", "no" or "maybe so".

Even with the distraction of some very nice summer days, a disturbing thought popped up about the ABQ episode - the money stashed in the garage walls.
Throughout the season, the ever expanding teasers showed different scenes of the plane crash over Albuquerque and Walt's house. In one of those teasers they showed HazMat people around Walt's property. Doesn't this put Walt's secret stash in the garage in jeopardy of discovery? Wouldn't the HazMat people comb throughout the property and home to make sure there are no toxic fallout/chemicals from the crash (i.e., scouring the home thoroughly to make sure it's free of hazardous chemicals/materials)?
Walt's drug money could be discovered, don't you think? What would (or could) Walt do or say to keep the people out?

A. Location, Location, Location. - I have a Theory regarding next Season, it has all 4 elements listed above. Here goes, this last Season 2, Hank received reports from some DEA Field Agents in neighboring Southwestern States (Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado) about the Blue Meth turning up in some of their cities. I have a feeling Hank will be sent on some road trips to visit and do some Liaison work with some of these Fellow DEA Field Agents. Along the way, Hank will be put in the local Best Western Hotel or a Budget Inn during some of these stops, after a full days Liaison work, Hank drops into a local Pollos Hermanos for some of that tasty Golden Bird. At this point Hank is just thinking about something to eat and then hitting the rake, before he travels onto his next destination the next morning. Now what are the chances that Hank will run into a Pollos Hermanos at his next destination on his work related road trip? Will Hank think there is any significance to this or is it just a coincidence? Might Hank have a chance encounter with Gus along his travels or at one of these Pollos Hermanos? This has got me wondering, how about you?

Breaking Bad is the best show on TV.. I think a lot of fans like me, want more of the action and not as much of the drama... I am sorry, but I am getting tired of Skyler complaining about everything and everyone, she is a good actress but her character is too melodramatic! And Tuco was a great addition in Season 1 and 2, can we have his cousin come back seeking revenge? or some more Cartel / Mexican Mafia types?

Last we see Jessie wrapped up in a green spa robe, dissolving in self pity and depression over the loss of Jane and vegging out in Spa land. "...I deserved this"....and we know Jessie has finally realized his "comeuppance." Everything committed in the past, has spun around and hit him back twofold, waking Jessie to a realization he hadn't ever expected. Its reflection time for Jessie sorting out what is important to him and what is not.......Whether Walt is part of his life again, cooking BlueSky, or moving on to cleanse himself of the stench and inconsistent life of self destructing through drugs, violence or death. We feel his pain and anguish but the first question that comes into our minds is......what will you do for the rest of your life, Jessie????

I'm just wondering if Walt and Skyler should be together in Season 3. Maybe it's more realistic for them to be living apart ! They would still have plenty of contact as they have two children and maybe Walt eventually comes to Skyler's rescue as she becomes more involved in the money issues at her work. This would certainly free Walt up to become more involved and to come to grips with his criminal side. It would certainly free up Walt to go deeper and deeper into the dark side ... what do people think ??

What will Walt Jr. do with the Save Walter White.org donations once he finds out Walt has already paid for his surgery bill? At some point in time and possibly quite soon, Walt Jr. will attempt to apply web site donations for SaveWaltWhite.org to pay the surgery bill and find out Walt has already paid for it in cash (from a meager teacher's salary???). The question is, why didn't Walt tell Walt Jr. the bill has been paid and there was no need for the web site? This will trigger Walt Jr. to rethink that second cell phone he covered for his father to Skyler.

Will Jesse be able to forgive himself? That is a pretty important factor to how far and extreme Jesse will break bad.
Through two seasons, Jesse has continually said "I'm a good person" like a mantra to himself and anyone present. Did he truly believe that? Or was he trying to convince himself and others?

Where does it go from here?
So now that Skyler knows SOMETHING is up, the question I find most interesting right now is whether Walt tries yet another lie. If he tells the truth, as he promised, he doesn't know how Skyler will react (it won't be good, obviously, but would she be angry enough to tell Marie, who then is biologically incapable of not telling Hank)?

