**** Sorry ya'll, this is going to be "off-topic" ****

bigfreakinnaz:
What kind of Classic Car do you have?
First car I ever bought myself, was a '74 Cuda. Only had a 318, though. Still, she was fun to drive!
Should've never sold her!!! Oh well...live & learn...*sigh* =\

Also, NOT expecting you to give out your location...but, just a matter of conversation...
I used to live in the Globe/Miami area. Sure do miss Arizona!

If you feel it's none of my business, what kind of car you have...that's OK. I just enjoy talking about Muscle Cars! I TOTALLY understand & respect your privacy, if you wish not to give out any info, on a public forum!

And, once again, I apologize to everybody for going off-topic. =) Too bad there is'nt a PM here.

Not a problem! I have a 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon coupe. "Horizon Blue" (sort of like a robin egg blue) and dark blue landau vinyl top. It has the famous "Rocket 350" engine. I can hardly go anywhere without pointing, jaws dropping and somebody wanting to buy it, but it's not for sale. It is a time machine for sure!

Wow! Saaaa-WEET!!! =) Bet you do get a LOT of double-takes & triple-takes, with that car, huh???
You have EVERY reason to be proud of your car!

Everybody feel free to join in & add your own ideas!

First...a question about Jesses' previous car:

Was it a Super Sport? (Did'nt get a chance to see too much of the details of it, 'cuz I only caught the First Season, during the Marathon.)
It was definately one hot ride! Was sad to see it get "shot up!"
How'd they come to pick that car for him? And, was it a Cast or Crew members car?

And, to finish our previous conversation, bigfreakinnaz:
Did you buy your Cutlass new, or get it restored?
Do you get to attend a lot of Car Shows, or Cruise Ins?
What's the fastest you've had it go? LOL! Sounds like a trick question, huh??? You don't have to answer that one! HAH!
My Dad used to have an Olds 98...man, that thing was a WHALE!!! While at this time, the year escapes me...it was all electric...so am guessing a '76???
What I do remember was, being able to fit 6 to 7 of my friends in it & cruising Main Street...
Ahhhhh...Good times...Good times!!!

user-pic

I'd love to see my old 1967 Mustang Fastback in the show somewhere. I loved my Mustang Bullitt car. My dad put a huge engine in it (390hp 8 cylinder). Power!

Or it would be fantastic to see our 1957 T-Bird hardtop convertible sports car, white with turquoise hardtop, back tire, and turquoise leather bucket seats. A cool car!

I miss chrome, wing vents, two-tone leather interiors and two-tone exterior paint, my two Corvairs I owned and another alltime favorite, our 1959 El Camino.

user-pic

OMG, jamm54!!! Are you a member of IMBOC, too?!? If so...what's your user-name there?
Highland Green...True Blue...or Black???
When looking to buy an '01Bullitt from Chino, CA & wanting to find out more about them...I joined their website & went by "HorseWhisperer."
It's been quite a while, since I've been there...they were all REALLY sweet people & SOOOO helpful!
Then, things got hectic in my life...My son is a Marine & was getting deployed to Afghanistan...so I got depressed and kinda "crumbled" & quit going anywhere on the net for a while.
Wow...this is SO cool! And, I love reading about your other Classic Cars! That'd be freakin' sweet, to see them on Breaking Bad!
My best friend in High School, years ago...(TOO many, that is!) had a Corvair...that lil' car was fun to tool around in!
Thanks for sharing! =)

user-pic

Never heard of that site, diksee. My dad was a mechanic, so I had cars from the time that I was 15. We had some really fantastic cars (3 T-Birds '57, 61, 66) and my brother ALWAYS got convertibles usually Chevy Impalas ('60, '64). There were a couple of cars my brother refused from my dad - didn't like 'em: a late '50s two-tone green and yellow Pontiac convertible with a green/yellow leather interior and a 1964 pink Cadillac with grey leather interior!

