Why does Walt have to keep cooking?
Pride in his Product?
To prove he is smarter than Hank?
Because Gus is his new boss?
Skylar is going to take him to the cleaners?
I no longer see a reason for him to continue. other than he digs being a "Bad" guy now.

Zia...a possible scenario to keep Walt cooking is Walt's daughter, Holly becoming sick and needing surgery or extended care in the hospital. A disease that eats up medical insurance rapidly and depleting the insurance coverage...such as leukemia, cancer of any magitude or any disease that tries to take the life of a young baby or child. With this in mind, money is the key to keeping Holly alive with all the hospitalization care that a teacher's salary will not be sufficient.
Another scenario is Walt Jr. or Skyler involved in a car accident with extensive damage where they might be on life support for months. Another insurance draining cause for Walt to continue the need of making BlueSky meth. Vince is avoiding the predictablity of his characters in BB and can't allow Walt to become the cheesy soap-opera monster Heisenberg unless he has a powerful reason to keep cooking. Making meth for money for money's sake is just predictable and boring, so something out of the ordinary has to confront Walt again to gain the sympathy from the viewers.
Walt pays hospital bill with $300,000 cash. Crooked hospital administrator and accountant (their attorney is Saul), embezzles the money. Hospital investigates and requests that Walt prove that he has in fact paid the bill. Hospital contacts the authorities who undertake investigation of the embezzlement and during this become suspicious of Walt's ability to pay this amount in cash, based on his limited teacher’s income. Investigator approaches Walt, “where did you get the money for the surgery?”. Walt refuses to talk, and investigator threatens to turn him in to authorities OR he blackmails Walt and demands hush money. Hank might even be contacted, being a DEA agent, as large amounts of money can be attained by drug monies. This brings Hank in to connect the dots as to Walt. Walt might have to go into hiding from the authorities.
In the mean time, Skyler takes on extra free-lance work at hospital, (same hospital Walt had surgery), replacing fired hospital accountant. Skyler performs audit for hospital and learns of Walt’s cash payment for his surgery.
Just some scenarios that came to mind why Walt would continue the cooking. Everyone surrounding him demands more and more out of Walt and pressures him into the "Heisenberg mode".
This series certainly has many of us pondering Vince's next Season#3...whew.....I have a feeling we as the audience, will have some real surprises in store for us that will blow all our theories. I hope so...go for it Vince!!!
Guess I got a little carried away, Zia.. LOL.. This series is so blasted addictive to the mind and has me spinning at times.
I like it Linda . ;)
I get a bit carried away myself. I've been meaning to hop on the train down to Abq. and have yet to do it. But I know I will sometime soon, at least down to Isleta to go soak in the spa. I do prefer natural mineral water hot springs but think I can make due... after all Jesse is still there ;)
I think I really Broke Bad when I went thru the footage of the bear drop to figure out where Walt's house was and was glad I wasn't the only one who did....naw I was already hooked
I think Walt is addicted to the allure of the "Easy Money". Lets face it there are some hoops to jump through, but Walt is a smart guy and provided he can keep Jesse inline, he has a solid business partner Gus. Walter White is the Master Cook of Abq, he does not have his own daytime show, but hey he does produce the purist form of Crystal in the southwest.
Zia, if you hook up with Jesse, you might consider staying for a Yoga session with Jess and Harmony. I hear they serve up a mean Vegan meal there too, with a Indian buffet on Sundays.
One other angle we need to look into. With the "Obama effect" about to hit the country soon. Walt and Friends will have a new market opening up to them. With Inflation and Taxes about to go through the roof, Company's will be laying off more and more People. The remaining employed People will be expected to work longer Hours and produce more. This will drive up the demand for stimulants, like perhaps Blue Crystal. I see at least a 30% rise in Meth use due to the "Obama effect". Along with all this, certain Government agencies will have to tighten their belts (DEA). This will hamper The Hankster, but be a real shot in the arm to Walt and company making things a little easier to expand production and distribution. Who says Capitalism is dead? Now can you say "Yes we can"!
of course RW...how could I forget the working mans friend
We could also call it "Mother little helper". One of those Company's that might be effected could be Beneke. I'm not saying Skylar would urn into a raving Tweaker, but there are other Females working there, like that pesky receptionist that tried to bar Skylar from seeing ted.