In the season finale Walter continued to grow into his fatherly role toward Jesse. I suspect season 3 will begin with Walt continuing to redeem himself through this behavior. The symbols are everywhere. The pink sweater (Walt has become a Pink Man, as in Jesse Pinkman), Walt's new goatee that is just like the one worn by Jane's compassionate father, and the damaged Pink teddy bear (representing Jesse Pinkman) falling into Walter's life from a massive wreck. The stuffed bear is remarkably similar to the one in the mural in Jane's apartment, shown flying through space with Jane, presumably flying high on heroin. Jesse was nothing but Jane's teddy bear, a source of comfort for her, but not an object of true love, and she sent his vulnerable psyche (damaged as a result of Walt's selfish behavior) into a free fall. The bear ends up in an evidence bag, presumably as part of the crash investigation.

Remember the water heater installation? Does Jane's dad connect Jesse and Walt? Does he in a fit of rage take out Skyler and Junior by mistake or do they get killed in a water heater explosion.
Do Walt and Jesse go under with fake deaths? Since we know Jane is gone this one has been what I have been leaning towards all week. With everybody getting closer to them this is a possibility.
On the other hand with the family out of the way the show could focus more on Walt as he becomes more and more a "druglord" type.
Keep the Kleenexes handy tonight though.

I have searched but failed to locate theories of where Walt's spare tire rolled to during the frenzied and final BIG meth deal. Since the action of the actual deal occurred off camera, we aren't privy to where the wheel ended up. Surely it MUST matter? Again, apologies if this has been addressed. but like the insulin/tuberculin syringe - the spare tire is yet another bit of hard evidence lurking in the background with the potential to incriminate Walt. Is this final episode the end of Breaking Bad? Such a great show but how long can it go on?

Wouldn't it be a wild "what if" --- if Jesse and Walt were to , over the course of the series, switch roles?
Now when this started, Jesse was basically a slacker. He had a home provided by his aunt and he basically didn't have much of a post high school "life"
Walt on the other hand, had a "life" complete with a career and family and home. All up until the moment that he found out he was going to die.

I really think that the season finale is going to be a train wreck and nobody will be left untouched

As Heisenberg gains more of a foothold over Walt's personality and makes more appearances in his everyday and criminal life, what will Walt do to "feed the monster" inside? The ante goes up as the dark feelings grow, and to feel more empowered, Walt will have to resort to more extreme actions and behavior to satiate those feelings.
What do you think those actions would be? Will anybody notice or call him on it? Would Jesse?
In his drug dealings, for example, Walt is currently using verbal threats to intimidate, and feels pretty powerful afterward. As time goes on, I figure in this world, Walt will resort to more lethal methods to get that same feeling. Walt could end up being an excellent poisoner to get his message across rather than guns, to feel empowered and achieve his ends. The possibilities are endless.......

Now I know some of you want many seasons to come. And the way the episodes are progressing. It seems never ending. But by the scenes at the begining of season two episode 10 I have a feeling I am gonna hate the ending. I love this show. I have loved it sense I first watch the first one the first day it aired. The short season and the long wait for season 2 have left me a little irritated. I understand keep'm watching AMC. But I will always watch amc. Why? Simply put. I love old eastwood westerns. Will watch them over and over untill I die. I'm just wishing for a quick merciful ending to this awesome tale. Many props for the genius of this show. I haven't been hooked like this in years. But please stop on top. I know many fans will miss it. But this is too much.
I guess I can't help but see a season 3 being as we are no where near a ending and we only have 4 episodes left. But Can we start season three in less than a year please. That and finish it. Thats all I ask. Too much to ask?

Both Walt and Skyler appear to have blue eyes in the show, however Walt Jr appears to have brown eyes. Most people with high school science would know that the blue eye color is recessive and if both parents are homozygously recessive (both having blue eyes), their offspring should be the same. Unless one of them wears coloured contacts, something is clearly wrong. Walt is also a very intelligent man and you would think he would be aware of this fact as well. There were hints of a possible relationship with Skyler and Ted in episode 7 of season 2. Ted appears to have brown eyes and could possibly be the father.

