Robbed you were robbed.! In all of my TV watching years have I ever seen an actor put so much heart, soul and feeling into a role. Aaron Paul you had me on Sunday nights with my breath sucked in, kicked in the gut. heart breaking and in tears for Jesse Pinkman. You did such an amazing job this year on Breaking Bad I hope you know that. We love you Aaron. And the adward should have gone to Aaron Paul, best supporting actor in a drama.

Indeed. I was sad to see Aaron go home emmy-less.
I was cheering for him and everything. :(

Agreed....and ditto....

It saddens me to see that someone as outstanding at acting as him didn't receive an Emmy. Brian Cranston DEFINITELY deserved his Emmy because he's such a great actor, but I honestly think that Aaron Paul was the force behind season 2, and thus, should have been recognized for it. Oh well, there's always next year. Don't give up Aaron! You're still a winner to us Breaking Bad fans and I'm sure anybody who hasn't seen the show and watches it for the first time would agree.

Agreed with all comments. Aaron's performance was incredible. He brought to life the agony and horror of drug addiction. I don't think Cranston's performance could have been as powerful without Aaron's. It's too bad that he didn't mention him in his acceptance speech but he was right: the entire cast is brilliant. The second season was far better than the first. Aaron, keep up the good work. You are a great actor and will get your recognition. One problem with Breaking Bad is that it's about a topic most Americans don't want to think about but is all around us. It should be required viewing by all parents of high school students and probably the students themselves. To you all, keep up the good work.

Very disappointed Aaron Paul didn't get an Emmy because his hard earned nomination should have proven he was definitely an Emmy winner. Such talent that wasn't recognized is a damn shame. I was behind you all the way, Aaron knowing your ability was tops and some wouldn't be smart enough to see it. Keep up the incredible talent you possess and hopefully your rewards will come back to you!!! You are still a winner!!!!

It's always a crapshoot with awards. So many factors involved - who else is in the category, do the voters know your name, how the planets are lined up, etc., etc.

A bit of vindication for those of us who've been singing Aaron's praises was available last night - the encore showing of the wonderful "Peekaboo," in which he was just as awesome as we remember from the first time.

Aaron Paul's day for awards will come - for sure.

I'm SO glad that Bryan won the Emmy again. He's becoming the new James Gandolfini, and rightfully so! But it sucks that Aaron was robbed, and also that the show didn't win best drama. I hate Mad Men! Did you hear the crowd go nuts for Aaron though? When they were naming the nominees for best supporting actor, the crowd barely responded for the first three, but then when they said "Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad", you could hear a loud roar of cheering and applause! That right there shows how much people love the role of Jesse, and that he should have won the award instead of that freak from Lost! Oh well, the cheers he got may be even better than the award...maybe. ;)

Linda and rockmama, I love your avatars of Aaron and Bryan! :)

user-pic

I thought Bryan was gonna mention Aaron too. To me it seems like when I've seen him speak of Aaron he's always doating on him other times, but then you get just a few minutes to say your thanks.
I think maybe the subject matter could have been
against Aaron because his charater portrayed is also a younger charater and that may not be as appealing to some.I think Aaron might have been the youngest nominee last night too. ( don't quote me on that I'm just guessing.) Although the youngest Emmy winner was an 14 year old.
Aaron was truly robbed for sure.

user-pic

Hey James26..glad to see you back!!..the forum has missed you and your wonderful postings! Thanks for the compliment on my avatar...it's my own hand made design and its funny that approximately the same time I made my avatar, Rockmama came up with her's too....I guess great designers think alike!
Great having you back, James26!

Yes, Blue Runner, you might have a valid point of Aaron being the youngest nomination for an Emmy and might be the hestitation of why some idiot judge thought his age didn't deserve an Emmy. I was surprised Bryan didn't mention Aaron's name too during the acceptance speech. Bryan might have been so shocked himself for winning a second Emmy with the heavy competition he and Aaron was up against that he was a loss for words.

Aaron's performance in the "shooting gallery" also should have been shown when he grabbed Walt and hugged him, breaking down while sobbing of the pain he dealt with in that episode. That scene really proved the versatility of Aaron's acting ability beyond the street smart drug junkie and wise-cracking retorts with Walt.

The "shooting gallery" was a turning point for Aarons complex characterization and I was taken by surprise of his inner turmoil surfacing in that particular scene..it was heart-breaking to see Aaron "break" under the heartaches and stresses.

Aaron Paul is the best young actor on TV, period. He's got the best character to play with the best writing in the best show. Cannot wait for next season. Next year the Emmy is yours!

