Talk: Breaking Bad: June 2010
Vince Gilligan announces season four premiere for July 2011
In a recent interview with Screenjunkies, Breaking Bad's creator Vince Gilligan, announced that that the show may not be on the air until July of next year. A WHOLE EFFIN YEAR! Although there is some good news to this. He says that it'll give the crew some lead time to give it there best. But still. It's to much damn time :(
http://www.screenjunkies.com/tvnews/breaking-bad-wont-return-until-july-2011
Season 4 focus on characters
In the Godfather, Coppola shows us the gangland murders that ultimately put Michael in power, cut to an Opera. Its a very effective device to move the plot along and get back to character development and avoid the boredom that might come from a series of X begat Y and Y begat Z episodes.
The Boldest filmaker in this manner is Ozu who would leave out entire major events (weddings, funerals) because every one knows what they are to again, get back to character.
How would folks feel if Vince & Co. just jumped ahead to where Walt and Jesse have consolodated power. and only leave us clues/hints/flashbacks to clarify how that came to be.
Money Laundering and the REAL Drug Kingpins
I read a story at Bloomburg News today and immediately thought of Breaking Bad -- only this story isn't TV drama, it is TRUE and it's about one of the largest banks in the USA and their real-life money laundering practices that aided Mexican drug cartels! Read it at this link:
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-06-29/banks-financing-mexico-s-drug-cartels-admitted-in-wells-fargo-s-u-s-deal.html
Relapse
As I predicted, Jesse relapsed. Some say 'Once a junkie, always a junkie.'
Question:
Will the emotional toll resulting from Gales murder further Jesses drug abuse? Or will the murder affect Jesse in a positive way and help end his addiction?
Any thoughts?
Where was contest winner?
Does anyone know what episode last years contest winner was in?
Another Contest?
I missed last year's... I was hoping they'd have another one before Season 4!
Anyone Happen to Notice??????
Every single character in the whole show, with the exception of the newborn, have or ARE BREAKING BAD? Is there ONE character who is not? or has never?
SEASON 4 FAN IDEA
Hank gets hooked on pain meds and buys oxycontin from skinny Pete, who accidentally drops a bag of Blue while getting the pills for Hank. Hank, reminded of Sun Tzu "know thy Enemy" decides to take the bag from Pete and privately tries it to see why he fights to get it off the streets and1.gets hooked or 2. remembers what he is fighting and rehabs to get back out there....
Tea Kettle or Gale Vote Now
Does Jesse shoot the Tea Kettle or Gale...Vote now...Vote often
Auditions
Does anybody know where and when Breaking Bad auditions are taking place for season 4, if any at all?
My Series Finale
I know it won't take up an entire episode, but in my finale, Badger and Skinny Pete become the two main characters (assuming everyone else is in jail or dead or something, since in the American film industry, law breakers and drug dealers don't get happy endings). The series ends with both of them finishing step 12. It may not seem important, but I think it would be funny to throw that in at the end, after the earlier part where Jesse asks them why they're still going to the NA meetings if they're not going to sell to the people and they talk about being on steps 2 and 5.
Season 3 Finale - Open Thread
Talk about the Season 3 Finale, "Full Measure."-->
If Jesse killed Gale...
If Jesse killed Gale, which appears to be what happened both according to Vince Gilligan ( http://www.avclub.com/articles/vince-gilligan,42064/ ) and what I judge to be the most plausible demarche, it strikes me that there is a strong possibility that Jesse would turn the gun on himself after he kills Gale. Jesse seems to have had enough. It's not a prediction I want to make, but I can not help but think that killing Gale would impel Jesse to subsequently take his own life.
Fan Art / Fan Stuff
I've been coming across some fan art for Breaking Bad as of late, and I've really enjoyed seeing everything I've come across. I thought this would be fun to start a thread where you can share your fan-pieces, or share ones you've come across.
So, to start, here's a silly little parody I did in anticipation of Season 3:

Has anyone mention the return of the skulls?
Up until Season 3 Jesse wore nothing but T-shirts with skulls. This season all Jesse wore where shirts with peace signs and the like. I even think he wore one with Jesus on it once. In the last 60 seconds of season3 there it is the first thing I seen when Gale opens the door the infamous skull T-shirt. It was very simillar to what they call a "dead head" associated with the Hells Angles not the Jerry Garcia kind of dead head. I was just wondering who else noticed that.
Gus is not as smart as we've been led to believe.