Well, looks like Hank is movin' on up, with landing that big promotion! BUT, is he done with Jesse Pinkman? That had to have pissed off Hank in a big way to be involved in that gunfight with Tuco and nearly getting killed (which he's still feeling aftershocks from), and Jesse simply walks out of the DEA Station unscathed. I think while Hank is doing double-duty, he's gonna have his DEA co-workers watching Jesse, and possibly pulling one of Jesse's "distribution" buddies aside and telling them "You're now a confidential informant for us, or you're back in jail" What do you all think?

Okay, I only recently saw episode 4 (Down), and it seems that we're clearly being set up for something big, most likely at the end of season 2 -- that ends with toys and other detritus being skimmed out of the White family pool and placed into evidence bags. Speculation?
I'll venture a guess that Skyler gives birth, but that the infant doesn't make it to season 3, but instead ends up in the pool, courtesy of the reappearance of the "boys from Juarez".
Other thoughts as to this foreshadowing?

We all know it's a matter of time before Skyler finds out what Walter is up to (making crystal). The real questions with this topic is how will she react? Half of me believes that she will walk away from him and my other half believes she won't. So Tuco said that his cousins are coming up from Mexico to come get them and keep them safe. Well, "Tio" in spanish means "uncle" so the cousins are "Tio's" sons. Tio spent hours with Jesse and Walt, he can identify them and he knows that they tried to poison Tuco. So, as Hank calls them, "Those boys down in Juares" , Tuco cousins are on the way and Jesse and Walt will be seeing them soon. And rumor has it they are more evil than Tuco ever was!!

Jesse should try to get Walt to diversify his portfolio. Sample dialogue: "Dude, the meth scene is really played out around these parts. We should diversify." "Any ideas?" "Government documents. That's where the action's at." "Counterfeiting? I don't think so...The Secret Service takes a very dim view on counterfeiters." "Not money, Holmes, other documents -- say, stamps -- s--t, those thing go for 42 cents a pop. What about those E stamps? Man, those things last forever. Who checks that those are legit? The Secret Service? I don't think so --. We would only have to deal with the Postmaster General, if that. Dude, it would be like printing money, only without the, uh, scrutiny. What do you think?"...

I didn't watch the whole marathon. I knew it was coming, but I was sort of in denial that October started yesterday, so I forgot about it until I was channel-surfing last night. I watched all of episode 3 and part of episode 4 (not much).
So, let's say that Walt is caught and tried for the murder of Krazy-8. Before Krazy-8 dies and Walt is giving him a sandwich, K-8 acts as though it might be tainted. Walt says, "It's OK; it's not poisoned" and K-8 says, "That would be the way to get rid of me, since you're a chemist."
If Walt had poisoned him, that would be Murder 1, because it would show premeditation and planning. But Walt was really going to let him go, until he realized that it was kill or be killed. So is that Murder 2? Justifiable homicide?
Just some thoughts...

I'm sure I'm not the only person out there intrigued by the crucial question:
Why is Walt where he is now? Why he is hustling for meth money when he should be sitting in an upholstered office in downtown ABQ watching his stock returns pile up? In other words: WHY DID HE LEAVE GRAY MATTER?
And I'm equally sure I'm not the only person who has fixed on the lovely Gretchen as a likely answer.
But if she IS the reason Walt and Elliot parted ways, what are the details? Two broad possiblities strike me as likely:
Walt and Gretchen were involved pre-Elliot, and Elliot stole/attracted her away from him (i.e., he actively seduced her, or she spontaneously fell in love with him and left Walt).
OR. Elliot/Gretchen was the original relationship and Walt had a thing with her on the side, and Elliot may or may not have found out. If the second case, Walt may have deliberately distanced himself from Elliot out of guilt.
I lean toward scenario 2b, imagining that in any of the other above plot lines, the open bitterness between the two men would have been too deep to be bridged by an occasion like a corny gift at a birthday party. But I could be wrong. In fact it might have nothing to do with Gretchen at all. We have virtually no information on the matter.
The point is, I want to know what you all think. :D
By the way, it's great to join the discussion. I've been a fan since before the first episode, actually, just from watching the previews, but I only discovered this talk forum recently. Breaking Bad is easily one of the best television shows ever made, and I'm on tenterhooks awaiting Season 2.