That was "Mothers little helper". :-)
I think even if Walt wanted to quit now, he couldn't. Aside from his own personal desire to be powerful, Gus will certainly demand more product from him. And several other people know who he is and what he does, namely Saul, who will still want his cut of the money. But I think ultimately it's Walt's own desires that will keep him being Heisenberg. It may be out of hatred for the people who have held him down before, it may be out of spite against Hank for thinking he knows it all, and of course he still wants the money for his family. I'm wondering if Walt will dip into the cash a little himself and splurge on something?
James, whats up my Man? You really think Walt has a hard on for Hank? I think he might resent hank a little, but Hank has never really crossed Walt outside of the Pool incident.
I am assured Walt will not "dip" into the cash for frivilous luxury items because that would draw attention to himself ...something he doesn't need to do. Walt has made some foolish choices in the past, but now more than ever, he has to be cautious with his actions from now on...too much is at stake.
As for Hank, R.W., I believe Walt wished to be more assertive and "be a stand-up guy" that Hank seems to imply by his very presence. After being "hen-picked" by Skyler continually shown in Season 1, Walt needed to break out of his meek shell of a man and become more like Hank. Turning into the Heisenberg character, Walt did indeed, bring out more of direct and "don't screw with me attitude". Skyler was shocked with Walt's new behavior and even Hank congratulated him on his newly found macho-man mode.
And where is the broken down RV? Back at the lot where Jessie had it stored before? Who is going to pay rent for the storage of the RV when Jessie is still in rehab?? If you remember, the owner of the lot wanted cash in advance for the storage of RV from Jessie and to be prompt in paying the rent on time. Will the owner of the lot find the meth equipment inside and turn the RV over to the authorities, whereby the RV can be traced back to Jessie???
Zia, holding out until Season #3, many of us will need that Spa to chill out and rid our stress of waiting, waiting and waiting for the new episodes. But what will be our "mantra or chant?
"..."Breaking Bad, Breaking Bad, Breaking Bad........"
Walt stated cooking for the $, now he cooks for the power he feels from doing it. He was a henpecked husband and now he is a badass that make the best meth on the market!
Whoa Linda, such a source of all knowing knowledge. Broken down RV, please explain, I dont recall the RV being broken down. Jesse let the Battery run down, but dont recall the RV being broken down left abandoned anywhere. You seem to assume that Jesse has not paid, how do you know he has'nt already paid in advance? Can you say for sure that the RV is not back in the lot? Listen I was just suggesting that desperate people do desperate things and having fun with the Clovis angle. Linda I was just having some fun with this thing, chill the fuck out and dont take things written here so seriously, getta grip already...
the guy at the lot already knows what the RV is for. He shook Jesse down in one of the episodes already.
He is Badger's cousin or something.
The Clovis angle...too funny RW. Clovis is a little hick town out in Eastern NM... Texas really.
My Aunt and Uncle and cousins were out there.. Aunt and Uncle passed on,but lived there for ever.
Had a AF buddy who was stationed out there. Canon I think was the name of the AFB.. they had 111's there for awhile
Hey Zia, Yeah Linda was reffering to a possible scenario she read off the "Win a Breaking Bad Hoodie". I left a possible scenario involving Clovis there. Linda tends to ride my ass worse than Skylar riding Walt. She has no sense of humor me thinks. She needs a trip to that new age hippie spa, the stress is getting to her.
But back to Walt's incentive to produce meth.
I can see where he was between a rock and a hard spot, though with Gretchen and Elliots offer it really wasn't that hard, but that came after he was in it up to his elbows already.
Now Gus and Saul can be wanting more money, but they both have already made out pretty good as is. Gus, no doubt doubled his money and made over a million bucks easy. Chickens sales are up too, so he has legit security.
Saul he's a lawyer, no doubt there is a ambulance he can chase and make out too.
Now with Gus's knowledge of who Hank is, may be a squeeze play he may use against Walt, but it would seem to be self incriminating. Gus wouldn't be the blackmailing type as he has too much to lose.
Holly having medical problems, ok good angle, but I bet Ted gave Skylar benefits.
Walt's a bright guy. He no doubt has calculated his odds and probability of getting away with all this and knows that the odds are bound to catch up with him. Unless he figures he has already paid the price. Though I would say Jesse has been the one who has paid for it more.
Kind of leaves me with somehow the Mexican Cartel is going to have to come back into the picture. Who's going to protect Walt's family and what price is going to have to be paid to do so.
What? Saul's going to call 1-800- Mercenary or Jesse's going to get hold of Pinkerton. Get some black helicopters somewhere ;)
If the cooking is to keep on going, Heisenburg has to totally assimulate Walt... resistance is futile.
