Season 3 Predictions

Where does it go from here?

So now that Skyler knows SOMETHING is up, the question I find most interesting right now is whether Walt tries yet another lie. If he tells the truth, as he promised, he doesn't know how Skyler will react (it won't be good, obviously, but would she be angry enough to tell Marie, who then is biologically incapable of not telling Hank)?

Telling the truth, for Walt, also means losing his ego sanctuary. As long as his family doesn't know about Heisenberg he can live the lie with them (he's not a murderer and meth manufacturer, no--he's a family man under some extenuating circumstances). His dual identity will crumble, and once that crumbles he must either do a moral about-face or give himself over and become Heisenberg full-time.

In Walt's favour is the fact that he now has two days to come up with a very plausible lie. I really can't see him telling the truth until there's literally no other way.

So what are his options? Earlier I thought maybe an affair might be forgiveable, but I think that's pretty unlikely (he would first try to avoid hurting Skyler). The only other option I can see is him inventing a second job that requires him to have a second cell phone. Why didn't he tell them about it? Because he was taking a gamble and risked some of their money, maybe, or because he didn't want them to worry about him and whether his health was good enough to work two jobs. How could he make so much money? Well, someone else on another board suggested that Gus might bail him out and say that Walt was a partner in a Los Pollos franchise. That might plausibly have created enough money to pay for the treatments.

That sounds about right to me, as it gives the writers the ability to have Gus confront Walt about having a brother-in-law in the DEA.

Any other ideas?

oops--sorry. see the other post. newbie.

I think Walt and Jesse may move into a place together. Jesse has surely lost his apartment, Walt has been kicked out of his house, and has also taken on a fatherly role toward Jesse (see my post "Walt the Pink Man"). If Walt's connection with Jesse is discovered by Skyler, then Hank will inevitably find out. He has all the evidence to implicate Walt as Heisenberg, so I think any new lies that Walt tells will fall apart pretty quickly, at least in Hank's mind. I think we will see how Hank reacts to discovering Heisenberg's true identity. Will he arrest Walt? Will he cover for him at work and in the family? He has access to a lot more damning information than anybody else, so he will surely be the first one to know if Walt doesn't tell Skyler.

It will be interesting to see how Gus reacts to Walt having a brother-in-law in the DEA. Will he quit doing business with Walt? Will he sympathize with him knowing that he has cancer? Gus seems to like to get close to the DEA himself, perhaps he will see Walt's family connection in a positive light. After all, what could be more advantageous to a meth kingpin than having an inside connection to a major DEA meth task force? Perhaps Hank will become an inside man. Think of all the tense situations that could lead to. He seems pretty dedicated to his job, but every man has his price, and I think Hank does value Walt as a friend.

user-pic

Walt might come up with the story of being a bookie. It would explain the second cell phone, the long absences (to Vegas), the cash only payments. It is a cash-only, more-forgivable crime that might be spun to get Skyler's forgiveness. The fly in the ointment then would be Sol. Sol has been too nice and giving and will want Walt to continue earning.... which would lead Walt to inevitably draw Jesse back into the game and undo the good that rehab provides.

user-pic

The series so far has been running and running but now there comes a bottleneck. Its the fork in the road for Walt, which way will he turn, going left or going right. I am curious as to how Vince will turn the 3rd Season and keep the suspense going in the series. All the characterization chess pieces have been played out on the board, showing us who is who, what their part is in the series and now the fun begins...who is going to make the first move out of character and build the suspense to a greater high and make new twists and turns in the series. Vince will do it....out of the blue, out of character, he will surprise us all again.

Gus....Gus is a smart man that stays behind the scenes as a mild mannered restaurant chain owner, doesn't like a lot of fuss or public acclaim for the things he does, but keeps mum pretty much. I don't believe he will rock the boat too much because it draws attention to him and his business savvy in the past has been that he is very discret. He might push Walt in producing more meth and with Jessie in Coma City over Jane's death, Jessie might not be in the frame of mind to go make lbs of meth again with Walt. That might be a real problem as Gus will want to expand his meth business with greater amounts of meth.

Flynn...the character that seems to have fallen in the cracks and left behind...might find out about "wonderful" dad's secretive sideline business when he finds out with his donations coming in and wanting to pay the surgery bill that Dad has already paid. That will trump suspicion with Flynn and will ask Dad point blank..."where did you get the money for the surgery, Dad?" Another thought just came to mind. Flynn who listens to Hank, might discuss the dontation issue and surgery bill with Hank ...now Hank is suspicious of how Walt paid for his surgery. This might crank up Hank to looking into more about Walt's whereabouts and connect the dots. Now Flynn and Hank are asking Walt the key question...just how did you raise that money for the surgery without the internet donations. I think Vince will slowly turn the wheel, little by little and start placing Walt in more dire straits by having to explain how money was obtained. I also see Marie involved in this also, with Hank and Marie discussing about Walt.

I think the 3rd Season is about "accountability" of Walt. He has a lot of explaining to do to cover himself and keep Heisenberg hidden. I don't think he will bring on the "macho-man Heisenberg" to the extent many would like to see Walt go the darker side of his nature in the beginning of Season 3 because he has to regroup, think things out carefully before making any moves. Too much has gone down, and his next moves have to be carefully plotted out in his mind. The problem is, circumstances will confront him to reveal more and more about what he has done in the past OR somehow still manage to keep his cover hidden.
And of course there is Skyler with many unanswered questions as to that 'second cell phone" dilemma. Again, Hank and Marie will be discussing with Skyler as to Walt's strange behavior( the behavior that beyond the stress of having cancer) and get involved figuring out what Walt is up to. Then Flynn approaches Hank too...so Hank might be the one to unravel Walt's hidden agenda slowly but surely.