The Corvairs and Mustang were mine, and I certainly loved driving them. Our '59 El Camino with the big wing fenders was one my favorites, and I'd sure like to see a version of that come out again. But, particularly, I miss wing vents and chrome and two tone interiors/exteriors. Just really colorful and shiny.

user-pic

My mother even had a little Hudson(?). Haven't seen one of those in 40 years. They almost seemed like a toy or cartoon car, but pretty nifty looking.

My Corvair used to fill up for $2, and would take a couple of blocks to get up to 30mph. In the winter I'd have to drive with the windows open because of the carbon monoxide coming through the heater - couldn't see because my eyes would be burning and watering so much. Ah, cars - I grew up with them because of my dad and all my uncles (who were mechanics and bodymen), and had to help on my own (like putting the engine in my Mustang).

user-pic

Don't we all wish, we could fill our tanks up now, for JUST $2?!?
What's really funny, is...remember scrambling around, just for the change for gas? LOL!
Lucky you, having those cars! I know it prolly was'nt fun, at the time, having to help put in that motor...but, what great memories you must have!
And, yeah, my 'Cuda used to have a bad exhaust leak, too! *cough! cough!*
Hudsons, were those a little bit square-ish? Think I know what you're talking about! Too cute!

user-pic

I bought my Cutlass from this little car lot along the road near my home in Nov. 1988 when I came home from Navy boot camp for a mere $800.00. Was stationed in Virginia, and made the 6 hour drive home every weekend I could. I put it in storage in 1990 because I bought a 1983 Olds 98. I lost the storage for the Cutlass in 2001, brought it to my present garage, and started refurbishment, sneaking it around the neighborhood uninsured and unlicensed just to keep the fluids fresh. I just recently finished the work, got it insured and licensed, and it is my daily driver. I also have a 2003 Olds Bravada which is my baby too. It's Jewelcoat red. I am a die-hard Oldsmobile freak! I have had 8 or 9 different Oldsmobiles in my lifetime.

diksee: The shows and cruise-ins will most likely be coming this summer. I think the fastest I had my Cutlass was up to about 110 or 115 on I-64 from Richmond VA to Norfolk at like 3:00AM one Sunday night going back to where I was stationed at. The only time that car EVER let me down was on a Friday afternoon coming home. I got as far as Breezewood PA when it just shut off. Broken timing chain. Had it rollbacked/towed 60 miles to my parents. Spent all weekend fixing it, drove it back to VA Monday.

When Walt went to Tuco's place to get the money he stole off Jesse, and threw that cyrystal stuff that blew out Tuco's windows? Well, there was a red or orange 1970 Cutlass 442 sitting right there in front of Tuco's building! I about shit! I was hoping it didn't get injured in that blast Walt made.

user-pic

When I was a teenager in 1975, I had a 1968 Cutlass Supreme. Drove it to my cousin's place in Warren MI that summer for like my high school graduation trip. That December, stupid me let some dumb ass chick drive it down this dark dirt road cuz she said she'd have sex with me if I did. Well, a deer jumped out, freaked out the girl, she swerved off the road, went down this ditch and wrapped it around a tree. It was totaled. No, I didn't get laid.

user-pic

bfn That's a sad story about the car. Forget the sex, poor car! LOL. I hope you didn't cry all weekend.....over the car.

user-pic

=( Man, that's sad...I would've cried! Sorry you did'nt get lucky, either! Insult to injury, huh?
What a find, on your '75 Cutlass! And, great that you use it, as your DD! IMO, the whole point, of having something cool, is actually getting to drive it!
Speaking of that 442, in the show...wonder if they ever have "casting calls" (LOL) for certain vehicles?
That'd be fun, if they asked BB fans, for some of our rides, to be used in filming!
While right now, I don't have anything near as sweet, as yours...am on the look-out for a project car. Maybe, it'll all fall in place, soon! =)

user-pic

Perhaps if the BB writing personnel were to do some sort of "Flasback" episode to the days when Walt was seeing (doinking) Gretchen, and wanted to use my Cutlass in the scenes, I may allow that! A precursor to Gretchen's Bentley! And sadly, to Walt, a Pontiac Aztec, that pile of shit. Everytime I see one of those on the road, I go "There's Walt!" - and then realize one of the reasons GM is near bankruptcy is because of them building junk like that. Did anybody see when Walt did that u-ey in the intersection behind Hank's DEA stakeout car, it appeared to go up on 2 wheels! Boy Walt, flipping that Aztec over would've been the ultimate distraction from that bust!