Hank's going to figure it out and Hesienburg wil have to bust a cap on him... my 2 cents ;)
Yeah, I tend to want to think Hank will sort Heisenberg out. The problem is, its too obvious, I mean Hank would be the most logical person to figure this thing out. The writers of this story know this and if they want to end the series, that would be the logical way to end it. These writers are thinking way out of the box here, so just about anything is possible. That's why I have thrown out some bizzaro scenario's: The Marie angle, The Clovis angle. Who knows, I sure that Clayton and the rest of these BB people are have a good laugh at some of our comments for sure.
I also put out the Gomie angle. This character is screaming for a little more love. He is portrayed as the less than aggressive sidekick for Hank, as ways in Hanks shadow. I think Agent Gomez has real potential for a "Break through" in regards to the Heisenberg case. What do you think?
I understand the Clovis angle now..I had forgot his name..
but dang RW you got more angles working than a rhombohedron ;)
Yeah, I do throw a lot out there, but there are some many holes that could be poked in these ideas, but hey its fun to let your mind wander. You know what they say about an Idle mind. "its the devils playground" or something like that. rhombohedron, now that's a new one.
Just to keep thing interesting

I want a zia tour! :)
I think Walt resents Hank for many reasons. One being that his son Walt Jr. looks up to Hank like a hero. The other could be because Walt has a problem with authority figures, and Hank would certinaly be that as a DEA agent. Walt may have felt picked on his whole life, and it could have been by people similar to Hank. Also, Walt just might not like Hank's boisterous, arrogant attitude that he has most of the time. I think it excites Walt to know that he's doing all this illegal stuff right under Hank's nose.
I can go along with that James.
It's too bad that not many place teachers up on the hero's list.
Also I think that Walt does get a kick out knowing he's getting away with this right under Hank's professional nose.
I expect to see Hank say something to Walt after a few beers that will give Walt some helpful info to avoid the DEA or perhaps Gus, Hank and Walt get together and Hank starts bragging , not realizing the walls have ears and they get the DEA to chasing it's own tail.
There is certainly some reason beside Gus finding out Hank is Walt's brother in law other than just knowing it.
It was nice though to see Walt Jr. say that his dad was his hero when he was on the news. He obviously loves Walt a lot more than Hank, but Walt's resentment is still there because Walt Jr. may not view him as "cool" like he does with Hank.
I would love a scene with Walt, Hank, and Gus together drinking or something. It would be interesting to see the looks on Walt and Gus' face. Maybe they would both be giving each other knowing looks, knowing that Hank is so oblivious to what they're doing. I could see Hank wanting to be buddies with the guy who owns his favorite chicken shack, lol.
I saw Brayn on TV the other day and thought it was cool of him to be a spokesperson for curPC

R.W. ....My general question was......where was the RV and thought during that episode with the dead battery, the RV would have to be worked on to repair the battery. I hadn't even read your posting on this RV thing and don't remember reading the Clovis angle. The RV angle was only a theory thrown out for others to contemplate, thats all. Simple...just another angle, period.
I had forgotten the connection of Badger and his cousin, thank you Zia for reminding me....I couldn't remember his name either. I missed some areas of that particular episode and evidently missed some pretty important parts of it. Error on my part.
So now that the air has been cleared of all assumptions, what is the Clovis angle????..enlighten me on this...you have me interested, R.W.!
Thanks Zia for the link to Legends of America...will read up on this and looks pretty interesting. I have several good friends living in Santa Fe and tell me so many unique stories of this area.
You've all brought up some really interesting insights & angles! They've made for some great reading! =)
My guess is: That Walt is continuing to produce his Blue Sky, mainly due to pride.
Not only pride in the purity, of HIS product, and the recognition it's getting...But also, in the fact that HE'S finally bringing in some seriously big bucks! Whoo hoo!
However, that pride might become his downfall, because, he might feel, for ONCE in his life, HE'S accomplishing something major again...but, THIS time NO ONE can steal it away! The problem is...as "just Walt", he still can't "claim" it & get the all the Glory...because, it's really Heisenberg, that is getting the credit.
And...*sigh*...the cycle begins yet again!! =( He might not be able to stand it. Someone ELSE, (even if it is HIS alter ego) is one-upping him & stealing HIS thunder!
LMAO...on a lighter note...today must be my day for "Emphasis CAPS!" ha ha ha! =\
Also, call it a severe case of OCD kicking in, on my part...but, for some reason, these questions posed, reminded me of the joke:
"Why did the chicken cross the road?"
