The Plane Crash, Hidden Money and the Garage
Even with the distraction of some very nice summer days, a disturbing thought popped up about the ABQ episode - the money stashed in the garage walls.
Throughout the season, the ever expanding teasers showed different scenes of the plane crash over Albuquerque and Walt's house. In one of those teasers they showed HazMat people around Walt's property. Doesn't this put Walt's secret stash in the garage in jeopardy of discovery? Wouldn't the HazMat people comb throughout the property and home to make sure there are no toxic fallout/chemicals from the crash (i.e., scouring the home thoroughly to make sure it's free of hazardous chemicals/materials)?
Walt's drug money could be discovered, don't you think? What would (or could) Walt do or say to keep the people out?

Not sure Jamm, considering the scale of wreckage.Unless there are holes in Walt's roof. I don't think they would be digging around inside of the house
If Walt wants to keep his loot, he really only has one choice: Take it out of the wall, pack it in a suitcase or backpack, and run like the devil put brimstone in his pants! When he gets to the front of the house, he'll find his SUV is damaged from the crash and the falling debris. So, he'll probably have to leave on foot. I expect him to make a serious blunder here, like leaving his "other" cell phone behind to be found by Skyler. If not the cell phone, he'll make some kind of compromising no-no. And Zia, if Vince Gilligan follows reality closely, the guys in the Hazmat suits will have to clear the house and its roof to make sure that all evidence is accounted for. All damages, and all possible body parts must be recovered. Walt doesn't need another "fugue state" this time to explain his absence. He just has to tell people that his wife threw him out of the house. Thanks, Skyler!
WalkerColt You're a crack-up. Yeah, no more fugue states for Walt, even for the benefit of the HazMat people. 'Course, he could say the pink teddy bear bonked him on the head coming out of the sky if he wants to "play up" disorientation or a concussion while he wanders around in front of the HazMat people with a suitcase (full of cash)!
Walkercolt: If Walt leaves his cell phone behind and Skylar finds it, it will have all his contact numbers. Saul, Jesse, the number of Gus' contact man, probably even Skinny Pete and the rest of the crew. Now we know Skylar leaves no stone unturned, judging by the way she tracked down Jesse in season 1, and the way she uncovered Ted's embezzlement. She will call those numbers, track down who they are registered to, and possibly even discovers Walt's little excursion into free enterprise. She will then be faced with a dilemma. Has anyone noted that Ted embezzled 1.2 mil, the same amount Walt and Jesse netted? Somehow she can keep her mouth shut and go along with Ted's little game, rationalize her actions away by thinking it's all for the benefit for herself and her unborn child. Will she be to continue down that same slippery slope and rationalize away Walt's cooking? Hey, I've got kids to feed, a husband who may yet die early on me, I can live with his criminality. She may even pressure him to keep on cooking. She may look at that money as part hers, community property. Throw in Gus who most definitely will want more product, and Walt will have no choice to keep on cooking.
Is'nt that money being channeled into Walt Jr.s' website, as suggested by Saul?? =\
While it's never been shown, and just pure speculation on my part...I'm assuming that the big leap in donations, to "Save Walter White", was due to Saul taking care of Walts' stash.
Don't take my word for it though. I'm rarely right on anything, in this show! Oy! =(
diksee, he may not have handed over the whole pile to Saul. I know I wouldn't. Not that I wouldn't trust him, I'm just say'n.
Bulls-eye, gracie! What a good insight! Walt's criminal enterprise has the same monetary value as Ted's cheating (also criminal). The only thing Ted has over Walt is that Walt has only been given more time by his successful medical treatment. As far as we know, Ted's as healthy as a racehorse. So, I ask you, "Is Skyler making a play for Ted because she wants a better looking man, or a healthier man who'll be around to help her raise her children, or does she crave respectability/legitimacy?" You could identify with her better than I, so any candid answer you give would be a "right" answer.
I'll leave you with another question to ponder. Was Vince Gilligan a Who fan in his younger days and particularly the album "Tommy"? Because there's a song in there called "Amazing journey". Great tune and the chorus goes "Sickness will surely take the mind where minds can't usually go; come on the amazing journey and learn all you should know." Is that what Walt is going through in this series, an amazing journey?
WalkerColt: As it stands now, I think Skylar is going towards Ted because she craves stability. It's the nesting instinct that kicks during pregnancy. Walt has been terribly unstable, disappearing, terminal illness, acting weird, extra phones, it just goes on and on. She doesn't quite know what he's been up to and is afraid to know. Ted, she knows what he's been up to. A known quantity versus an unknown variable. Again, think stability. Now if she finds out about Walt's cooking, it will change the equation. Now she would be an accomplice after the fact if Ted ever got busted. She's an accountant, for cryin' out loud, she has to know something was fishy. With Walt, she could legitimately claim ignorance if he got busted. She's not a chemist, the only thing is she would have to wonder how did the medical bills get paid. Jr's website can take care of some of it. She will probably keep her options open as long as possible to cover her bets.
