Talk: Breaking Bad: March 2011

It Doesn't Get Any Better

In 5 minutes I will sit down to watch "Full Measures" (naturally not my 1st time) with my latest BBB (Breaking Bad BELIEVER), my husband. There is *nothing* like watching BB with a virginal first timer, is there? Any experiences you'd like to share? ")

The Pink Teddy Bear And Eyeball

I remember last year there was a thread about how many times the pink teddy bear was shown outside of Walt' pool where it landed.

I don't recall them all but I do remember seeing a display of them in the supermarket where Walt took his clothes off to set-up his fugue state.

Can you recall how many times the bear was shown and also while were at it the eyeball to?

Last 'Full Measure' til July

I'm excited to see 'Full Measure' again tonight, but I'm really not lookin' forward to my withdrawls until July yo!

Krazy 8's body

What did they end up doing w/ Krazy 8's body? Has this ever been discussed? Am I missing something? Walt killed him, and the next thing we see is an empty basement. But did they ever say what they did w/ it? Am I missing something? And could this come up in the future? Could it come back to Walt?

Where will Season 4 take us

Well to start, Hank can't use his legs. On top of this, Marie seems to be very upset with the DEA (Hank also said that he thinks he is done being a cop) so there is a big chance that even if Hank does recover in Season 4 that he will no longer be a DEA agent. If he finds out that Walt has been paying for his physical therapy then he may do his own independent research to validate it (it was said in season 3 that his money is going to be filtered through some legal gambling casinos by Saul so this might end up being Walt's 'safety net' this season from being caught.

We see that Jesse has started again with the Meth. On top of this he kills for the first time (and an innocent person at that, which can only lead to more inner strife). It'd be interesting to see which road he takes in season 4. Does he remain 'the bad guy' or does he fall apart and digress further into his substance abuse problem.

Walt is sort of priming himself up to be the next big thing from what I've seen. With his wife pretty much supporting what he is doing, the only thing holding him back from full 'Heisenberg' fruition was Jesse. At the end of Season 3 we see he is willing to go as deep as possible to stay on top by ordering the hit on Gale. The one big grey area here is what will become of his relationship with Gus. Will he be able to make peace with Gus to continue making Meth (the cooking can not stop) or will he set his own terms and thus becoming a solid figure in the business to the point of being untouchable like Gus.

The Cartel aren't going to just go away either. They're going to be out for blood, but their target has shifted to Gus this time. With Uncle Tio still alive I'm sure he still wants vengeance on Walt but Gus did have the Cousins walk into their doom so I think that takes priority. Then again who knows if Tio has any more soldiers of doom to call on from Mexico.

But the most interesting aspect of Season 4 I am most curious about is how deep is Skylar willing to get involved in this whole Meth business. From the way shes was acting towards the end of Season 3 she seemed to be using Walt's dishonesty as a card to get what she wants instead of being genuinely distraught about the whole situation. It'll be interesting to see if she goes 'Heisenbabe' in season 4 but from a behind the seasons/cover up angle.

These are the ideas/conclusions I have come up with after watching all 3 season 3 times. I'm curious to read what everyone else thinks will come about in Season 4 based on analysis of the previous seasons (and not wishful thinking ala' Jesse aimed for the stove even though it took him a day to figure out how to load a freaking gun :)

Symbolic Imagery in Breaking Bad

One of my favorite things about Breaking Bad, besides EVERYTHING, is the imagery. It's truly an art that they seemed to have mastered. But some of the imagery might not be what it seems. What are symbolic images used in the shows that alot of viewers may not notice or overlook. There are quite a few...

My favorite is in Season 3's "One Minute" episode. There is a scene where Walt visits Jesse at the hospital for the second time, by himself. As Walt walks in and take a seat, he is lined up directly with a picture hanging on the wall. That picture is a "Stairway to Heaven". It's clear as day, but is blended in so well that the typical viewer would pay no attention. I find it very symbolic bc Walt is on a "stairway to heaven". Very powerful stuff! Coincidence? I think not.

There are other moments in Breaking Bad like this, anyone have some to share?

Gale and the future

Another story line that I hope does not disappear is the Gale situation. Gale's "death" was another season ending cliff hanger and his "death" happens "off screen." But, I don't hold out much hope for his survival as a storied character. I think he could be developed into a megatron character if the writers want to.

Cliff Hanger Let Down

BB is a great TV show and it has earned all it's awards. But, it is not without flaws. The airplane crash is one of those flaws. In season 2 we are teased with endless clips of flotsam bears and men in hazard suits coming and going at Walt's house. Then in the final episode, two planes collide over Walt's house and rain down debris and bodies. Plus, this tragedy is the fault of Jane's father Donald and his grief over her death. But in season three, this entire story line is orphaned. The crash story is concluded with a weepy pep rally where Walt acts kind of creepy. Then, the character that caused it all is killed "off screen" in an apparent suicided. Gee, kind of a let down after the build up.