user-pic

My other pausible prediction is that Hank will also overstep his boundaries and get in some trouble himself with Marie. Possibly while being the DEA and undercover, will have a juicy little affair with snitches or a hooker while on the trail of finding Heisenberg. Marie finding out, will revert back to shoplifting and putting herself in dire straits.

default userpic

unless a big chunk of one of those planes falls on Skyler...kinda like the house in the wizard of oz fell on the wicked witch of the east...( I really don't feel like Skyler is a witch...she has some valid points)...but if that doesn't happen than...better call Saul...go to the well one more time and see if he can come up with an excuse for the money...as for Walt and Heisenberg...I'd prefer that any connection stay secret for as long as possible...I mean what good is it being Clark Kent...If everyone knows you're superman...that would ruin everything...

user-pic

I read an interview somewhere with Vince Gilligan that he would be 'pretty disappointed' with Gus if he wasn't already aware that Walter's brother-in-law was a DEA agent. I don't think that was news. The cancer, maybe. I'll bet Gus is loving the money he's making of the Sky Blue and only wants more.

I wonder what Skyler will tell Marie and Hank. You know Marie can't keep her mouth shut, so anything Skyler tells her may as well be on the 6 o'clock news. Vince said in that interview that "Ted and his relationship with Skyler interests me, and I want to see more of it myself. Not to spoil anything, but I've got a feeling we'll see more of Ted in Season 3." Let's hope Skyler gets to eat some crow by sticking with Ted and his crimes and renouncing Walt without even wanting to know what his crimes were.Or if there were any crimes. I can understand her being pissed, but to not even want to hear an explanation? Even if you expected more lies? My curiosity would compel me to at least listen.

I hope we see more of the Cleaner and poor Donald. My greatest fear is that Jesse will try to go clean and Walter will get him using again. (Any Sopranos fans...remember Silvio always doing Pacino's line "Just when I get out, they pull me back in." LOL) Not that Walt uses, but he will keep Jesse around meth and for an addict that's nothing but trouble. As soon as they encounter the next set of problems, Jesse will want to crawl into the pipe again.

Is it time for season 3 yet????

user-pic

I'm gonna go along with a thought that sombody else had that Walt will make up that he won all that money gambling and playing the ponies, and he can also say that during the "Four Days Out" he was in Vegas doing the blackjack tables. It'll be foolproof. He can go on and say that he figured out some kind of mathematical "formula" for winning, and hasn't lost yet! He can also say the second phone would be for his bookie or the racetrack.

What I wonder is that if he was such an extremely intelligent man, why didn't he have something figured out for an excuse for his whereabouts and the money a long time ago? He HAD to have known that sooner or later Skyler was going to confront him with questions about these things. What he should have done when Skyler was packing up her stuff before she left was said "Come with me.", and then took her out to the garage and showed her all that cash insulating his walls. Then tell her the gambling lie I mentioned above. I guarantee she would've changed her tune REAL quick!

user-pic

Remember how Hank said, in the episode where Walt was missing, that everybody has a secret? What might Hank's secret be? Could it be that he cheated on Marie just a few hours before their wedding like was mentioned in the webisode or is it something more? For that matter, what is Flynn's secret?

Does everyone have multiple secrets or just a great big one?

I'm not so sure, at this point, that Walt has to come up with a terrific new lie. Skyler said she was afraid to find out the truth and maybe that will let him off the hook. Maybe she'll figure out for herself that whatever it is, it was for a "good" reason. She's already decided to help Ted...perhaps she will decide that her marriage is worth saving and whatever Walt has done can be forgiven.

I'm hopeful for more information about Gus. If he has a family, can he give Walt pointers for how to deal with questions that might come up in daily life?

I like the idea of telling Skyler the money is from gambling, but knowing her, she might just stage another intervention and make him join GA!

default userpic

Walt has enough money to buy his way out of this with the help of Saul they can create a believable story that can be verified. Problem solved

user-pic

Question: Do you believe that Donald will go after Jessie in a fit of rage over his daughter dying? Jessie was there when Don showed up at the apartment and might believe Jessie gave Jane an overdose. He might blame Jessie for his daughter's death because he wants someone to take the blame, a ploy to cover his own guilt of not being able to make Jane come clean on the drugs. What do you all say about this? Do you believe Donald will do something to Jessie????????

user-pic

No, Donald's not going to do anything because he will either be in some sort of custody for causing the mid-air disaster over ABQ, or he will be dead from taking his own life after he caused it. Either way you will never see Donald after S.3 - EP1.

user-pic

Walt will tell THE TRUTH. Skyler will have no part in believing an uncle gave him the money, or he won it in Vegas. (Even though I think that is a great idea!!) It looked as if Walt WANTS to come clean...this is ripping him apart internally. Skyler will leave him either way. I predict a few more 'emergencies' will come about...forcing Walt and Jessie to cook one more time.

I think (or hope) Jessie should have some good things happen this season...and display maturity...and how he really is a good person. Being tempted to use heroin...will become an ongoing issue. I personally...hope he gets clean...and tries to make amends with his parents. The whole situation with Jane's death made Walt a father figure to him...and I see that developing. Walt is going to try to be a good influence on Jessie...and both may even Break Good.

However...I predict as the decide to get out...a sub-dealer in Arizona will get busted...and TALKS...and the trail will lead Hank to Walt...and Gus. I believe in the end...Hank will let Walt walk. He loves Walt...feels for him...and will give him a HUGE break. However...Jessie and Walt will try to become silent partners...like Saul...and Gus...they move up the chain. The story will start to focus on a protege breaking bad. Season 3 will begin to focus on a very interesting NEW CHARACTER...a young protege...in over his head...about to have his home foreclosed on. Walt and Jessie stumble upon the protege in a typically freaky...strange twist of fate...as per usual. Season 3 will also focus on Skyler and Todd...and a divorce from Walt is imminent...as even in Walt tells the truth...Skyler is going to flip out.