"To prove to the 'possum, it could be done!"
Ahhh...after that being said...I feel MUCH better! Sorry, Zia for you, having to put up with my randomness, in your thread! LOL LOL LOL
Diksee.... it's not my thread
It's OUR thread ;)
and gosh Linda, you know people in Santa Fe
I'm living here and I know no one here outside of family
I don't think the RV would need to be repaired as they just ran down the battery while it was parked, it should of charged back up by the time they got back to town.
Didn't the professor build a robot out of coconut shells to take care of Gilligan's RV ... oh wait wrong show
I'm guessing they have a back up battery now and their own generator.. they certain can afford it
Zia, Back up Battery, very good idea. I'd through in a solar panel to charge that back up Battery. That way Walt could get an energy rebate from the Government too.
Diksee...yes, my friends in Santa Fe keep encouraging me to move to this area since it has such beautiful scenery, plenty of talented artistic people to talk to, and you have the large International festival I hear so much about, but, I dislike snow and ice, so that keeps me from moving there. Anyway, I have heard Santa Fe is a great place to live.
As for the RV battery, again, I missed parts of that episode, so I wasn't sure it was ONlY the battery run down that caused the problem getting out of the desert. Keeping a backup battery would be a good idea and I would imagine anyone owning an RV has that taken care of by keep an extra one around.
I saw Bryan's commercial for CurePC on AMC. I think it's great that he and the network are doing things to help raise awareness and find cures for cancer. That along with the donations on savewalterwhite.com are awesome!
There's a little "Welcome BB Fans" on
http://www.nationalcancercoalition.org/
I think that the episode "Over" shows that Walt isn't able to stop cooking , not because he needs the money , but because he's drawn to the rush of the criminal lifestyle. This is what Bryan and Gilligan say about the espisode "Over" ...
Bryan: “ It feels powerful to be able to man-up and stand on your own two feet and make demands.”
Vince : “The realization is that he is so far down the path that he can’t not be Heisenberg, he can’t not be a criminal”
I totally agree with that:
"He can't NOT be Heisenberg now". He's been through so much, something's changed over in him.
It's in his blood. =)~
Oops, sorry diksee, my talk of santa fe should have been directed to Zia. excuse me for the error.

oops oops.. triple posting....blasted computer...sorry!
Zia...you're quite the Gentleman, as usual! Thanks!
Also, thanks for posting those links...good stuff, Maynard! LOL!
Linda...Is there an echo, in here?!? Ha ha ha! Just kidding!
Don't worry about it...it happens to the best of us! =)
Last night (Sunday) at 10:00, I watched an hour-long basic cable drama set in Albuquerque in which they were trying to find a big-time meth dealer. "Breaking Bad", you ask? Nope! It was "In Plain Sight" on the USA network. The show is about U.S. Marshals in ABQ, and one of the storylines right now is that they're trying to find a meth kingpin. Hmmmmm, I wonder if the name Heisenberg will show up at all???
Wow..would have loved seeing that show James26...do you suppose the meth kingpin was copying Heisenberg in Breaking Bad, or Breaking Bad was dramatizing the real life story of a drug king pin?
LOL. LOL .thanks diksee...your humor is much appreciated.... :)))))
They are going to have to create a reason for him to continue cooking. Because right now, it doesn't seem like there would be any reason to continue down that road.
LInda-I'm not sure, but it seems kind of weird that another show set in ABQ would have a meth storyline, lol. :)
another show set in ABQ would have a meth storyline,
Hey... it's not just for breakfast anymore
LOL zia! "Meth Krispies" or "Meth Chex", anyone?
Silent Stated ..
“They are going to have to create a reason for him to continue cooking. Because right now, it doesn't seem like there would be any reason to continue down that road. “
My 2 cents .....
I’m think’n that they’ve already established several reasons for Walt to continue down that road:
1) In episode 737 Walt indicated that he needed to leave his family $737,000
2) He may have had surgery but there is no indication that that is the end of his treatments
3) In the episode “Over” the writers have shown that Walt is addicted to the lifestyle and as Vince has said .. “he can’t not be Heisenberg “ .. any longer
4) GREED for MONEY ! As a teacher he makes $50,000 ish in a year, while one drug deal results in 1.2 million ! That reason alone would be enough for most people to continue.

Nimrod has a good point when saying,..."Walt is addicted to the lifestyle....." and I also agree with this statement.