Hank

Hank started out as a DEA agent in complete "bullying"control of everything in his environment. Now he is none of that. He can't even exert control over his lower body. I suspect his boss is in league with Gus. And, the transfer to El Paso was an attempt to stop him from investigating the "Blue Meth". It was no accident that Hank was present for the exploding tortoise. They want to kill him.

humiliating characters

Is this thing with making the story so much fixable while beeing made really that good?

In my opinion, I won't say you are going to make soap opera because this show is just so very good, but man why don't u make it epic?

Yes, epic, it could be done without so much fast story changes and even faster conclusions to mix ups, plus another thing that you do with so much changes to the story is that you started to humiliate characters a bit too much, which is the exact thing theese characters shouldn't be tolerating or at least without their vengance,

Now I know where all my forks are going!

This has nothing to do with BB. But, it is so cute and so funny I had to share. The off season makes for strange bedfellows.

Vince Gilligan Talks Breaking Bad

Have you guys seen this video? It's of Vince Gilligan and Michelle MacLaren talking about developing a storyline for Breaking Bad. It was done at an IBG charity event in September. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0_UWilobVg

Bad Boys instead of Breaking Bad

WTF AMC??? You need to get your shit straight. Im trying to catch up on this show and you keep interrupting me with these lame ass movies like Once Upon a TIme in Mexico and Bad Boys. Once again, please pull your heads out of your fourth point of contact and air the shows the way you advertise. Thanks.

Long Wait For DVD Release ofSeason 3 Of Breaking Bad

A lot of people I know watch shows like Breaking Bad on DVD AFTER they have shown on TV. Amongst these people I'm afraid the BUZZ has left the building due to the VERY LONG period of time that has passed and still no DVD release of Season 3. Not sure what the thinking is on this but AMC has really dropped the ball and killed the buzz for a lot of us.

New info on Breaking Bad Season 4

Just a tidbit, I was just looking at the episode list on IMDb and was surprised they had a working title for ep 2. It's called "Thirty-Eight Snub"

They also show Jim Beaver as playing 'Lawson'.

2011 BB season start date?!

I thought the new season of my favorite show on TV was set for March. The AMC/BB website does not list a date for the new BB season. Anybody know when it will start?

Aaron Paul on TV tonight!

How well I remember those rare Sunday evenings featuring back-to-back Aaron Paul. The viewer could watch him in "Big Love" on HBO at 9PM, then turn to AMC to watch him as a very different character on "Breaking Bad." Alas those days are over, but tonight he's back for the series finale of "Big Love" premiering at 9.

The redraw time for the forum has quadrupled. Anyone else having redraw refresh problems?

There seems to be a new software version on the forum and it is too slow. I end up leaving the site because of the wait time.

Timing AND recording screwed up this week!

I don't know if it was a glitch in my local provider (BrightHouse, Florida) or AMC, but both episodes that I recorded Wednesday night/Thursday morning were unwatchable...pictures broken up, sound garbled. Additionally, both were cut off before the last act. WTF, AMC?

Hello does any1 know

THANKS WHOEVER?

Thank you so much to whoever is responsible for taking down the Raven White... post. In hindsight (20/20) I totally understand why my response was removed as well. Please beleve me when I say that I am so sorry about my lapse in judgement it won't happen again.

What television show which aired in the 90's introduced us to three of Breaking Bad's main men?

3rd Rock from the Sun. Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Bob Odenkirk made guest appearances.

where are the webisodes??

Bryan cranston had talked about webisodes to hold us over while we wait for season 4 that touch on the story shortly after filming started well they've been filming for 2 months now and still no webisodes I was wondering if anybody had any idea when they will come out

On location with Br Ba @ Hank and Maries House

3/10 - Some friends of mine called me yesterday to tell me that Br Ba was filming up in their neighborhood. Unfortunately I did not get their message until it was too late...but they called me again early this morning and said that they were back. So needless to say I was on my way.
I arrived at 8am filming did not start until about 9am.
Most of the primaries were there: Betsy, Dean, RJ, Anna and of course Bryan, whom you will remember from my last posting "Thanks" introduced himself to me at the location of Walt's apartment. This morning I once again I met Bryan and he in turn - later today - sent Betsy over - what a pleasure it was to meet her. I also got a chance to talk to some of the crew that I have gotten somewhat acquainted with in between takes and met and talked with a few others as the day went on. They wrapped, or as they say Martini time at about 7:30pm.
I cannot tell you all how great everyone involved with Br Ba from cast members I have met to crew, they are gracious and accommodating and a pleasure to be with.
Once again I would like to thank everyone I met today, with a special shout out to Bryan for remembering me.

Why was Breaking bad delayed last night?

BB was half hour late, DVR didn't record all of the episode. That sucks. AMC are you going to replay it for those trying to "catch up"?

When is the next season starting?

Does anyone know when the next season is going to start in 2011

Happy Birthday Walter White

Today is Walter White's Birthday. He is 55. Happy Birthday Mr. Cranston!!!
