Talk: Breaking Bad: December 2009

Please let AMCTV know what you think about the LOUD VOLUME of the commercials

I am actually so bothered by the volume of the commercials that I am going to find the best way to start a petition to AMC management about the abusive volume of commercials. It is counter productive for the advertisers. I assume many like me MUTE the commercials. I would think emailing the actual advertisers would get the best reaction. Please tell me I am not the only one out here. I am just tired of having my wife scream down the stairs everytime the commercials come on

new season

Will there be one? If so; WHEN????????????

Season 2 gets Blu-ray release

It's finally happening. This was announced today:

Thank you AMC, but please do the same with season one!

Golden Globes

What's up with the Globes, absolutely no love at all for BB.

DVR--on demand???

HELP! I cannot find past episodes of Breaking Bad on my DVR on demand. Is it not available yet? Am I limited to renting the Season 1 DVD? Or does the website have all of the episodes of Season 2 online? I just started watching this show and it's amazing.

Fans - Do you want a Marathon?

BB Fans - let's "petition" AMC for a BB Marathon, starting soon! My interest in AMC programming has diminished the last month or more (really since MM ended). I miss the Whites and Jesse. Please put a marathon on, maybe New Year's Day!

Matchbox picture

Did anyone else notice that the matchbook Walt is using to start his money fire, has a picture of a balding man on it? Is that Saul?

John Steinbeck"s "The Pearl"

I am sure you all have read John Steinbeck's, "The Pearl". The story involves poverty, struggle and greed. The story takes place in Mexico and is a mixture of Mexican folk lore and Steinbeck's creativity.

Look at this link to read a brief recap:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pearl_%28novel%29

When Hank flung Tuco's grill into the Rio Grande, was he a Kino character? Did that grill bring him fame and misfortune? And, is the scene with Walt burning money a metaphor of " Kino flinging the pearl back into the sea?" Has harm come to Walt Junior like it did to Coyotito?
There are many characters in place in "Breaking Bad" that parallel this short story.

Marie in Season Three

I think Marie is the untapped wild card in this story. She is just as deviant as any character we have seen so far. She is a shoplifter(thief), she is self absorbed, she has contempt for Hank and her "therapist" and she is a self promoter.
I wonder why she steals? Could she have a meth problem we have not heard about yet. Hank was very vague when he admitted that "Marie has a problem and we are seeing a counselor."
Could Marie and her problems be a significant influence in the Season Three story line?

Season 2 on DVD?

Does anyone know when Season 2 will be released on DVD, please?

Thanks in advance!

THE OTHER SON

Over the course of two seasons, in both very subtle nuances and the severity of nearly every situation those guys faced, Walt & Jesse's partnership became more of an, awkward, friendship.

The Tuco saga turned that awkward friendship into a solid (yet still secret) one.

Later during Walt's "visit with his mother", his advice and positive encouragement to Jesse came as a surprise, but it was so... necessary. Walt told Jesse something to the effect of "I believe in you, Jesse. You can do this," and it became clear that Walt's trust and kind words were all Jesse really needed.

Their bond / relationship is never fully identified though, until the last few episodes. Walter showed an incredible amount of compassion for Jesse... the kind desperate compassion and love that a father (or mother) has for a child who they feel is slipping away.

Although Flynn, aka Walt Jr. is undoubtedly the son of Walter White, I believe that mentally and emotionally, Walter has adopted Jesse as perhaps... the son he never had.

If Walt has truly lost his humanity,

Then why did he come to Jessie's rescue in the finale? Jessie was obviously of no more professional use to him, yet he saved him anyways. Walt clearly sees Jesse as more than a partner. The scene with Walt and Jesse at the rehab really reminded us that he is still human and still has love in his heart.
Everybody's acting like just because he let Jane die, that he's now some horrible monster who's turned completely over to the dark side, and its total crap. Jane had the power, and was still threatening to use it to destroy the remainder of Walt's life. Also she was destroying Jesse. Walt would have been either nuts or way too soft if he had tried to save her.

Breaking Bad and Poker

So here's my story, I am a huge fan of Breaking Bad, so much so that a friend and I had some shirts custom made, this is due to the fact that we can't buy any (Get with the program AMC, there's money to be made in merch).
We both wore our shirts to a Poker tournament last Wednesday and I ended up winning 1st place. (Covered the cost of the shirts and some).
I felt a little like Walt in that I couldn't afford to take the risk, but I couldn't resist the urge to make some money which was badly needed.
So far it's worked out as this was only my 3rd tournament ever.
The design on the shirt is the standard logo on front and on the back is a large version of the Breaking Bad challenge coin that was given away to participants in the talk forum.
Anyways, I'll get to the main point of this, I really need/want one of those challenge coins to use as a card protector along with my matching shirt for all my future tournaments (WSOP maybe ?...Want to sponsor me AMC ?).
If anyone has one they are willing to part with, I would be willing to trade a Breaking Bad test tube shot glass set for one.
If there is a god surely he'll want to make my Breaking Bad dream come true.