Or...perhaps a totally unpredictable monkey wrench is thrown in there...Walt and Jessie go out to cook near the Archulete Mesa. They stumble upon a top secret underground base in Dulce, New Mexico...and get abducted by aliens...and end up as prisoners 7 stories beneath the ground...and depend on Saul and Gus...to get them out. Ha!!

user-pic

Drakeflix...
You are so funny with the alien approach! I get it...Walt will blame the aliens as being the "Heisenberg connection" and they flew away in their space ship after making their mint here on earth! Thus...Walt comes out clean, has made his money, blame all the lies on the aliens from outerspace...and Walt can say to Skyler,....." I know you won't believe this and have tried to figure out a way to explain all the lies and the second phone but this is how it happened..........etc, etc.....AND Jessie can use his share to go to a luxurious rehab in Beverly Hills, CA.

user-pic

Even better Lindas555!! ..That is hilarious...Jesse will end up on Celebrity Rehab...or Sober House. Just kidding. Well...when you get bored...google search Dulce, New Mexico...and read on. TRUST ME...you may get way into that mystery...as I did. Almost as compelling as Breaking Bad. Perhaps aliens caused the plane crash too!! But seriously...the writers have Walt backed into a corner...and I believe he will finally tell Skyler the truth. It will be an awesome start to Season 3.

default userpic

Jane's dad couldn't have ''caused'' the crash as airplanes are now fitted with short range proximity sensors, see there was a case of an Airtraffic controller causing a similar accident some years back when airplanes didn't have their own radar system, and since then all airlines have had to have this ''aircraft collision avoidance'' unit installed.
Jane's Dad is only part to blame, the pilots would have been notified automatically that they were too close to another plane a few ten's of seconds before the crash.

I agree with you drakeflix, Skyler will leave Walt for Tod, I hope Walt will kill him, as Tod's annoying! Anyways I think the biggest problem having to be addressed in Season 3 is will the NTSB investigators, with all their metal detectors etc, stumble upon Walts stash of Green hidden in his garage (or did he give it all to Saul's Anonymous donation Tech?). Speaking of Saul's connection, Didn't Walt seem to have realized that the Anonymous donation thing isn't exactly keeping things low key?
Methinks he'll have to come up with a better idea, maybe get Saul to ''pay'' Walt for his private detective work on one of his current students, Walts been working so dilligently for the past few months! ha!

default userpic

The gambling idea is a good way to get Walt out of the corner, especially if it's card counting in blackjack. Even though Walt's speciality is chemistry and not math, he appears to be smart enough to pull off counting cards. Moreover, it would give Walt everything he needs: an excuse for the money (that gives him credit for his intelligence, which as we know is important to him), a reason to have a second cell phone (gambling partner--maybe Jesse), a reason for absences, a reason why he wouldn't tell them about it.

user-pic

Yes...the gambling idea would work like a charm. I seriously wonder if any of the writers read these blogs. But I have a gut feeling Walt will tell the truth. I think Walt WANTS to get it ALL off his chest. How the hell can he keep all of this stuff inside? He took these risks for the family...not himself. He thought he was a goner...almost the whole season. If not...to be realistic...there simply HAS TO BE more venting between Walt and Jessie and Gus and Saul. I am sure everyone except of course..."Sleazy Saul" is freaking out by now. Gus kept a poker face when he found out Hank and Walt know each other...but may be pissed...or may not be pissed...thinking Walt is brilliant...or maybe even thinking Hank is in on it too. Just great to think about. Love the writing. It is so much fun!!

Yeah...Todd is a weasel. He looks like Rahm-bo "Dead Fish" Emanuel...the White House Chief of Staff. One thing...Skyler KNOWS FULL WELL...Todd is embezzling money or something...so he is shady. That Marilyn Monroe scene was creepy. Skyler wants him...no question about it. No idea where that might lead. I realized...Walt's money laundering donations...did NOT come in QUICK ENOUGH.

Walt Jr had that..."donations counter" on the website. No question about it...it reminded Walt of Tuco's final scene when he and Jessie were held hostage. DING!! DING!! DING!! I laughed when I realized it. That was why Walt Sr. told him to turn down the volume...it reminded him of Tuco...besides feeling really guilty.

That $100,000 should have come right in...much faster...but Walt had no idea...that Skyler might be baffled about the 2nd cell phone. So...just maybe...she would not have gone digging around the hospital bills. Who knows. Saul will be hearing about that one next season for sure. Walt should have covered his tracks on that one. In the final scene...you can see Walt did NOT cover his tracks with his mom, either...and he was so pissed at himself. He rolled his eyes...like damn it...I'm busted. Skyler says..."thanks for that one too"...FUNNY!!

Hey...I keep forgetting to put this out there...I love that commercial where Walt has that rag...with what appears to be chloroform on it...and he is stepping toward the camera...and says..."I've heard just about enough out of you." What is that from? I mean...did I miss part of an episode? Does anyone know? It is driving me crazy!!

user-pic

DrakeFix: I think what you saw when Walt had that rag coming at the camera was on one of the mini-sodes the producers made just for fun.

Another prediction I'd like to make for Season 3 is that the Mexican drug cartel (The famous boys from Juarez) will start to enter the scene. They have to sooner or later. Walt's blue meth is getting into the hands of people from all over the US southwest - places that the bad boys like to call their turf. They have to find a way to stop it or else they're out of business.

user-pic

Walt can’t tell Skyler the truth about the meth and the money. His hidden life from Sky (as well as everyone else) is one of the essential tension points in the plot. No, he will either come up with another lie or somehow avoid addressing the issue altogether. I like the gambling angle as it can work quite well providing plausible answers to all of Walt’s loose ends.

