How do you hope it all turns out?

Let me first say that I am not a TV enthusiast, but I absolutely love this show and have just finished watching the entire series to date after purchasing it from iTunes. Amazing!

But, what I wanted to say was this: I know that Walt has to pay for the bad karma created from his bad decisions, but I hope that in the end there is some redemption and a relatively happy ending for him. I have read reviews that have said he's not a particularly "likeable" character, but I disagree. I think he's a very sympathetic character, with an inner core of decency. I hope that, in the end, whenever the show should wrap up (and I hope that's not too soon), he should ultimately have a "happy" ending. It would be a shame to invest so much in these characters only to have him floating in the Rio Grande as a victim of the cartel or something.

What do you think?

The song in the beginning of Episode 7 (Negro y Azul) of Season 2 foreshadows everything.

i want a happy ending for Walt also and i hope that the show keeps its artitstic integrety and does not drag it out to the point of being extreamly unrealistic

I think you've lost your mind. I am the biggest fan of this show. Huge! I tell everyone about it. Everyone. I get defensive when people say they don't want to watch it... but here's the thing; Walt is cooking meth. This is an illegal harmful substance. This will ruin your life and kill you slowly. I love Walt, and Cranston's acting, but there is no way out for Walt. He is looping his own noose and sliding it over his head and tightening it around his neck. If he can find redemption then so be it, but the writer's shouldn't just let him off the hook. I would be pretty pissed if that was the case.

My two cents.

My life partner was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in december. Of course cooking meth is not an option for us, it does touch home for me, especially watching a whole generation of friends and family die and/or rot in prison in Arizona behind the CIA drug empire! "They" make BANK right? killing our children and making America the definition of "DYSFUNCTIONAL". i can see why Walt went down this path. I hope he does "BREAK" his BAD behavior and "rise" above the situation as people CAN do. I hope his family grows past this, We look forward to the new season! This show "rocks"!!!! Now a grandma in Az, fuzzyd bear

laz3000: Life has a way of PISSING people off doesn't it? How many folks have "created" very BAD karma on THIS planet and don't seem to pay for it??????

My hope is really about Jesse, as always. Maybe because he's the younger generation and his "path" is still before him. Jesse's million choices, chances, and paths are still awaiting him, and hopefully he will have all his wits and all the time in the world to make use of them.

Walt, being closer to my age group (56) has had 50+ years of choices. He's been given an expiration date, and now a "stay" on that expiration date, so he still has a "future" left for some some choices to be made, BUT being closer to the endgame of his life - it's all about the quality of his exit from this planet and what kind of social, psychological, moral, ethical, and meaningful footprint or legacy he's going to be leaving others to deal with. Walt's dilemma? A graceful, beneficial exit or a path of molten lava waiting to destroy those who are tied to him.

Walt should realize that he has the knowledge to make and market other products. Walt and Hank could get together to make beer. Gus could market it through his stores. Maybe Jesse could get a legitimate job in distributing it. That would be a great ending.

user-pic

I have a feeling that something may happen to Walt junior to send Walt over the edge, and finally back to sanity and to reality of just how dark a place he's in. It would also be the impetus for really pissing off Hank personally, as he really loves that kid!
Bryan Cranston said in an interview that season 3 is like "a rollercoaster going backwards". Walt may have to go down, but he will take a whole lotta bad guys with him.

Hey...what if the cousins turn out to be Tuco's cousins from Mexico. Remember the episode where Tuco kidnapped Jesse and Walt and said his cousins were on the way there to pick them up?

Skylar should get arrested for helping Beneke hide his income.

Hi Fuzzy Bear I hope your life partner beats the cbomb. Is there any real evidence supporting the claim that the CIA has sold drugs?
in this show Walts health insurance wont pay for his treatment, has your life partners insurance been better?

At the end of the first season, I wanted the happy ending for Walt. In my mind, that meant he would live and decide, on his own, that he'd get out of the business and have a good family life again.

In spite of the fact that Walt's odds are better now and he has a respite from the cancer, he's chosen to continue down the dark path. He doesn't need the money, but he likes the power and the game. And now that Skyler has an inkling, the likelihood of getting out of this unscathed in some fashion has lessened.

Still, the part that makes me the most sad is that Walt has kind of screwed up Holly's life, intentionally or not. She and Walt Jr. don't deserve this and if Walt and Skyler can't go back to the way they were, I'd still like their children to have a chance at being happy in the future.

Walter White Is an anti-hero. His fate is sealed. He will die. But Jessie will live and be better for the death of Walter.

user-pic

My wish is for Jessie to move on and get over the death of Jane and find himself......a Jessie that likes himself for once and proves to his parents, he wasn't such a "bad apple" in the family as they had treated him for so many years; to find his talents, his self worth and trust in himself without the meth.