A lot of people have commented on how Walt has gotten the short end of the stick in life. I think Skylar feels the same. She's a nice looking gal, how did she end up with a chemistry teacher 10 years older? Someone said in one of the earlier episodes it was mentioned she was a waitress when they met? Is that true? So she married a chemist working for some highfalutin' company, gets her CPA, and what did she get out of all of this. He gets cheated out of his proper credit for his work, she has a disabled son, who I'm sure she loves, but it is still a disappointing thing in life. She probably had to cut her career short to care for him. They are in debt, Walt had to work a second job to make ends meet, then he gets cancer. I bet she will break bad hard in season 3.
Hey jamm54 and diksee! Long time, no pecka-pecka on the keyboard to! Hope your summer's going okay for you both!
I don't think Walt is gonna let any of those guys in the hazmat suits anywhere NEAR his garage! It's definitely NOT going to be like when he took his baby girl in there, peeled back the insulation, and said "Look what Daddy did for you!"
well didn't some time laps between the time he showed "us" and his baby girl that's where he had stashed the money?......
I mean he did get Jesse off to rehab, had surgery, recuperated from surgery, grew a goatee, paid for most of his bills right? Isn't that what Skylar said?So maybe he's moved it.
Hi zia, bigfreakinnaz,Blue Runner!! Great to see you all! My summer is going good (or getting there). Finally sold my parents house (closing July 31), and another couple weeks of executor duties and then I'm off to roadtrip city for a month or so with my golf clubs in the trunk. No itinerary, no schedule, a working car, some CDs, and away I go.......
As for Walt and the cash, boy, I don't know. I think next season is going to be Divorce - Albuquerque Style for Walt and Skyler. Plus, I can't help but think that Walt better get his black hat out, because the shit raining down on him is going to be quite heavy from a lot of directions and a variety of people (Skyler, Gus, Saul, Jesse).
Damn! Sorry, diksee - Hi to you, too!
Hi jamm54...
Most cases, there is a trial separation before a divorce, so it allows the two parties to reconcile if they can and it this case, Vince could use the separation clause to his advantage and reel Walt and Sklyer back together if need be for future references.
As for finding the stash of money in the walls, doubtful that the house will be ripped apart for any toxic hazards since most of the plane debris was spread far and wide in the air. Can't imagine any scenario that would initate any searching of that nature unless Walt was under some truth meds and he confesses about the stashed money in the walls while under the influence ...LOL
In order to search Walt's house, paperwork is involved and has to have a legal document allowing them to go inside..a warrant I would imagine of some sort. By the time , they come back with a warrant to work on the house,Skyler gone, not around to check up on Walt constantly, Walt has freedom to take out the stash of money and distribute it somewhere else.
Hi Linda555! Well Walt already "confessed" when he answered about the second cell phone - LOL. We still haven't seen all of the effects of the plane crash - heck, a chemical toilet could have fallen from the sky through the garage roof for all we know! The bear made it to the pool! LOL
btw..jamm54..glad to see you back on the forum as we haven't heard from you in some time. Always love your postings, so its good to see you back!
Where ya going on your road trip to jamm54? ABQ? Ha! Ha!
I'd be real surprised if they search his house at all. What would they possibly look for? Unless debris or bodies went through the roof to the inside. And even if that were the case, they can't tear his walls apart with out good reason.
The way things are done around here...?
surprised they picked up the bodies.... ;)
bigfreakingnaz Yes! My first stop is Bend, OR (a friend there) for some golfing. Then it's on to San Francisco to see a relative and a friend, with another friend flying in from Seattle to join me for golfing over at Lake Tahoe. I'll probably hit Reno or Las Vegas on my way to Phoenix (another friend), and then to Sante Fe and Albuquerque. From there over to San Diego/Cardiff by the Sea to another friend, and then we'll drive to Las Vegas for gambling. She'll fly back to San Diego, and I may either drive to San Francisco or Sedona, AZ where my friend is moving by October 1st and stay there for a while. The Breeders Cup is going to be at Santa Anita this year in early November, so I'll be going to that. My road trip estimate could be as short as a month or as long as a couple of months. I have no set timeline/itinerary that I have to follow - it's whatever I feel like doing.
Linda555 My future posts will probably be pretty sporadic. Technically, I haven't been hooked up to my Comcast address since July 31 (or any computer for that matter). Just got on-line again on August 14, and had to provide Executor papers and refer to the estate lawyer in order to keep my email address on Comcast. How do you like those apples?? Jeez, didn't know keeping your email address could end up being a legal thing (depending on what billing name is on the account - even though I've been paying it with my own checks for 2 years). So.......
Supposedly, when I'm on the road I'll be able to access my Comcast account, though I won't be taking my laptop with me. It'll be interesting to see if I'll be able to do that.
Thanks, Linda555 for the nice welcome back! I had sold my house, so I was in flux throughout July, especially the last week. Seattle had unseasonably hot weather (100+ degrees), so that was kind of an ordeal. I'm hoping to be done and gone travelling end of Aug/early Sept, but I'll try to stay in touch on the board with y'all. It's been a great group to talk with this season!

Sorry, didn't mean to stutter out that last response twice!