Walt is an amazing chemist and Gus highly respects him. Would he really kill him, especially after cutting off his connections with the cartels, just because he killed a couple of low-ranked, corrupt drug dealers? Also, I think it's highly unlikely that two drug dealers of their likes would be working directly for Gus. With his 200 pounds a week, I'd think he would have lower distributors working for him, not street level drug dealers directly.
Season 3 Finale
Two words for the Season 3 Finale: Holy Sh*t!
SHOT DOESN'T MEAN DEAD
There seems to be a lot of conversation concerning whether or not Jesse shot and killed Gale, as if one is mutually inclusive of the other. Shouldn't we explore the option of Gale being critically wounded but not dead? A serious wound to the head has all the advantages of death (i.e. Walt safe for now) but provides so much more story opportunities.
-While Gale is in critical condition Walt will still be needed to cook for Gus
-Walt and Jesse could battle about finishing Gale off
-Gale could end up in physical therapy with Hank
-We could see how the near death experience affect Gales innocent nature
-Walt has yet another person he hides the truth from
-Interaction between Jesse and Gale
What song would you want to die by?
Gale chose ve go張帆, "Man Chang Fei" I would've with "A day in the life" by The Beatles. What song would you want to die listening to?
Gale: " I m not gone, I am only sleeping".
I do not believe that Vince would kill Gale. But if he does, I want his stuff! This song seems to fit Gale. Vince, please spare him!!

Fun with Breaking Bad
The DVDs have episodes with commentary which I find very interesting. My favorite comments are what I call "fun facts". For example: Walt and Jesse wear the same ski masks with the snowball on top when they kidnap Saul as they do when the chemical supply company is robbed. I have a few observations of my own and was looking for more. Just for fun, enjoy.
Plot oversight?
I'm too time challenged to read all the comments right now. That being said, has anyone else thought that Gus was endangering his business with his decision to kill Walt? What's to say that he hadn't divulged EVERYTHING to Skyler including the address of the lab and the identities of all involved? If Walt disappeared surely she would be suspicious and know right where to send the authorities. Is this a huge oversight by the writers or did I miss something?
How Shocked is Gus?
Has Walt's defiance of Gus (killing his two dealers and Gale; letting Jesse go; accusing Gus of ordering a hit on a child) thrown Gus? My feeling is that all those things combined over a 24 hour period pushed Gus toward the decision to kill Walt immediately. Do you think it is because Gus discovered he didn't know Walt's character and couldn't predict how Walt would react in any given situation, therefore Gus couldn't trust him? How is Gus going to handle Walt in the future? I think Gus prides himself on be very stealthlike in his tactics, until he met chaos whose name is Walt. Somehow, strategy doesn't seem like it will be able to rein in chaos, so what's a person to do?
What would you rather be saying?
In a recent interview with Alan Sepinwall, Vince Gilligan was asked:
"We've talked in the past about your idea that you see this as a four-season show. Given where we've come by the end of this season, do you still feel that way?"
In short, Gilligan Responded:
"I want to satisfy the audience as much as I humanly can. But I think it would be more satisfying for people to say, "Jesus, I wish they ran a little longer" than for them to say, "Man, that show used to be good, and then I just lost all interest because it became the same old thing, week in and week out." Of those two possibilities, I'd prefer the first."
aaaahhhhrrrrggggghhhh!
Hurry up and start the next season !!!!! Love you guys !!! And hate you!
Sincerely your number one and number two fans !!!

Vanishing Peripheral Characters...
Ted, Gretchen, Elliot, Walter's mom, Andrea, her son, Hank's boss, Gomie? Where art thou?
Is the show going to answer questions they have introduced about these characters? The storyline feels fragmented, and disjointed; I long for the connection and cohesiveness in material I know BB can deliver. What do you guys think?
Channeling the Chameleons
So many stunning actions in the finale.
Jesse commits his first murder; Walt outwits Gus and Mike; Gus arranges Walt and Jesse's demise; Skyler accepts money laundering as a way to help her sister.
It was mindboggling watching all the characters assume and assimilate actions and behaviors that had been used by other characters. Walt outwits Gus; Skyler takes on Walt's rationalizing to help her sister; Jesse becomes the designated killer at Walt's behest (similar to the 10 year old kid doing the hit on Combo); Mike is the victimized dupe (as Walt was being duped by Gus). The action was fast and overwhelming - I loved how it was all orchestrated for the characters.
Favorite Moment Mike's absolute look of shock when he realizes Walt has ordered the hit on Gale.
