Song Parody's
Are we not doing them anymore? I can't accept that. Well I spose I can, but who wants too? Its all in fun. Its summer. A fabulous thing out here in the wiscoland. The home of Summerfest, the biggest music festival in the entire whole world! I'm throwing down the gauntlet to all of you to come up with your best parody's to your favorite tune's relating to BB. There's lots of good music to parodied out there. Lets see, Mitch Miller would be fun. Flipper,Uk subs, Todd Rundgren, X, Legendary Pink Dots, oops forget them, I forgot they basically have no lyrics. But you all know where I'm coming from. Freebird perhaps?

tweeders1 - WTF, an Ode to Michael Jackson, are you serious? You poor, poor, sick individual. I know times are tough right now, but please get down to the corner store and get your meds, please."
To quote a respected voice on this site, WTF now song parody's. . . . GTFO!
Well, gee, since you're twisting my arm...
I don't know how many people saw this, but it's a parody I wrote after seeing a topic here called, "Where are you Jessie Pinkerman." That (wrong) name stuck in my head and I ended up writing some parody lyrics to the old Simon & Garfunkel song, "Mrs. Robinson" I posted it originally in that "Jessie Pinkerman" thread. It's about Jesse getting stuck in rehab, where the indignities start with the staff getting his name wrong and continue on from there. It helps to be familiar with the original song, since I kept a few of the lyrics the same. (I mean...you can't improve on "Coo coo ca-choo")!
Anyway. This new topic gives me a chance to fix a new typos and get it out there again:
"Jessie Pinkerman" (Sung to the tune of "Mrs. Robinson").
And here's to you, Jessie Pinkerman.
Your addiction is an awful shame...it's no game.
God bless you please, Jessie Pinkerman.
Sorry we keep messing up your name..we're to blame; we're to blame.
We all have chores here, teaching us to better face the world.
It's a really cozy little nook.
What's your talent? what's your skill? We'll find a slot for you.
Would you like to try to be our cook?
Coo, coo, ca-choo, Jessie Pinkerman.
Jesus loves you more than you will know; woe, woe, woe.
God bless you please, Jessie Pinkerman.
Heaven holds a place for those who pray; hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Sitting in group therapy on Sunday afternoon;
having private sessions with your counselor.
Cry about it, talk about it,
Just don't talk too loud.
Revelations just might draw a crowd.
Where have you gone, girl of Jessie's dreams;
Jessie turns his lonely eyes to you (Boo hoo hoo).
What's that you say, Jessie Pinkerman -
Junkie Jane has left and gone away.
(Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey).
I'm kinda partial to System of a Down, myself... =)
BTW, great job, Rockmama!
Yes Rockmamma! A girl after my own heart. I too love Simon and Garfunkel. Spirtuality is cool.
Diksee I'll have to check out System of a Down.
Hank jr. I hope GTFO means get the fun out?
We all have months and miles to go on this site. New people to come in and see what's going on. We are all articulate and intelligent beings, and I like to think that the people here are just a wee bit more intelligent. Well, I know we all are. We can read, hear and see between life's line's. I like that about us the fans of BB. We all see different things in the show. That is fabulous. My one hope is that this site doesn't become too personal attacky. I hope that people still feel free to write their opinions in the true tradition of writing. Not text accronyms.
If you have a problem with someone's opinion, write it out proper and put a story behind it. DOT.DOT.DOT. What is that? Lazyness.
That's what I truly love about this site. People write.
That's what I love about this show. Its not a ... world that's being presented to all of us. It's very arty and thoughtful. Just like most of us.