user-pic

I'll bet the cartel boys end up blowing up that Aztec, or destroying it by some other means. I wanna see it!

user-pic

I must be sick. I wonder if the cartel boys would lop off Walt's dome and stick it to the hood of the Aztec, spray "Hola DEA" on the side of it, pack it full of c4 explosives, then roll it down the street in front of the DEA building........I need help.

user-pic

LMAO, bigfreakinnaz! Or, they might hang his head, from the rearview mirror, like an air freshener...Eeek! =(
The writers ALWAYS have a great plot twists!!!
With their imagination...we're definately in for a wild ride!

Don't worry...you don't need help or rehab! What you need is your BB Junkie Fix, of the show! LOL!

As far as Pontiacs, I always did love a "67 GTO!!
My Mom drove a '75 Le Mans...it kicked a few asses! LOL
Did'nt Paul Newman, have a hand, in the earlier design of the Le Mans?

I would LOVE to see your Cutlass, in the show!!

user-pic

I don't know if I would drive it all the way from PA to ABQ to be in an episode, even though I have no doubt whatsoever it would make it and back. That's a loonnnnnnggg haul! I would hope AMC would pay to have it trucked out to there!

I drove my 1983 Olds 98 cross-country from PA to Alameda, CA. Then after I came back from my Persian Gulf tour of duty in 1991, I drove it back to PA. I'll never do that again, especially by myself. That really sucked not having anybody to talk to, but both trips were great experiences.

Have any of you others driven cross country before?

user-pic

Many thanks for serving our Country! Glad to see you made it back safely!
My son is in the Marines & is currently deployed to Afghanistan...I, as well as other family members, worry about him & miss him terribly!
So I know it was'nt an easy time for you, or your family! They must be proud of you!

Have driven halfway across, either way, in a car...but, it was with other people, so we all took turns driving. LOL, so that really does'nt count, huh? =\

Once did have the dubious "pleasure" of getting to experience a West Coast Turn-around...
Guess I could be considered a "creme puff" & while not growing up on Easy Street, had lead a somewhat sheltered life, 'cuz it was an eye-opener in many ways!
That experience taught me, there are times that, there's more going on in a situation, than meets the untrained eye! =(

user-pic

Only from Seattle to Minneapolis, and another road trip Seattle to Los Angeles. Shoot, never gotten farther east of the Mississippi than New Orleans (by plane).

user-pic

jamm54: Cool! My brother lives in Seattle!
LMAO...did you get to experience Bourbon Street? (or "Streat" as Skinny Pete would spell it!)
Awww...you need to experience east of the Muddy Mississipp a little more! We won't bite! I promise! LOL LOL LOL

user-pic

Yes, a couple of female impersonator shows, and some great place that dispensed alcoholic slushies in every flavor off that main square in the Quarter. I've seen more outside the US, but I always thought doing Route 66 would be a fun drive actually. I've done a few road trips on the west coast, but haven't ever been on our eastern seaboard, sadly. But there's still a lot I haven't seen (Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon/4 Corners, Pike's Peak, Rushmore, Great Lakes, the Keys, NYC). Just alot of our own country I'd really like to see. I was born in the midwest, grew up Seattle.

user-pic

Okay jamm54, so since that you're in Seattle and I'm in central PA does that mean I get to see BB before you do every Sunday night? Sux to be you! Ha! Ha!

Seriously, you should come to the eastern US and experience it someday. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Somebody mentioned about having a 1961 T-Bird? I had a jet black 1961 T-Bird about 25 years ago or so. Pretty fast car, I might add, and it was gorgeous too! Drove that car to my cousin's place in Michigan (7 hour cruise) and it did quite well! I remember being worried the whole week I was there that somebody would try to steal it.

user-pic

Yep, in Seattle and 3 hours behind you guys!