If ever there was a moment where Walt truly graduated to "Gus" status for brutality and coldness, that was it. Most heartbreaking moment was Jesse killing Gale, but it was Jesse's graduation moment, too.
Season 2 was a hell of a lot better!!!
Season 3 was a total let-down......the show is losing its direction.
R.I.P. Gale Boetticher
As season 3 ends, how do you feel in regards to the death of Gale? Mad, sad, glad, BAD?
What are your thoughts?
Breaking Bad Season 4 and on predictions
A list of predictions for Season 4 and on.
Breaking Bad has been renewed for a 4th season.
Ratings have increased 20% this season making it the most popular series on cable network.
Will all the characters return? Walter will for sure but for the rest of the cast, they're expendable, yes even Jesse isn't a sure thing. Guess it all depends on salary demands. A lot can happen been now and when filming resumes. Personally, I'd like to see more of Sal and less of Jesse. Skyler has been a total bore this season except for when she was having an affair, she plays a good MILF.
I like Gus much better than Hank. Marie is good but needs to sex it up a bit. Walter Jr. needs to go.
My main complaint with the series is that there are only 13 episodes...that's too few to sustain a cult following. Maybe they'll increase it to 20 for season 4.
Brain Storming Breaking Bad (Show Ideas)
Post here any ideas for the show. Post each idea seperate. Keep it short
Season 2 Episode 11 - Hoodie
Trying to find this hoodie. Anyone know who makes/made it??? http://i49.tinypic.com/2nkqfk1.jpg
Would you be an investor for Breaking Bad seasons to continue?
Before canceling Breaking Bad because of what it costs for each episode consider this!
If it is a money thing that cancels Breaking Bad, I for one would be willing to invest money to continue to keep the series and Walter alive. If every BB fanatic would send $5 - $10 dollars this could be a first series owned by the viewers. This is how much I love this show. Start an Investment Group and maybe even let us investors make suggestions about the shows. Awesome idea I think
I want some stock in this show!!!
WHAT DO YOU THINK???
Season 4 behind the scenes
http://www.deadline.com/2010/06/breaking-bad-picked-up-for-3rd-season/#more-46642
wow 3 million an episode
No wonder it's just 13 episodes a season
I think we're looking at 5 seasons tops
(or maybe the way the cost per episode continues to go up (despite the fact they are alreay shooting out of California) Gilligan might just decide to wrap it up in season 4. I'm just guessing here but the bottom line and studio realities have to be considered no matter what the fans want.
I also think Walt is going to be forced to bring Hank in on his secret (using Hank's connections) in order to protect his family since Gus obviously is prepared to let him go
shot me- then cut to black. It is getting old
How many times are they going to shoot someone in the last 15 seconds, then fade to black. I'm getting desensetized to BB's formula. 3, times this season, now the finale. I found Jesse's emotion, and new, his eyes were what were moving to watch, as he held the gun. If they had just not faded to black right away, and held the camera on him or somthing else like the tea kettle, in the room for a coupple seconds afterwards, with steam, and you could hear him breathing, it would have been move intense. I can't stand this abrupt Cut to black, it's not natural.
Rubicon Sneak Preview
I am so glad I rushed home for a sneak preview of some show called Rubicon. Seriously AMC, just when I start to like you, you go and pull something like this!
This is a joke... Right?
Am i really supposed to wait a whole year to see what's gunna happen.
Season 3 Episode 12 - Open Thread
Talk about Episode 12, "Half Measures."
What do you see when you look inside of Walter White's pants?
A half measure.
Uncomfortably Hot
I'd like to start off by saying how Outstanding this show is. This is my first Open Talk Thread and I love seeing all of the different insites people have on this show and their predictions on the show's next move.
Keep it up BB fans!
Three Thousand Character's.
Why? I tried to respond to my What is worse topic. But couldn't do or edit for under 3000 words. I tried, but being the Bad Woman that I Am couldn't. So here it is. Didn't mean to start a new topic. But its the internet.
Just Plain Awesome
First time posting ever. Just wanted to say...for me season 3 seemed to be dragging a bit, but over the last 3 episodes the show has come back to it s true form. ep 12 was fantabulous! cant get enough of this....the last 3 shows have left me wanting more. In my books that means great job!
What is worse.