Have you ever heard of the concept of "sainting"? It refers to someone removing evidence after a person's death, so that a secret life can be kept from loved ones.
In the event that Walt is not found out before his death, do you think he would ask Jesse to clean up his effects so that his family didn't find out about the meth cooking? Would Jesse do it on his own, without being asked?
I've said several times before that Walt seems to be just a little scared of Skyler. To be fair, what I've really meant is that he doesn't want to disappoint her. He wants to meet her approval and to protect and provide for their family. The idea that he might not be able to frightens him, but he's also frightened that she might find out how he chose to meet his obligations. I think even death wouldn't remove this fear.
OK, one more spin on this topic: Skyler DOES find out. Would she hide the information from their daughter, Holly, as she grows up?

Just for fun, as we WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION (sorry...that's me getting impatient) of a second season, how about a lil' viewer speculation and or fan wish lists.
To encourage plenty of participation I'll make it very easy to play along.
You must:
~Choose four different characters
~Make a prediction or season two wish for all four characters
~Mark each one, next to the name, 'Speculation' or 'Wish' (feel free to do one or both) and keep each thought to a 25 word max.
Example:
HANK-Speculation - Hank will find out about Walt but keep his mouth shut about in exchange for Walt staying quiet on his wife's lil habit.
HANK - Wish - Hank, seeing Walt and Jessie together, will start pressing Jessie on Walt is up to.
Sound like fun?
While I'll need a day or two to mull over my own predictions and wishes I look very forward to reading all of yours as we WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION! (Yeah! I'm still impatient but I want more... AMC should be flattered and pleased we want it that *BAD* ) on a second season of Breaking Bad.

First, I want to give a brief explanation of my post title. When I was in college, there were several elective courses labeled as subjects for non-majors. To my knowledge, they were mostly science courses. It wasn't intended to be a lighter version of a subject, but rather a survey for those who were interested from an avocational point of view. Also, I saw it as taking the pressure off the professor, allowing him or her to present the topic in a more casual manner.
I won the RV about the 5th week of the season, but I've still been interested in some of the questions. It's not fair for me to be in with those who haven't won yet, so I'm setting up this topic for others like me. Also, we can continue to discuss it after the week is up.
For me, the easy answer is that Skyler can't find out about Walt's moonlighting. That's too simple, though. Another thing to think about is WHEN she finds out. If another principal figure (Hank, Marie or Walt Jr.), figures it out first, that will likely soften the blow, because that person will be able to offer their opinion to Skyler.
If Skyler finds out first, it's going to be a big blow to their relationship. Like any big secret revealed, it will be a shock and she will have to figure out what to do with the information. Unless Walt is also caught by the police or turned in, he's not off the hook. He has obligations to his family. If he can't take care of those, they'll have to develop a different strategy to survive. Any way it happens, it will be unpleasant.

I cannot say enough great things about this show. I come from the meth and marijuana capital of Canada. You have managed to grab the attention of a 'lot' of people here I thought would never own a TV. Here are some of of our thoughts:
1. The relationship between Bryan and Aaron is awesome and what you would expect. Please expand, and don't have anyone busted too soon; we like them together and splitting them up should be the Season 2 finale.
2. Walt needs to start smoking marijuana. He has cancer and rad-pacs; hello!? Anyone there ever had radiation nausea?
3. Someone buy them a friggin' Police Scanner for heavens sake!
4. Please be careful. Too many sub-plots will mess this up. Everyone in this show (so far) is a victim of something, so its time to show some of their victees.
Cheers!

There is a reason why Hank is a DEA agent and his main focus is on meth. This is not just a coincidence. The question is, what will Hank do once he realizes how involved Walt is in the meth scene? I think Hank will discover that Walt was responsible for the missing chemistry lab supplies, then it snowballs from there and he finds out how involved Walt really is.
Does Hank look the other way? After all, Walt's dying and won't be around long. (not likely) Will Hank arrest him on the spot? It is his job to protect and serve. Or will he become involved? Once he sees how well Walt and Jesse are doing, he may want a piece of the pie.
We all know Hank isn't a saint, considering he accepted illegal cuban cigars for doing a favor for somebody else, and he even laughed it off when he found out Walt is smoking pot. So it seems he doesn't care about the little things if nobody is getting hurt. So, how will he respond to the fact Walt is becoming a meth kingpin? It will happen and I would imagine it will happen early or mid-way through next season. So do you agree? I'd love to hear everyone's take on this.