Keep up the good work Aaron.

user-pic

Thanks, Linda! It's good to be back. I haven't been around too much since season 2 ended. I can't wait for season 3! I'll be posting like a mad man again! (No "Mad Men" pun intended, lol.) :)

There actually seemed to be a pattern of older actors winning this year. The Bryan/Aaron situation was echoed in the TV-movie category, where Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore, who played mother and daughter in "Grey Gardens," were both nominated as Best Actress, and Ms. Lange won. It's as if when there was a team of actors, who played off each other so closely, the Academy opted to give the award to the senior member of the team, but the win could be considered recognition for the team effort.

Linda555, in the interest of full disclosure, I didn't design my Bryan/Aaron avi. It was a picture I found somewhere on the web (from the day they were doing interviews on their Emmy nominations). I was holding my breath that it would fit into that little square, and was thrilled when it did! :-)

user-pic

You may be right about the senior actor and younger actor thing. I'm glad that Aaron did get some recognition for his role. That cheering and applause when it showed a clip of him from BB was definitely satisfying! :)

user-pic

I agree completely. I didn't watch the Emmys and have been away from TV for a few days, so when I got online I ran over to see if any of the Breaking Bad cast/crew won... Jesse should have gotten it, no question. Aaron, your work is incredible.

Shoot, I like Michael Emerson but I do love Aaron. I've never seen Lost. Well I shouldn't say that. I watched a couple of episode's and was bored. But lots of my friends weren't. Many of whom didn't buy cable. Why? Cause they are/were working smarty pants types and didn't have the time to watch cable. Plus they love, love, love SCI FY no matter what! So do we. Michael has been around for along time, and does deserve this as much as anyone out there. I just love that so many great actor's were nominated. Now as to whom I'd prefer, crumbwise while eating chocolate chip cookies in my bed? Aaron of course!

Hi Tweeds! In most of my posts on here, I try to keep any fangirly feelings I might have for the "BB" guys secondary to musings about plot, theme and all that stuff But I must admit I was very tempted to riff on the title of this thread. Heh, heh, heh.

user-pic

The title of the thread came from the Christmas song ,"O come, all ye faithful".
Don't have many fangirly feelings towards Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman except for the fact that Aaron in my opinion by the end of the season had done Oscar deserving work.
I wanna man! Jon Hamm as Don Draper OMG!

user-pic

I understand and appreciate your thread, Blue Runner, and I've been singing the praises of Aaron Paul's acting for a long time. Sometimes I just get a little naughty. I guess the "show him your love here" line reminded me of the time on a board for a rock band, when one girl showed her love by posting a topless picture of herself. LOL.

user-pic

I totally agree, Aaron paul should of got an emmy. But emmy or no emmy he's doin a remarkable job playing jesse pinkman. Luckely bryan cranston took one of those statues home. Breaking bad is the best show on tv right now!! Can't belive ima have to wait like 6months for season 3, but im sure its gonna be worth the wait.

How can anyone call Aaron Pauls role as being a "street smart drug junkie" He is a great actor but it looks like the writers are making him out to be mostly inept. Skinny Pete has more street sense than Jessie. Jessie is just a pretty boy, in over his head.

user-pic

tweeds1..glad to see you back!

Aaron Paul grew on me in the series and as Vince disclosed his character more and more, I determined where Jessie came from and how he arrived at being Jessie as we all know him in Season 2. As much as Walt and Jessie banter back and forth with the lines, Jessie still feels Walt is the better "father figure" he relates to and looks to Walt for advice and guideness..problem lies with Walt using Jessie to his own selfish means without regard to Jessie. Walt wants Jessie to carry out the dirty work for Walt, ie. when in one episode, Walt hands Jessie the gun and wants Jessie to take care of the problem.

Okay, repugnant, after thinking of your posting, I tend to agree that Skinny Pete is MORE street smart than Jessie. Jessie is a new learner of being on the street, learning the ways of being a "street-smart junkie". More or less Jessie has come from a middle-class upbringing with a heavy load of being the "under achiever" vs. his younger brother, being the "overachiever". I sense that no matter what Jessie does, his parents will never full comprehend what Jessie is all about and has basically wiped their hands of their eldest son going in the wrong direction. I believe Jessie acts out of hurt and distancing from his parents and appears as the "black sheep" of the family.

I might also add, the "breakdown" of Jessie in the shooting gallery hugging Walt, was "leaching" out all the hurt he endured with Jane's death, his hurt from being banned from his own family members, experiencing the heinous world of druglords and distributing meth, dealing with the Spooges, and the ever constant critic Walt always correcting his behavior. Aaron Paul has successfully gained sympathy from the viewers by his incredible acting showing the path Jessie has taken, right or wrong in his methods, this poor kid, Jessie has had some real tough stresses in his lifetime.
