Our Resident Classic Noir Femme Fatale?

Does Jane have the potential to be a true noir femme fatale? Notice she always wears black, but has what I consider the deceptively sweet, innocent features of a young girl. Will she be turn out to be the "helpful" female who betrays the hero (Jesse) in the end? I'm thinking of such femme fatales from the likes of "Maltese Falcon", "Out of the Past" and "Body Heat". Does Jane have an agenda? So far, no new character on the scene has been incidental to the story......

It finally occurred to me, who Jane reminds me of.....Betty Paige. Not as voluptuous, of course, but the black hair, creamy pale skin, and bee sting lips. She gives nothing away which is unusual for someone young, don't you think? Or especially when you've met someone new, it would seem natural for there to be more revealing going on (not on Jesse's side of course), but Jesse has told more about himself to her, than she has to him.

Especially when she was standing in the doorway in her black bra with her long black hair and red lips, flipping her coin to Jesse......the only thing missing was a cigarette hanging from her lips and smoke curling in the air. Very noirish looking scene.

jamm54 Was Betty a Pin-Up girl? You're right...Jane does favor her a lot!
She does seem pretty much closed-mouthed, as far as revealing much of anything about herself...
What's up with that???
Hmmmmm. =/

Yes, Bettie Paige (had her name spelled wrong) was a famous pin-up girl of the naughty variety from the 1950's (who recently passed away). Considered very racy, unwholesome, and sexual, usually in lingerie and suggestive poses; tame by today's standards. She wasn't for public consumption in those days, and her fame and popularity really came in the last two decades. A contemporary figure who is suggesive of her, and actually did a photo spread evoking Bettie Paige in the last couple of years is a woman by the name of Dita Von Teese (former flame of Marilyn Manson).

If you look up Dita Von Teese on Wikipedia, there's a picture of Bettie Paige on there - it'll give you an idea of what she looks like (one of her tamer pics) - she's usually not that clothed.

I keep getting her name spelled wrong. Officially, it's Bettie Page. She apparently did films too (didn't know that), I just knew she did pin-ups of the bondage variety. Associated with Hugh Hefner, etc. There was a bio film out on her recently in the 2000s.

Back to Jane's potential as a noirish FF - I think she does have it. As much as I like her character for Jesse, I think she could be very lethal for him in the end. There's something very mysterious about her lack of a past or any evidence of ties, and why we haven't heard or seen much of either. Jesse, whose always so open, fairly trusting and wanting acceptance, could be opening up to the wrong person.

Nice touch treating Jesse to a brand new (I think it was in plastic, like fresh Meth) KING size mattress, and followed with Queen worship rituals to test drive the new comfort station. Like much has been said, #2 certainly deserved some rockstar treatment after his crack-den, anti-hero antics with that mini Howdy Doody (most probably covered in dooty). Best practice safe sack action, Mr. Pinkman; you're not ready for drug dealer Jr. yet, or ARE you?

That depends on who Jane's father turns out to be. If he's criminal or cartel, I don't think Jesse would survive his in-laws!

Hey Jamm..finally got my video up for the contest. Bill Small doing Walt freaking out..Would love you to take a look!! ThX Hey, maybe they'll have an all black and white show where they really max-out the noir feel..The crackhouse one came pretty close..

I can see the FF angle, but I'm not ready to go there completely yet. But I'll bet Walt doesn't care for the idea that Jesse may be conflicted in his devotion to his "career".

Okay BB! I'll look for your video - if it's anything like your writing, I know I'll enjoy it immensely! Where do I go to see it?

DR I like the way Jane stood up to Walt when he came to Jesse's. Walt was kind of nonplussed that she stood her ground, even though he was "Dad". She could be the woman who comes between the partnership.

Click on the 'video contest' banner up top, or on the "BB" main page. It'll bring you to a page of submitted videos. Right now, I'm a few down the page..bit of a late entry. There's some decent performances out there, BTW, pretty inventive fans out there. Can't wait for more slimy Saul in the next episode..Thx J

BurbankBill I didn't get to see your video! I was too late (I'M SORRY). Tried on Monday, and they only have the top 20 or something. I guess this means I should've looked at it earlier for voting (I was working all weekend). I'd still like to see it, if you want to email it to me at fremontjan@hotmail.com