Another (albeit far more whazoo) theory is that somehow Walt fakes his own death in the debris from the plane. Not sure how this would work mechanically, but Walt’s glasses in the evidence bag (and the two body bags) still need to be addressed and I don’t think they are “pink herrings” like the teddy bear. I know this theory is far out (gotta give credit to my bro T for the idea), but I’m digging it and if the writers wanted to go there, I’m sure they could make it work. A dead Walter could take the plot into unforeseen places as Walt watches Sky fall into Ted’s arms from the grave and Heisenberg hooks up with a hottie to satisfy his power-driven horn-bone. This theory can also get the money into his family’s hands (via savewalter.com) in a way that leaves Skyler, Flynn, and Holley taken care of while leaving Skyler guilt-free. With the money gone, Heisenberg will need to cook yet again.

Can you imagine the look on Hank’s face when he finally stumbles onto dead Walter in the bust of his career in the season 3 finale?

Probably totally wrong, but its fun to think about. Can’t wait for the writers to “Strap on the shizzle and glass up the rest” for season 3.

Sorry for the double post. Sometimes this site is spastic yo!

Two good lies to get Skyler back...

(1) Where did the money come from ?
.... Walt is very bitter about not being part of Gray Matter and , since he was there when the company started, knows alot about it's corp secrets. Walt can claim he's been selling corp. secrets to the Gray Matter Competition. Corporate espionage is illegal and pays big bucks. -- This would also explain why he's on the outs with the owners of Gray Matter. -- We know Skyler would stay if this was the reason as we've seen Skyler stay with a boss that is committing illegal business acts. -- Skyler can not disprove this lie as no company is going to admit that they bought Corp Secrets from Walter.

(2) Why the second cell phone and time away from home ?
Walts Second Lie: Walt got to know Jesse from the Marijuana buy in season one... as he has already admitted. He relizes that Jesse would not have become a dealer if he had not been flunked out of school , and walt feels partially responsible for the flunking out ! So he needed to reconcile this feeling of guilt , before he dies, by getting Jesse back from the Bad Side. He can prove this to be true as the phone calls on the second phone are from Jesse AND he can prove that he currently has Jesse in a Rehab Program ! When he was away from home he was with Jesse ... to help him back from his drug abuse.

default userpic

The Big Question is: Who was on the plane?

I believe that Walt's former friend - the boss of Gray Matter - might have been a passenger on the plane. This has two repercussions -
Walt feels guilty for being responsible for his friend's death
AND
Walt is now free to seek comfort with his widow - Walt's first love - when Skye begins her own inevitable affair.

Skye, of course, will find Walt's money. She will be shocked, hurt - and pragmatic. She will demand that Walt give her $1 million to bail her boss out of his own financial troubles.

Flynn should have a close encounter of his own with drugs - namely Sky Blue (or Blue Sky). This will devastate Walt.

This show reminds me of some lines in Moby Dick where Melville explains the difference between good and evil, viz, an act of good lives briefly then dies, but an act of evil is capable of reproducing itself endlessly.

user-pic

Bigfreakinnaz said: "he can also say that during the "Four Days Out" he was in Vegas doing the blackjack tables. It'll be foolproof."

This plan is anything BUT foolproof. It would be so easy to disprove that Walt won this money in a casino. Casinos are required by law create a CTR-Casino (Currency Transaction Report - Casino) for any transaction or aggregate of transactions $10,000 and over. They would also immediately put him into the player tracking system once they determined he was a "high roller," which he most certainly would be with his kind of cash. Also, every square inch of a casino is covered by surveillance cameras; if Walt was dropping big bucks at a BJ table, he would have caught the attention of the surveillance department. It really wouldn't take much to prove that he was not at a casino, let alone win $480K. There would definitely be some type or record (s) that Walt was in a casino and won nearly a half-million dollars.

user-pic

Walter gets Skyler to come back home by telling a big lie about how he got the money. He tells her that the money was obtained thru selling Gray Matter Corp secrects to the competition. Skyler wants proof so Walter brings her along on a meeting with the corporations laywer , which is really just Saul. So now Skyler knows that it's corp. espionage , but we know she won't go to the cops about illegal buisiness deals , since she didn't when her boss had illegal dealings. In fact Saul , unbeknownest to Walter, starts to get Skyler involved in the laundering of Walts money. Through these dealings Skyler eventually meets Gus as well ... so now Skyler is chin deep into the "Bad Side" without knowing what it's really about . Saul and Gus are very happy about this because now Skyler can't go to the police even if she wanted to as well as Saul and Gus having a stronger hold on Walter.
Now Walter is faced with the dilemma of protecting Skyler from involvement while being attracted to her involvement since it means he can show her what kind of money he is able to make...Even though she thinks it's through Corp espionage. When Skyler does actually find out what's going on ... at the end of Season 3 ... it's now to late , since she's to deep into it to report it to the Police.

Some people are commenting on Gus not know about Walt having a relative that is a DEA Agent and making guesses of who the bodies are. If you follow this link you can read and interview with Vince G. that state's ...
1) Gus is a careful person and would have already researched , and knew , Walts family situation

2) bodies in those bags on the driveway are just random airplane passengers

Walt will be kid napped by Gus and forced to cook for him.only one who will know Walt's missing will be Jessie.Jessie will track down Gus by Saul. Then as has been way out things will happen but they will eventually escape The ricin is still hanging out there so maybe that is what they use to escape.Skyler will have a affair with her boss and keep Walt's money its now in Flynn's pay pal account forcing him back to cooking.Eventually the cancer returns at the end of 3 and Walt will pass away with Jessie by his side regretting not seeing his daughter but satisfied in the fact they have money and the series ends.

default userpic

Walt's complaint--One step forward Two steps backwards..Poster suggested Gus coming after Walt..Why?
Walt made 1.2 million what did Gus make? Walt is a cash cow for Gus. But somehow I don't believe their partnership will last. Perhaps Gus was on one of the airplanes that crashed. Skylar can't tell the truth. Why because that would mess up the strory line..(raising suspicion with Hank.)..U guys may have hit the nail
on the line...Telling Hank he made a scoop at the casino. I wonder at the blurb showing Hank and Walt dressed in white--as a wedding? Who gets married that they both know? I really think
Skylar will become involved--- Ted's business
does shipping.(good cover for transporting drugs)

default userpic

Tchefuncte Tiger pointed out some problems with the blackjack scenario, and some of them are good, but the problems are not insurmountable. Casinos could surely track Walt, but only casinos have access to that information. Skyler couldn't walk in and say "Hi, is my husband a high roller?"