Do you mean "song parodies"? What's the apostrophe for?
Tweeders1, I didn't really have any serious "spiritual" message in my "Jessie Pinkerman" song parody. (Not that there'd be anything wrong with that). I just kinda left in those lines from the original, along with "coo coo ca-choo."
Rockmamma, "Coo coo ca-choo" is spriitual, no matter how many ways you try to sneeze it. Just writing is spiritual, don't ya think?
Also chapsr, one has to know one's limitations on the spelling proper thingy's. Gee I'm very glad that you're a proper speller of apostrophe. When one can end things in a y as opposed to an ies on occasion, it works with the way your trying to sound while your writing. Don'tcha think?
Coo coo ca-choo: "Say it loud and there's music playing. Say it soft and it's almost like praying."
Rockmama, a theater fan too you are. I love West side story too. I was trying to speak Yodaeese. Yes I'm a fan of Star Wars too.
I wasn't sure anybody would "get" that reference, but a connection between "coo coo ca-choo" being spiritual and those particular lyrics made a kind of warped sense that delighted me, so I couldn't resist posting it! :-)
Rockmamma,
Little ole me, I have that on casset tape SOMEWHERE. My sister and brother are cleaning out my aunts storage space from her apartment building. There are so many original albums down there from so many cast albums and original albums. Oklahoma, Sound of Music, West Side Story, Mitch Miller, Guy Lombardo, Patsy Cline, BB King, Miles Davis, South Pacific, and dare I say it Redd Fox, the most potty mouthed comedian of all time. This is the stuff that I grew up on. That was one of my dad's albums.
This is what I love about this show. Vince Gilligan is brilliant and brought so many brilliant people along with him into this project of a show. I just bought the season one of BB. 40 bux mind you at Borders for my sister. I also bought the 15th book in the Stephanie Plum Mystery series by Janet Evonovich called Finger Lickin Fifteen. You should read her stuff. Most definatly not Stephen King. That's not to disparage St. Stephen's books, But hot dang she is a fun read. When you start with One For The Money in paperback at your nearest used bookstore or library, you will find yourself laughing uncontrolllably on the bus. People will look at you and think you're crazy, they'll then see that you're reading a book and check out the cover and ask you about the book. Books and Busses are a wonderful mix. Anyway, check her out.
Pretty sure Vince or one of his writer's has. She has a particular sense of twisted dark humor that I've seen in this show.

Ah, but the true test of musical hipness: Did you recognize both The Platters AND Chocolate Genius when their songs showed up on "Breaking Bad?!?!"
Platters, maybe, I don't know who Chocolate Genius is. What episode's? I just got done watching on my new blu ray disc 1 with the cast comment. Watch out if you're buying a sony blue ray player. If you have a 1080p tv you have to buy an hdmi cable, not included with the player that you play major bux for.
Tweeds, in this season's finale, behind the montage of Walt's surgery, played a song called "Life" by Chocolate Genius, Inc. , otherwise known as Marc Anthony Thompson. I became a fan of his after seeing him on Springsteen's Seeger Sessions tour. I thought his duet with Springsteen on "Eyes on the Prize" was the highlight of the concert.
Rockmamma, very cute this Marc Anthony Thompson. A typical musician though. Always comparin the last blow job to the next. I'm refferin to his Bad Whiskey tune. Gee, listening to his next tune on Utube, he's singing about another blow job that put him to proper sleep. Haven't seen his duo with Springsteen yet, but I can understand why folks like his music. He sings and composes about fellatio really good.

Well, now you HAVE to check out "Eyes on the Prize" for his more uplifting side! Er...a different kind of "uplifting."
Rockmamma, FUNNY!!!
I'll do that.
I so love this site. Dear Rockmamma, check out RW's Chicken Dinner thread. WalkerColt has started something new. I want you to keep posting here, but check it out.

I checked out that topic on your suggestion last night, Tweeds. Don't know how I'd missed it earlier. I guess when I stop by this board lately, the first thing I see is that still shot of Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston from their video discussing the Emmy noms. Such an endearing pic of both of them, it which makes me go all fan-girly,and I wander away without tryng to tackle anything too heavy. But it's a very interesting topic and it's got the wheels turning in my addled brain, the result of which should manifest itself soon.
