Does Skyler resemble a Shrike?

A Shrike:
"....A medium-sized bird similar to a bird of prey with a predatory nature that impales their victim on thorns in order to tear the flesh into smaller, more convenient fragments and later will return to devour the uneaten portions at a later time"....Wikipedia
Look it up and what are YOUR thoughts?

A Shrike? No, I dont think so. Skylar is a pretty level headed woman, I mean compared to that Psycho sister of her's Marie. Skylar does not go out of her way to create any problems for anyone and that says a lot about her.

Skyler might be level headed, but she sure has Walt on a pretty short lease as proven in Season #1. I do understand her suspicions though when Walt has no explanation for his whereabouts, and those tall lies, but I don't think he has covered his tush for those long hours away from home at strange hours of the day. The lie of Walt seeing his Mother and Skyler found out, Walt really screwed up big time. I don't believe Walt is good at lying and in the past, he didn't appear the need to lie to her. Skyler really doesn't give Walt a chance to breathe when he has to account for his time every minute of the day as shown in Season#1. Skyler seems to have a over active "control" problem with her family and maybe that stems from being an accountant...... sometimes accountants tends to see the world in a "black and white" mode, without any grey areas.

Marie is a "poster child" needing long term mental health counseling and therapy and in complete denial of her klepto problem. I think we will see more of her "out of control" indiscretions in Season #3.

Linda, True Skylar has Walt on a pretty short leash, but she is the Wife, that's her job right? When a Woman gets it in her head that's something is up (Dose not add up), they automatically go into suspicion mode. As far as the "control" issue, again this is the domain of the female. Skylar is a control Freak of sorts, but not as bad as her sister Marie. Marie controls the situation by needing to be the center of attention (Insecurity), Skylar is more confident and self assured. BTW I love Marie's Klepto aspect of her character, it adds a little comic relief to the show, wish she would relapse and get arrested and be thrown onto jail with the common folk (Drug users, Hookers, etc).

My view of Skyler might seem to be harsh when I describe her as a "Shrike" and from Wikipedia, the description is quite graphic, but in comparsion to another classic film called, " The Shrike" (starring June Allison, and Jose Ferrer), Skyler seems to parallel June Allison's demeaner to a "T!" June Allison's character also bereates her husband as does Sklyer, to the brink of pushing the husband to a breaking point. I think Walt was eventually getting to that brink himself.

I do agree with you, R.W. of Marie being more of a control freak than Skyler, but Skyler also does have issues with control, too. And yes, Marie demands the "limelight" continually, which seems to be a tug and pull with Marie and Skyler. Marie comes off as arrogant and flippant without any regard for anyone else.

Marie fraternizing with druggies in jail might be quite interesting to say the least....LOL...