Tuco is too evil to live. The end of the Finale was Tuco huffing some of Walt's super-potent Blue meth and then winding up into psychotic brutality whereby he assaults one of his henchman within an inch of his life, all because Walt asked him to mellow out.
Remember that Walt's primary consideration upon entering into the meth business a second time was "No Bloodshed". Whoops. The problem with Tuco is that he is going to kill Walt or kill somebody else in such a way that it gets Walt implicated and arrested. Walt knows this and he also knows that he hates Tuco. And he knows that Tuco is very careless about how he samples the product when he buys it.
So here's how I think it goes down: Walt is going to produce a batch of something that when Tuco sticks his face into the bag it will so severely incapacitate him Tuco will either die or be reduced to a harmless zombie. At that point either of two things will happen: Jesse will take over the selling part of the operation or the henchman who Tuco messed up in the Finale will take over, now beholden to Walt for his destruction of Tuco. You won't see this coming and it won't be easy, it will just create a bunch of new problems and the chemical mixture of this show will remain as volatile as ever. This despite the very satisfied feeling we will all have when we see Tuco get the ultimate morality play.

Or do you want Walt to get caught?
Will the powers allow Vince or anyone else make a series like Breaking Bad and allow the bad guy to win?

The preview synopsis says (among other things): "Skyler's sister, Marie (Betsy Brandt), throws Skyler a baby shower and gives a questionable gift. "
I'll bet it's a pair of stolen high heels.

I'm not worried like some people that Breaking Bad not will be picked up for a second season. With all the reviews and buss that it's getting in just six episodes it will be AMC's number one moneymaker in its next season. I just hope that the new shows start back soon. Breaking Bad will put AMC on the map. I read that FX turned it down. I bet someone at FX will get fired for turning it down if not they should.
I would never do meth because I know what it does. Meth is bad in my county and a school teacher was arrested a few months ago for making meth here. But If I were in Walt's shoes, I would try to take care of my family also.
This story is about a good man that has been dealt a bad hand. He only wants to make sure that if he dies that his family is not left owning doctor bills and broke. Meth is bad but people who do it are going to buy it from someone, somewhere. I do not think the show glamorizes meth in anyway. I think it shows what it does to you. Like all the other fans I'm so disappointed that they are only one more episode left this season.

With all this talk of when and if Breaking Bad will return for a second season I thought now might be a good time to remind my fellow fans that positive feedback is a powerful thing.
While people will go out of their way to complain the same is not often said for offering praise.
Praise is a GOOD thing.
There isn't a soul out there that doesn't welcome it when it comes their way.
That in mind I suggest we all take a lil' time to offer up our viewer praise to the people that need to hear it most. Saying nice things is good for the soul and can only help when it comes to getting more of this wonderful show.
Nothing fancy needed.
Just drop a quick email -- tell them who you are ... demographics are always a big deal -- of praise to those who need to hear it telling them how much you love this show.
So, head off to those websites, track down emails (everyone has a contact us) for all those oh so influential entertainment reporters and publications and let your viewer voice be heard.
Off the top of my head I'd suggest...
AMC (of course!)
TV Guide
Entertainment Weekly
Your hometown newspaper entertainment reporter.
While it seems like a little thing that would hardly make a difference, remember, everyone loves praise and little things can often go a long, long way.

I absolutely love this show. This is from someone whose family has just had a loved one diagnosed at the age of 33 with stage 3 lung cancer (and who died 2 weeks ago) , and whose father is a 30+ year retired school teacher.... it is amazingly accurate... from the diagnosis with the audio hum blocking out every word to the idiot "cancer education" pamphlets and every other "published" book out there claiming to be an "authority"....feeding right into the manufactured hope for "its all about me Skyler" psyche. I literally wanted to take the talking pillow and beat her with it when I was watching Gray Matter.
This show is so great in the cerebral area of showing real science, and the well-written dark plots that I am afraid the Candy-TV addicted American public will pass this by as being "too smart". It seems like any show that makes you think gets canceled. I really hope it catches on like Six Feet Under.
