Walt's Musical theme for Season 3

My last thread is starting to get a little overheated, so I'm going to try again with a new one. Walter White is Starting Season 3 in an unbalanced state. He has watched his Woman leave him, took Holly and bailed. His accident prone partner Jesse is recovering and out of action. Walt is left with a pile of Money and his head spinning poolside and now a mid air Plane accident occurs right over his House. Things are not working out very well for him are they? - So I have selected 3 Songs that I think are fitting to reflect Walt's current station in life at this point in our Favorite Show. My first selection is from ACDC - "Ride on", its a quiet little number, very introspective and Bon Scott delivers it beautifully. My next selection is also from ACDC - "Highway to Hell". We now turn up the Amperage a little bit. Walt might just travel down this Highway someday. Again Bon Scott belts out a fine performance! My third and final selection is a Classic Jimi Hendrix song - "Hey Joe". This little gem gets modified though. We use Walt's name in place of Joe and also add Ted's name. Here it is - "Hey Walt where you going with that gun in your hand?" ---- "I'm going down to shoot my Ol' Lady, you know I caught her messin round with a man named Ted". Ok, there you go, that's my play list. So tell me now, whats on yours?

Saving up the birds in hand
While in the bush the others land
Take what we can before the man
Says its time to go

Each to his own way, I'll go mine
Best of luck with what you find
But for your own sake remember times
We used to know

Adios Amigos! and Vaya Con Dios

I'm going to think about this one, but I don't know if anyone will come up with a better choice than zia's chipmunk version of "Bad Day." Having the chipmunks singing over a montage of bad events in Walt's life would just be so dementedly wonderful!

Here's an old classic for Walt if he goes into full wallow mode:

Ironically he hears it on the radio in his deluxe room at the 5-star hotel where he's staying after being evicted from the house by Skyler.

zia - That Jethro Tull song reminds me of a time when me and a friend were waiting to catch a Train from Brandon to Cambridge. There we were minding our own business, when this Old Vagrant rolls up on us. He looks just like that crusty old character off the cover of that Jethro Tull album "Aqua Lung". He starts up a conversation, mainly with himself and then bends over and picks up this bright Orange broken up carrot. It fell off a large Truck (Lorry in the Kings English) and he goes on to explain that its perfectly good (edible). Then proceeds to wash it off in a puddle off water (It rains a lot in England). After a good washing, he starts to chow down on this Carrot, my friend and I just stood there and watched, what else were we going to do? After Homeboy left we just bust out laughing for at least a solid five minutes.

If you want to see some amazing shit, Go to youtube and checkout the 3 year old kid playing the drums. "Highway to Hell cover, 3 tear old drummer" It will blow your mind! Sorry This kid is a future Elvin Jones/ Job Cain of "Zachariah" fame, the first electric Western, staring a very young (Don Johnson). I dont know how to add the link here, sorry.

R.W.: What? You did'nt get an autograph, from the "Aqua Lung" gent?!? ;) LOL

As far as songs go...

"Chicken Train" by Ozark Mountain Daredevils, for an encounter with Walt & Gus...

"Two Trains" by Little Feat, for a flash-back to, when Walt realizes Elliott & Gretchen, are screwing around, behind his back...

And, as far as Walts' Theme song, for Season 3...I can't decide just yet...Maybe "Blue Sky" by The Allman Brothers??
For Season 1, it could've been "Rape Me" by Nirvana...

If Jesse gets to smoking pot again...then "Illegal Smile" by John Prine might fit...LOL

diksee - Blue sky by the Allman Brothers is Perfect. Thats obvious, now why did'nt I think of that one? I saw them in concert once, Greg was dating Sher then, that was awhile ago was'nt it.

R.W....LMAO, we're talking "ancient history"!! Just kidding! ;)

We saw Gov't Mule, a few years back, at The Daisy in Memphis. Great show! It was excellent!!

So, that made me think of the song, "Soul Shine" by Warren Haynes...it's a good one!

Also, I mentioned something about John Prine above & that made me remember the song, "Please Don't Bury Me".
That guy sure does have a great sense of humour!! But, he's got his sensitive side, too!

diksee - Gov't Mule, Warren Haynes and John Price. These I'm not familiar with, is that Blues or Country Music?

user-pic

Warren Haynes, joined the Allman Brothers, sometime in the late '80's-early '90's(?) Gov't Mule is a band he has on the side, I guess you could describe it as Bluesy Southern Rock?

Not sure how to describe John Prine...kind of Folksy, but, not too Country. He usually adds a LOT of humour, to his songs! =)
You remember the song, "Dear Abbey"?? That was popular, back in our high school years...
I'm not really into Country music, much...but, like his style...I pretty much got a feeling, you'd get a kick out of his songs!

user-pic

Here are the lyrics...catchy lil' tune...sounds better with the music! You'll be singing it, the rest of the night...ha ha! ;)

Please Don't Bury Me
©John Prine

Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh what a feeling!
When my soul
Went thru the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did ride
When I got there they did say
John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head
And all the angels say
Just before you passed away
These were the very last words
That you said:

Chorus:
Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have "em" cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get "em" out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junkman
And give my love to Rose

Repeat Chorus

Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
Give my knees to the needy
Don't pull that stuff on me
Hand me down my walking cane
It's a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ass goodbye

Repeat Chorus

Diksee - sounds like a good song, the Lyrics work fine. I'll have to see if it is on youtube. On my new avatar, it is the symbol for the 461st TFTS "Deadly Jesters". This was the first unit I was assigned to in the USAF. I not positive on the official motto, but I think is something like "We laugh in the face of adversity". So there you go. Oh btw, I'm officially on double secret probation... ;-)

user-pic

Hmmmmm...suprisingly, I did'nt get "that" memo...but, caught the drift. ;) LOL!

BTW: Thank you, for serving our Country! It's very much appreciated! =)