Secondly, who said that he was only playing legitimate casinos? He could say that he started with that, but there are lots of private games out there for high rollers, notification of which could take place on a certain second cell phone.

Thirdly, he has been absent a LOT. It's hard to have a sense of the timelines in the show, but if we go by Skyler's pregnancy approximately four months have passed since the show started. If he started gambling right away, and if he made about $5,000 per day, that's 60 days of gambling to bring in $300,000.

The problem with the selling-secrets-to-Grey-Matter-competition theory is that there's no compelling reason for Walt to keep that from Skyler. Gambling is riskier--more of an addiction. Addiction often leads to lies, which in this case makes it far more plausible.

user-pic

pretty sure those planes were inbound coming from the west.

So randomn bodies from the plane , not BB members.

user-pic

Sinnerman saind: "Skyler couldn't walk in and say "Hi, is my husband a high roller?""

Hank could via gaming regulators. It wouldn't be that difficult. However, unless the information was subpoenaed as part of a criminal investigation, it could not be used to prosecute Walt. It would, though, prove-or-disprove Walt's casino alibi. I would actually use the casino to wash my cash, FWIW.

You also have to realize that Skyler is an accountant; I'm sure she does their annual income taxes. I'm sure she'll want the W-2G forms so she could claim Walt's winnings on their taxes.

"Secondly, who said that he was only playing legitimate casinos?"

I'll concede this, but he still has "illegal" money. He's going to have to launder it somehow, but at least it's not meth money.

"Thirdly, he has been absent a LOT. It's hard to have a sense of the timelines in the show, but if we go by Skyler's pregnancy approximately four months have passed since the show started. If he started gambling right away, and if he made about $5,000 per day, that's 60 days of gambling to bring in $300,000."

This wouldn't be a problem at an underground casino, except that if were taking the house for $5K/day with no losses he would be buzzard bail. Casinos like losers, not winners. Legit casinos would complete IRS and other required paperwork and he'd show up on the FINCIN data base.

However, to change the subject, I believe Ted is going to get busted before Walt, and I think Skyler's going down with him. Walt is going to have to use some of his ill gotten gain to keep her out of prison. The balance of power will shift in the White household. I got to thinking about when Ted hired Skyler. He seemed all to eager to re-hire her for her old position. I thought maybe he was just thinking with his pecker, but perhaps he wanted a patsy to take the fall for his tax scheme. Maybe the IRS is on to him and he needed someone to deflect some of the blame. I know his fraudulent activity began before her employment, but she is now complicit in his scheme because she knows about it yet chooses to not report him. She can be prosecuted.

user-pic

I disagree with Sinnerman when he says "The problem with the selling-secrets-to-Grey-Matter-competition theory is that there's no compelling reason for Walt to keep that from Skyler".

I think there are alot more reasons to keep that from skyler than gambling. The selling of corp secrets involves ; steeling millions of dollars of information from friends , it involves risk a million dollar lawsuits from Gray Matter if caught , risk crimial charges , risks guilt by assocation for skyler meaning no more accounting jobs, and ... if the secrets were sold to chemical companies based in other forien countries could put the whites at risk of being considered traitors to the country an involed in treason. Hmmmm I think most wives would be more upset with this than ... ummm dear ... I've been gambling behind your back.

ALSO:
The selling of corporate secrets is more believable ... If you had to make $300,000 in the next 6 months or litterally die which would you do ?... especially if you were viewed as a cautious man! ... run off to a casino with you life savings and hope to win it OR .... sell some things , that you had access to and nobody would miss , that were worth $300,000 ?!?

Lets look at motive and opportunity ...
Motive: Walt feels the Gray Matter is based on ideas stollen from him
Oppurtunity: Walt knows the chemistry and knows who Gray Matter compition is.

IN SHORT: The selling of corp secrets is more believable , available , lower risk of being caught in a lie than the gambling .

OOPS ...sorry about dbl post... if someone can remove the first one I'd appreciate it.

I think Walt’s mother will have to appear in at least one episode during season three. Walter’s relationship with his mother is close enough that Skyler believed him when Walter pretended to visit her for four days. And Skyler’s relationship with the mother must be quite strained in that she doesn’t seem to appreciate having to communicate with her. After all, most mothers are going to show up if ; their son is dieing of cancer , a new grand-daughter has just joined the family , Skyler leaving Walter…. It will be unrealistic if Walt’s mother doesn’t appear!
So I wondering :
 Who would play Walt’s mother ?
 What would she be like ?
 What would her relationship be with Walt, Skyler, Walt Jr. ?
 Would Heisenberg be affected by her ?

default userpic

Ooooo that is an excellent idea about Skyler getting busted along with Ted for the shady business practices. That would serve to negate any pressure she could apply to Walt in forcing him to come up with an explanation. If she were mired in her own legal mess, her own credibility would be shot. Walt could then just bail her out of it as best he could, then they could both just agree to forgive one another for their transgressions, put it behind them and move on. It's an interesting thought.