Drug companies advertising lots of interesting drugs that are covered under health care plans throughout the insurance industry. Drugs that you absolutely need and must ask your doctor about to cure yourself from being on other drugs. We have all seen them on the TV. Everything from Viagra, Ambien, Cialis, Lipitor, Xanex, Paxil to name a few. What is it that so many people in the world trust these drugs? Ambien, what the hell is that made of? Known results through the FDA prove's that it make's people sleep walk, with no remembrance of having done it. Lipitor actually can increase cholesterall levels in many human bodies, Xanex has increased suicides. Paxil has increased the amount of Law Firms advertising for people who've been affected on a class action suit. Why isn't Pot where everyone can grow on their own legalized? Because the drug companies have such a choke hold on our government.. The thought that anyone could and should use the nearest and dearest available plants to heal themselves would take away from profits from Pfizer, Abbott's. I guess what I'm asking is why is that so many people here in the United State's are so afraid to speak up? Sincerely. Tweeds
Walt's Meth
Would anyone here if given the opportunity to sample the Blue do it?

3/13 cliffhanger What'll it be?
If your the sort who peeks at the video from next week in the video section you know a small bit from next week- but I won't spoil that here for those who like to watch each episode fresh
Walt's double life makes a choice season 4 ?
So we know that Walt has a few million in cash by now. His financial status is where he had wanted it to be since the first episode of season 1
But now he is entrenched in this life and you can't just put in a two weeks notice and walk away from 'the streets'
Gus, as we've seen, has been able to balance a nice calm peaceful homelife with his chicken franchise/drug operation
But can every man do that?
Jesse on the run in season 4 ?
WOW what an ending!
Walt stepped up and saved Jesse by taking out those guys by killing again (the first time- if memory serves, was when he choled that guy in Jesse's basement in self defense as they guy was going to try and stab him with a piece of broken plate)
Now we can assume that Jesse will have to leave town and this would be great for the show. heres why...
Skyler White's bracelet
She has been wearing it this whole Season. Is there some meaning behind it? It is really hip and cute.... but wondered if there is more to it.
please make a season 4
Please make a season 4 guys if Amc wont pick you up for a season 4 you can make this a movie on the big screen and wrap it up in that movie or make it a 2 parter and release the second one a few months after the first one
Season 3 Episode 11 - Open Thread
Talk about Episode 11, "Abiquiu."
Why Meth instead of MDMA/ecstacy?
If Walt is a chemist, why is he making Meth instead of Ecstacy. I though people made meth because they didn't have the skills or resources to make other drugs. Isn't MDMA a better high and less toxic? Wouldn't Walt make more money selling MDMA?
HELP! I'll be in Cancun during the Finale.
Help! I will be on vacation in Cancun Mexico on the date of the Finale, does anyone know if Breaking Bad will be available to watch or am I totally screwed?
Is it just me....
or is this season unusually short? It feels like the season just started & the finale is already coming up!
Elliot and Gretchen keep coming to mind
I have absolutely NO basis for this, but I'll pose it nonetheless: Is there ANY possible scenario whereby Elliot and Gretchen could still be involved in Walt's predicament?!?! I don't know what it is, but something in the back of my mind keeps telling me the two of them are going to suddenly reappear some sunday night when I least expect it. I have no insight into Vince Gilligan's thought process, was never a fan of "The X-Files", and have no reasonable explanation for thinking this way. Can someone please dispel this nagging feeling and convince me otherwise?
Bad Girl!
Will a topic take more than 3000 words? Hope springs eternal! Tried to post to Pest, Exceeded the 3000 word limit. Oh well.
Brandon "Badger" Mayhew and Skinny Pete are smarter thab Jesse
It was so hilarious to hear Jesse call Walter "Grandpa Anus" and then blame him for supply problems. Next he tried to dis Peter and Brandon for being at a meeting. They don't care about supply problems or even selling what they got. They are getting better. He made a big fool out of himself.
WHOA...1 hour 40 minute season finale??
found this...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903747/board/thread/164121522
can anyone confirm this???
"Revolt of the Cockroach People"
The title of this thread is taken from a novel by Oscar "Zeta" Acosta...aka "Dr.Gonzo" of the "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" story, and, friend & colleague of Hunter S. Thompson. =)
After re-watching the movie, "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas"-- it made me wonder if every time Saul says, "As your attorney I recommend you..._________" (Fill in the blank!)
Is that a nod towards the character of Dr. Gonzo since he was an actual attorney?
cannibalism in finale?
I have a weird feeling that something is going to happen with someone getting Cooked. The show titles, Full, and half measure... and also, how Gus is a cook, and the knife, like he could fall into a vat or something... Any ideas
