Fly metaphors ( Episode 10 specifically)

In defense of the people who 'didnt get it" that the show seemed to be just an obsession with one little fly, this series (to me) is like a novel for television
Seriously

Look around you and your circle of friends. How many of them actively read more than a book every few months. If the total number is more than 1 you are very lucky. And thats why so many people don't "get" the Fly episode. And thats not a bad thing. It's just that that's all they can see. Just two guys chasing a fly with some slapschtick thrown in.
The show has a few extra layers than that. The show can be enjoyed on a couple of more levels than JUST 2 guys breaking bad
. Some can see that and others just see a show about two good guys who break bad for some fast cash
And thats okay.
The show works both ways for either viewer.
But if you don't read books, your missing so much more to life than just 'getting through a 300 pager'
I mean, you can still function and get through day to day life without reading, but that shouldnt be a bad thing. Just lost opportunity at a more expanded view of the world at large.
The biggest metaphor of the episode featured two differant flies actually. There was the slow motion of the fly (slapped down by Jesse) bouncing on the floor at Walt's feet for one. And the final scene where a brand new fly (they do seem to be ever present in all of our lives) that is around and wakes Walt up, which brought the episode full circle. To that point, (in my opinion) the main character of this episode wasn't even around. But he was strongly felt (for me)
GUS.
Jesse is the fly (contaminant) in Gus' operation. WE the viewer already know that Gus would prefer that Jesse not be there except for Walt.
And then, the final scene where the fly is buzzing around bothering Walt.
Both Walt AND Jesse are the flies that are buzzing around bothering Gus. As long as they mind their business (for Gus) and don't buzz too closely, Gus is tolerant. For now.
Hank is a fly that is buzzing around for all the players. For now, he has been swatted and out of the picture. For now.
There are also flies themselves.
If i recall my science corerectly, a fly has a pretty short life. Google it.
But again- in defense of those who "just" saw two guys chasing a fly. Its not a bad thing.
Actually, the FLY episode can be seen as a re-run of sorts. It can be seen as a metaphor about the whole series. What with the average person's reaction to the common housefly and what they represent. Including the fact that there are so many more of them than us and that they have always been around and will (despite their short lives) will always be around.
I could do so much more here but this already the length of a novel. See? theres another metaphor!