I trust the writer 'Vince Gilligan' to create a most wonderful and entertaining TV show to watch and enjoy the next season and
do hope the same actors will fulfill their roles. Predicting what
might happen in this story takes away some of the surprises we all like to experience while watching this unusually good show. My husband says to sign "written by a Skank!".

To be honest... I HATE the character of Walter's wife and their relationship.... I don't know what it is... its just getting annoying. I wish that either they would separate for at least a while or he told her. I want Walter to develop more into a drug kingpin - that'd be fun.

I believe season 3 will begin with a lie to appease things or maybe more likely - season 3 will take place a lot during a separation...Will he tell his wife the truth? I don't think so because if so... then I believe the writers would have ended s2 with that line...at least that's how it should have ended if they plan on starting s3 with the truth out.

I don't get his relationship - the writer's originally wanted him to be caring of his family and wanted to provide them with $$$ for the baby before his death.... but recently he just seems distant from his family... feels as though he wanted to die and go out with a bang but now he has all this time and money and is bored with his family ...but I also can't see that with the introduction of this baby.

Well.... I could go on thinking...

user-pic

Okay, so I know this is going to sound crazy, but after I saw the season 2 finale, this was my guess for season 3...

I think that the body bags in the drive-way of the home could be Walt Jr and Hank. Skyler left with the baby, and told Walt that Hank would be stopping by to pick Walt Jr up after school. Walt was in the backyard by the pool when the plane crashed. Maybe Hank was there to pick up Walt Jr when the plane crashed and fell down on the house causing a fire and explosion, possibly killing Walt Jr and Hank in the process. I know it sounds far fetched, but here is why it would work:

It more than likely could bring Skyler and Walt back together. After the loss of a child, they would need to be there to comfort one another, thus making Walts "lies" unimportant for the moment. Especially since they now also have a baby to take care of. Not to mention, it would sort of be an ironic "karma" - Walt let Jane die, and then Jane's father would have unknowingly caused Walt's sons death.

As for killing off Hank, it would throw off the drug investigation. hank was the one who was most adamant about "Heisenberg" still being out on the street. If Hank were to die, since he was most invested in the investigation, it would possibly slow down the trail of of the blue ice leading toward Walt or Jesse.

Not to mention, the killing off of two vital characters from the show, would definitely throw the viewers for a loop. I'm not saying that is definitely what happened of course, but that was the first thing that came into my mind while watching the finale a few weeks ago.

default userpic

Heres what I think, Walts gonna fake his death.

default userpic

There are a few things that caught my attention during the season finale, but may have been a bit subtle to even bother with. I don't know, but I'm just guessing.

In the final scenes, we see Walt with a goatee similar to Donald's. Maybe it's a sign that Donald and Walt may have some type of "arch nemesis" relationship in the future. Donald may discover through Jesse that Jane’s death could have been prevented. I believe that Walt will somehow let Jesse know of what really happened to Jane. This also could lead Jesse to angrily turn on Walt. Though we don't know the nature of the midair plane crash, but perhaps Donald is very capable of destruction in other ways we don't know. And it's ironic that Donald and Walt met by coincidence in a bar having similar personal dilemmas. I think it's a classic villain story. If this is the case, where would Hank fit in? Probably still on the chase.

Why wouldn’t Donald simply turn in Walter to the authorities? Maybe he doesn’t know or wants personal revenge. Donald could go after Walter Jr. Walter Jr. could start a drug addiction during the next season, putting more strain on Walter. We saw how Walter forced his son to drink and this could lead Jr. to the addiction. Tension would definitely increase over Skyler taking the baby, possibly a divorce, and a side relationship Ted. This could create more problems for Walter and his family.

I've read some of the other posts regarding the airplane crash and how they're similar to the real Walter White. I believe it's just a bad omen for Walt, again incorporating Donald into the story, something like how the next season is going to have a darker plot. I did find it interesting how Walter was wearing a pink shirt as the pink teddy bear fell from the sky. I think the “innocent” Walter we know and understand is dead in the new season, and a new Walter with a much darker persona will be seen. He could fully embrace the whole drug lord lifestyle like Gus. Obviously, Gus will hesitantly have some interest in working with Walt and using Walt as production source, as well as, an ear to the ground regarding Hank. I think we may also find out how Gus got started in his secret business and I bet it will be similar to Walter’s start.

Season 3 would then end with everyone meeting at Los Pollos, comfortably eating some chicken, and the screen just goes black! The end and no more Breaking Bad. Ha ha ha!

default userpic

alright...tv interview?!!!!! holy hairballs! How many have seen his face and know it as Heisenberg?? Oh boy...this could be weird!

Interesting posts, yo.

I think in the final episode of the series, Donald returns to try to kill Jesse. He tracks them to their meth lab and Walt intervenes by confessing to letting Jane die. Donald then kills Walt and then himself, leaving Jesse to survive. Jesse books a flight to New Zealand.

I like the concept of Skylar getting indicted for bookkeeping. That gives Walt a way to bail her out no questions asked.

Walt gambling as an out is interesting. I would actually like to see him gamble, since I know some professional players and Walt would prob do well with his scary math skills and ability to bluff.

While I think Gus is too clever to get caught, I think it would be an interesting twist if Walt gets close to the truth through his love of Pollos Hermanos chicken. I can see a DEA meeting where Hank raves about the chicken and four other agents remark how they have it in their turf too. I would like to see some more of Gus's operation.