I am not sure Walt will be able to redeem himself quite so easily as we all wish...too much has gone down with Walt, his anger at himself and at the world. I believe Vince Gilligan will really test the fans of Walt to the limit and see if the loyalty for Walt will stay.

user-pic

I don't see any other way for this to end but in disaster. If it does have a happy ending I will pick up my tv and throw it!

Walt makes meth, a drug that kills slowly and destroys families (peekaboo). He does it to "help his family". In process the of "helping" he has lost them. He has already discovered his dark side, and actually revels in it. He enjoys his newfound power. He just can't admit it to himself, especially now after the airplane crash. He will try to stuff Heisenberg back into the bottle, but something will happen to make him pop out. I think maybe the cousins will go after him, but his family will get caught in the crossfire.

He will eventually take Gus up on his offer, probably as a result of the cousins going after him. But he does enjoy being Heisenberg.

Jesse is another story altogether. I would like to see Jesse to survive, get clean, go straight, whatever. He was just a typical stoner kid who got caught up in something that is now out of control. But now it looks like Jesse has embraced his dark side.

I agree with you gracie concerning Walt. Walt doesn't have his family surrounding him now and Skyler is on her way to divorce Walt from the family which will throw Walt into a stage of "I have nothing else to lose". So what gives Walt a sense of empowerment????...making the purest Meth, called Blue Sky that everyone wants and this gives Walt his "sense of worth" again after losing everything else around him.

I'm pretty content letting the writers come up with the surprising twists and turns and eventual ending for this show. They have done a good job so far. But I swear to god if it ends with Walt, Skyler and Flynn eating onion rings and listening to Journey in a dinner I will shoot my TV set so help me!!!

I can't imagine Walt finding redemption his fate has go to be more like what level of hell is he aiming for. I'll probably be ticked if he does. But if he does, it better be believable and excrutiating for him. Jesse on the other hand may be saved, probably after he kills Walt - but that would be too easy. I don't want the show to make it too easy to guess.

If this ends with Walt, Skyler and Flynn eating onion rings and listening to Journey in some New Jersey dinner, so help me I will SHOOT MY FREAK'N TV.

I'm pretty content with the plot twists so far so I trust the writers to come up with a good wicked twisted end. I find it hard to believe Walt could find redemption, he seems to be aiming for the lowest level of hell he can achieve. Jesse on the other hand may find redemption after he slays Walt. If Walt does get redemption in this show it better be painful and excrutiating as well as believeable to his character. And even then I probably won't buy it. HANK MUST REMAIN A HERO!!!

user-pic

There's got to be redemption for Walt. I sure hope Walt changes, not just back to what he once was, but something better. Someone with a voice, someone who stands up to life a bit more and is able to speak up, someone who doesn't need an alter ego like Hiesenburg to be who he already is. Walt is a complex person, and I don't see Hank as the only hero, that's way too black and white. Walt has a lot of heroic and self sacrificing qualities, we are just not seeing them right now. That's the tragedy, Walt could have been not just good, but great.

user-pic

from seeing interviews with vince gilligan (the mastermind) he seems very intellectual and intelligent,i think he can keep this show relevant for a long time to come-i hope!!!!

I hope it ends like the "Wild Bunch". A real Sam Peckinpah ending where no one is left standing. That would be the best way to end it. AMC needs to show HBO that their writers have balls. Not sell out and have a "Soprano" ending where the protaganist is left alive with a vague ending so that they can have a "Where are they now show" a few years from now if the Network needs a shot in the arm. Let's show HBO how a series should end when gangsters are involved. Live by the Sword......Die.........

default userpic

It's a moralistic show & meth is a terrible drug so Walt must be punished for his choices. He's already going to die from the cancer, so there can be no happy ending here. Walt probably thinks he has nothing to lose now that his family is gone, but the cousins can (and probably will) make things much, much worse for him.

I like Walt and want him to do well, just as I wanted Tony Soprano to do well even though he was also an awful man. As Vince Giligan said, even a broken clock is right twice a day so Walt will have a few respites but the progression is from bad to worse here.

Walt feels he was dealt a crummy hand in life--bad job, financial trouble and then cancer. I think the show has shown that Walt's job and financial position were *his* choices--Gretchen and Eliot did not kick him out; he left willingly. The cancer is not his choice, obviously, and in that respect Walt is a victim of fate, but the choices he makes from there are clearly wrong. He could have bought himself the same time if he had taken G & E's money, but his pride forbid it.

So in a sense it's a story of the Fall, an old theme. It uses familiar elements like the "unflinching walk" (not looking back at the explosion, first Walt with the jerk lawyer, then Tuco's office, then the cousins). A great story doesn't have to be new, though--every story is different because the characters are different. This is a great show because it makes the old seem new and exciting and because we cannot help but feel for (and root for) the main characters.
