Why doesn't AMC promote this show more???

I'd love to find out why AMC's marketingdepartment insists on hiding Breaking Bad and not capitalizing on BC's emmy win. This is a terrific show yet, Season 2 reruns are shown only ONCE a week (at midnight, no less). Why not do a BB marathon, advertise the hell out of it, and gain a whole bunch of new viewers?? This is the most secretive show on television - ratings and viewership could easily double if only AMC put a little promotion behind it. Frankly, i'm stumped!

It could be because the best shows/movies around are always spread by word of mouth... Ever find out your favorite music or movie from a friend? Happens to me a lot..

I doubt AMC has a huge marketing budget for Breaking Bad and I hope they keep it that way so only the cool people like us know about it.

I'm sure AMC would like more viewers/ratings to make more money, but it'd be sad if everyone all of a sudden was a huge fan because of some advertising scheme. Sorta like wearing a Super Bowl shirt right after they win...

It is rare when a television show can get better as you watch it. Each episode expands the plot with new characters that keeps the story fresh with many interesting, often funny or gripping sub plots. With the help of my DVR, I haven't missed an episode. The idea of a marathon would be great for someone who has not watched this show. I am sure it would draw in many dedicated fans that would continue to watch this show.

I hope AMC airs a marathon of the first two seasons before the third season begins, as they did of Season 1 right before the debut of Season 2. When I saw Bryan Cranston win his Emmy (the first one), I didn't know anything about the show, but it piqued my curiosity - So I was grateful when the marathon gave me the opportunity to catch up!

I first became aware of "Breaking Bad" by accident at about the "Four Days Out" episode. I was amazed at such quality from a pay cable channel. I think it is the best show on television (I have not gotten into "Mad Men," although I love the women's dresses) It's great to see a woman look like a WOMAN and makes me nostalgic.) I have tried to catch up by renting all available DVD's and was waiting at the video store when Year 2 was released. I was amazed how many people and video store employees seemed never to have heard of the show. AMC needs to promote the show more than just showing old episodes at midnight on Sunday (although sandwiching it between episoes of "Mad Men" is cleaver.) I wonder what will happen. How will Walt handle his wife leaving? Will she ever return, and how will it be explained? How will he explain the money that is pouring in? Will the shattered Jessie (a great actor, so much so that I first thought that he was a real "stoner") ever recover or find out Walt's role in Jane's death? Breaking Bad, indeed. Will Jane's haunted father reappear? I hope that we see more of Saul Goodman, a great character. He seems to be a man convinced of his own superiority and smarts. He may not be as smart as he thinks. The loss of Turco was a major disappointment, but understandable. A person so out of control was bound to come to a violent and senseless end. All in all, an estimable series and, in its own way as good as "The Sopranor" at its best.

Breaking Bad blows away everything. Shows like Mad Men and the Sopranos suck cock compared to Breaking Bad. There is a reason this show is called Breaking Bad, because it breaks all rules for shitty network TV. Like you'd ever see some stupid, fat New Yorker cooking crystal or strangling someone with a bicycle U-Lock on The Shitpranos.

Gilligan and the writers come up with the craziest plots I've ever seen and some of the extras are the weirdest people on Earth. Every episode is like a movie and every episode gets better and better.

The way AMC hypes and promotes Mad Men--which is juvenile and perverted at best--you'd think it was there only award winning original series. Breaking Bad has a better plot, an extremely talented cast, and writers that even Stephen King referred to as the best currently on television.

The reason AMC doesn't push BB nearly as much is b/c it is cerebral and takes a thinking human to watch, comprehend, and enjoy...while Mad Men, on the other hand, has the immediate mass appeal of fart jokes and tits b/c of it's gratuitous sexuality, junior high dialogue and generally ridiculous glorification of an unhealthy and disgusting lifestyle. About the only thing they got right was the 50's era wardrobes and the endless chain of cigarettes ingested at such firms.

Just to be fair: I thought the final episode of Breaking Bad's second season was kinda crappy. I expected so much more after those numerous "pool scene" teasers only to find out an airplane exploded over his house. Just not buying it--such suberb writing up until that point--seemed forced, like they didn't know how else to end it. Well, hopefully I am wrong and they will amaze me w/ season 3 and make all the bad thoughts go away. Besides that, BB has been flawless.

Any news on when season three is coming out?

If I may,I spoke with AMC on wednesday in N.Y. I asked that question she told me March 2010. That pisses me off but maybe thats why its such a quality production.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to say that I've recently discovered 'Breaking Bad' and I love this show. I've got to say, AMC really has me hooked. From Mad Men to Breaking Bad, I can't sing their praises any higher, unless I were a contralto, and being a woman, that wouldn't help me :-)
Bryan Cranston as Walter White simply rocks the house...I've Netflixed Season 1 & 2, and just can't get enough. I've seen meth run roughshod over several family members and friends of mine, which is why I was apprehensive to watch the show, initially. Now, I can't get enough of it...Christopher, you say not until March?? *sigh* Ah well, the best things in life are worth waiting for.....

I too am stumped as to why the total lack of advertising and dismayed that it is on at such an absurdly late hour... Hey I am pushin 60 and it's darn hard to get by on four hours of sleep.
I know, I could record the show, but I like the experience. Cannot wait for three...