Gretchen will return, but romance with Walt?

default userpic

I think Walt will begin to calculate how to get his family to beleive that he's been working two jobs, though I doubt that Gus would take a risk on Walt by backing a lie that their legal business partners in his restuarants. He would make it imperative that Walt report any information that could effect his end of the meth business, since he'd keep Walt under close scruntiny for the fact that when they first met Jesse was high, his brother-in-law's in the DEA, and the fact that he'll learn soon enough that Jesse's in rehab and will veiw all this as hazardous to the business (the meth business). I think that Walt will maybe have to kill Gus, since he might kill him veiwing him as a potential spy for the DEA. But only after he milks his amazing skill at making meth to its fullest, and probably teaching others to cook like him to guarentee that the stream of product keeps coming. I also think that the loss of Jane will lead Jesse into soberity like his parents hoped, but will also make him put two and two together that Walt is responsible for her death and come looking for him intent on killing him, forcing Walt to kill him. If Walt kills Jesse and Gus he'll have the network that was Gus's and he'll have learned how it works from Jesse, this will cause more problems because Skyler will want answers. I think Walt jr. will maybe take money from the on-line charity he started to help out, and that it'll be what Walt uses to launder his money cutting the attorney out chances are after killing him when he finds out he's been stealing from him. I think that Walt will use Hank for intel purposes, but the relationship will be on the rocks because of Walt skipping his son up a milestone by letting him drink early so he;ll use him sparingly. Walt will chances are like it or not for him become an El Patron of meth, since this is something that you can't just shut off. And as he rises, his old life will slowly begin to fall apart even more.

No matter the twists and turns in the upcoming season..The final finale.. has to be the original opening in the first season...Remember? Walt driving the RV frantically in the desert.. being chased by several cop cars. He jumps out in his underwear and makes a call on his cell phone..He has some 'xplainin to do.....The call has to be to Skylar.

default userpic

All of you guys have really good posts! Just a thought...what if Walt comes clean with Skyler and says he is getting out of the business? ...He could then teach Jesse to become a pro cook...let Jesse distribute. Walt could then take a cut of the profits...after Walt invests some of the equipment and ingredients of course.

I can't wait for season 3 Hank is developing into a very complex character. His machismo is no longer an adequate defense mechanism for having killed aguy and he also is feeling ill qualified and outcast by the other dea agents because he can't speak spanish.I think he will continue losing his passion for pursuing dealers and simultaneously he will figure out Walt is Heisenberg.Hank will first try and persuade Walt to work under cover and set up Guus thereby restoring his swagger at the office, but Walt will maintain Gus' annonimty,Hank will realize how much money he could make as a dea insider and Hank will "Break Bad". Once again Walt is in a moral dilemna. He can only trust the brother in law he never really liked if he brings him in as an insider.Just as walt tries to get out Hank will want in.Hank will think he has the upper hand because he sees Walt as being weak and of course he could arrest him anytime.By the time hank respects how dangerous Heisenberg is it will be too late.Walt will easily record Hank agreeing to mislead the DEA away from Gus' operations.
Hank will play along and try to double cross walt by having Walt set up a meeting with gus.Heisenberg will go to set up the meeting and tell Gus Hank is trying to set him up and suggest all he needs to keep his well oiled machine running is eliminate Hank and Sol.He will kill hank and Sol and possibly Jesse. In exchange for the tip off walt will stay safely retired from the meth business. I don't know what he will tell Skyler. If Gus didn't already kill Jesse I think he will be rejected by his parents when he returns from rehab. He will contact Walt because he knows walt cares about him. When Gus" eyes on the street see them together Gus will get nervous and have them killed

user-pic

d-bone...I am not sure Walt wants to stop making BlueSky and allow Jessie to completely take over the making of the meth. Walt seems to get a "rush" of making this wonderful pure "Blue Sky" himself and takes pride in developing such a meth that no one else can produce. It's Walt's "Creation" of a Meth that surpasses all other meth made and to give the forumula to Jessie, I am not sure he will trust Jessie to produce it as Walt does.

default userpic

My take on the end of Season 2 is that Skyler and the baby died in the crash and Walt's son will have have to turn "Bad."

default userpic

I think that Walt doesn't even offer an explanation ? I say they stay separated for at least the first chunk of Season 3 with Walt diving head first into the dark world of meth dealing, and Skylar has an affair with boss and gets involved in the embezzling somehow ? I think that this allows Vince and the writers to avoid some weird/unbelievable story/excuse and allows him the reigns to cause more havoc and mayhem in the underworld. This to me is by far the most plausible scenario and Walt attempts to stay one step ahead of Hank in the cat n mouse game they are currently playing....

Fellow commenter KOS writes about how the opening scene's of Breaking Bad season 1 with Walt half naked driving the RV LAB is somehow an unfinished scene, but in reality, that scene wrapped up at the end of that episode, so I hate to disappoint him.

I for one think that Walt gives Jesse his share of the loot once outta rehab and they try and hire new recruits to pull off 1 or 2 more big deals, then Walt plans to shut down and walk away but Gus, Sal etc frame him into having to continue in the business until Walt does away with all and walks away from the mess free and clear, with a big stack of loot for his family just as the cancer catches up with him.

Oh and one more thing, I think that Walt starts using his meth to give him energy so he is able to function near the end when his cancer starts getting the better of him, and that doesn't go over very well either.

Does anyone know when the next season of Breaking Bad is supposed to start ? Its killing me that there is no info as to when we can expect season 3 ????

user-pic

You pretty much have the same ideas that I had for Walt, Skyler, Jessie,Gus and Saul, Deke. I think Season 3 will start out slow but steady and increase the tension as the Season continues.

I heard that Season 3 might begin sometime in March of 2010, but then that timeline could be wrong as I don't think anyone knows when Season 3 is to start.

user-pic

Why would Skyler and the baby die? Highly unlikely, they had left quite a while ago in the car, you should rather say it was lucky they had left in time. As far as I could see the 2 dead bodies lay where Skyler's car was earlier. So who knows what could have happened had they been in the house or still in the driveway.

As for Walt, I had a lot of grazy ideas about him using the plane crash to fake his death somehow. But I guess there would not be enough time for this and I can't really think of a way to do it. I think first thing for him to do is hide the money. Unless he is injured in the crash, then he won't be able to do that.
And then he just has to come up with a good excuse for Skyler. Or he won't and he will try to make as much money as he possibly can until his death. At least with the website up he now has the perfect way to give them the money without them knowing where it came from.
Have I mentioned that I think this is the greatest TV show I have ever seen? :-)

user-pic

This is a great thread, it's almost like we are giving the writers some fanfare and/or advice for more insane ideas, if they are still filming.. :)

default userpic

I'm thinking along the same lines as zoomsplat(9/14/2009). I like the idea of Hank breaking bad. The whole bad cop, double cross, insider info thing. Maybe bring in some other dirty cops. I see a lot of different ways that could go. Plus I'd like to see all the internal tension in Hanks character. There's already something going off in his head. I'm sure there will be more deaths in season 3 but count on Walt, Skyler, Walt Jr., Hank, Marie and Jesse to still be there in the season finale. Those guys are gold.

default userpic

I am still sticking with the idea that Walt will not tell Skylar anymore than he has....as far as the truth goes. She will run to Ted, this isn't permanent but that is where she will go. Also, Jesse is getting out of rehab and he will think he wants to make a clean slate until the hard truth surfaces that he has no skills ....Walt and Jesse have a real bond, they do care about each other and Jesse has no one else. Hank already suspects, but he will not do the bad cop thing.....Walt jr will figure this out first!

user-pic

I wonder how much more crazy it can get and how many more seasons there will be... There has to be a limit to the insanity... Even Gilligan admits that it can only go so far...

user-pic

I can't see them killing off Jesse or Walt during the next season even, it'd ruin the show for so many fans..

user-pic

I can not find a thread to talk about tonight's rerun of Episode 10.....
But it reminded be a few things, one: Walt Jr needs to get the stick out of his @ss [can you say (asss) on here?]
so does Sky. whats up with attitude when Walt is is fixing the house?? I have watched it before and never noticed the disdain in their faces, as I saw tonight...

And the end where the cash register dings as the camera zoomed into to Walt, and the song starts, that turns the end of this episode in to an awesome music video- just rocks!

It reminds me of what great writing this show has!
and I wish the people on the other main "Talk" pages would just quit bitchin' about "WHERE'S THE NEW SEASON (3) Already?"
Are you so short sighted? to see that the writers need time to develop the stories that blow most of out of the water.??
Really i am not on here to fight but i have seen the threads of;... WHERE ??? so much.

I am thrilled to see the reruns every Sunday night, and yeah i taped the shows and still watch an episode almost every night; but seriously, few shows have the impact this one does. the writers are amazing, I wish i was in the business, when i see a quality production like this. I only hope AMC will continue the show and play it out as far as it can go. Walt and Jesse have miles to go before we are bored with them!.

I love hearing songs/Music like tonight where I look it up on here with you guys and then buy it on iTunes (if i can)
Music Videos used to be very powerful.
When Walt does deliver that line at the end of the show (episode 10) it really is powerful. It makes me want to find the same inner strength Walt has found. (but I have not)
That kind of character development just doesn't happen over the summer - I assume.? and a new set of episodes filmed for OCT 1st.
I have no idea of the real time line but; have assumed one thing- that these episodes are filmed NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER when i can only guess its 110 degrees. Does anyone know? or agree?
Jesse is always wearing a over long sleeved jacket, it not like we see tanktops and flipflops. ABQ certainly gets as hot in the summer as a desert floor would. I have to admit I have not looked it up, since i gave up the idea of moving there 10 years ago, so i do not know the climate. but shooting in Arizona for example.... might be HOT?
well, I just want to say THANKS to the Writers If you read these forums, and CHILL to the impatients waiting (like me) for Season 3 to start. WE ARE LUCKY we get a season 3. They cancelled The SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES on FOX!!
SO a BIG THANK YOU TO AMC!

user-pic

>Walt Jr needs to get the stick out of his @ss [can >you say (asss) on here?]
>so does Sky. whats up with attitude when Walt is is >fixing the house??

I think Walt Jr is just being a typical teenager with his attitude sometimes...

I wonder why almost every woman on Breaking Bad plays a bitch. Skylar, Marie, and Jane are all annoying bitches. I know she is supposed to play that role, but who the hell wants to listen to it on TV? Hopefully Season 3 will have nothing to do with her.

default userpic

Didn't read all of these, but I think Sambo (9/17) is right. Skylar and the baby died in the crash, hence the focus on the pink bear and crash aftermath in the intros throughout the season. Nice tidy wrap for the lies that can't be easily sustained, karma for ruining so many other families (esp. Jane and her dad!), and carte blanche for Walt to continue breaking bad.

I think Skylar may get it in the crash since her actions to ignore the book cooking turned her bad, and it seems in this show bad things happen to people once they turn (except IDK what Jane's dad did, been a while since season 2). The body bags just make you wonder if their house is eventually bombed and family members die during the black and white intros since it is obvious that is their house throughout. Hence the Spanish intro song about Heisenberg getting it... classic misdirection.

Walt may eventually bring Walt Jr./Flynn on board since he started breaking by drinking. That or Jr. gets hooked or ODs on meth after Skylar dies, leaving Walt all alone entirely of his own actions. Maybe Walt starts using, like Deke said, for more plot twists but most likely Jesse downward spirals instead. Hank seems to be pretty set on being good, but he allowed Jr. to have a couple and is getting dissatisfied in his new post... that and Marie's a klepto and he knows it. Since Gus knows/knew about the DEA b-i-l, Walt cooks at a high profit level now, and Marie maybe goes nuts with her sis dead Hank may either have a price or one on his head.

I don't ever follow tv shows; Breaking Bad is the first. Bryan Cranston is the man. Best. show. ever.