My family had the '57 T-Bird hardtop convertible sports car, the '61 T-Bird and the '66 T-Bird (Thelma & Louise) car. I wasn't old to enough to drive until we had the '66 (though we bought it used). Our '61 was black with a white top.

Does it count that I dated a New Yorker for 5 years and my step-dad was a New Yorker? LOL. That's as close as I got to the east coast.

I love American history, and really want to see Arlington, the Vietnam Memorial and the new WWII Memorial (both my dads were WWII vets), plus the Smithsonian, White House, Statue of Liberty, etc, etc, etc. The west just has a different feel though I love it, the Rockies, Badlands (where I was born) and the idea of it.

user-pic

Even though the Appalachians arent as big as the Rockies, the rolling mountains are still beautiful here in central PA. A lot of the small towns and cities here have a wealth of ethnic backgrounds. Polish, Slovak, Italian, Russian, and Ukrainian (like me), among many others. the people here enjoy simple lives and are very down to earth.

A very common thing old farmers around here did a long time ago was to store their cars in their barns, only to maybe take them out on nice sunny days. When they didn't, they covered them up with tarps, blankets, whatever. then when the farmers and their wives died, their kids would have estate sales, and somebody with a little luck could stumble across these "Barn Finds". I know a guy who "found" this 1953 Olsmobile Super 88 with 20,000 miles in perfect condition. He only paid like $500.00 for it!

user-pic

My dad, the mechanic, would've been in heaven for those finds. My dad bought my Mustang from a bank. The guy who owned the car had robbed the bank that held the note on it, and in the chase, wrapped it around a telephone pole. Hence, my uncles did the bodywork and my dad dropped in the engine. It seems like I spent alot of my time as a kid in auto wrecking yards, garages, and auto parts stores. I loved the smell of primer and monkey grease.

user-pic

Did ya'll see the story at Jalopnik.com, about the "Lost Mustang Garden" in Rhode Island?
jamm54 you'd be in Mustang Heaven!! Actually, there were ALL makes & models of Classics there! We'd all be drooling over them!
Only problem is, so many are rusted beyond restoration & quite a few were stuck between over-grown trees. =(
bfn That's an incredible find! And, the stuff, dreams are made of, huh?

user-pic

BTW...Burbank Bill had posted a question, over in the "Better Call Saul: Open Thread"
He was wondering, if that was a Chrysler, Saul was starting to get in, when Walt & Jesse kidnapped him.
(I'm still stuck in the "Stone-Ages" & did'nt record it...so can't review the show. LOL!)
Also, I was distracted at the time...but, for some reason, a Lincoln/Mercury body-style, comes to mind?
What do ya'll remember?

user-pic

No, that was a Cadillac. Probably around a 1998-2000 model. My parents have one exactly like it! You would think that a high-priced lawyer like Saul would have something nicer to cruise around in, unless that was just his "work beater".

user-pic

There was once this salvage yard near me that was frikkin' enormous! This guy had a whole 5 acre section in a wooded sort of area that had nothing but Olds Cutlasses from all years. It was absolute heaven for me to go there, and I got many, many parts for my Cutlass, and real cheap too. Bad thing though: The guy that had this place was a real super mean, obnoxious bastard. Clovis was nothing compared to this jerk. He turned his "Junkyard dog" on me once just for laughs and to see my reaction! About 2 years ago he blew his wife's head off, then turned the gun on himself. Then the bank forclosed on his property, came in and crushed out every single vehicle, and hauled them all out. They then bulldozed the entire place, buildings included. Nothing left now but a 400 acre field.

user-pic

bfn Jeesh, that guy sounded like a miserable bastard. Poor wife. I guess a fitting end for an awful person, and what sounds like an awful life. I bet the pasture looks beautiful.

user-pic

I think the biggest, klunkiest car I had was a Pontiac Gran Ville in the early '90s (think it was a late '60s or '70s). It had mushrooms growing in the trunk. But the front seat was a dream: up, down, tilt - deluxo - loved that. I tried to "dress it up" with a huge gator on the dashboard (it didn't work). LOL

user-pic

EWWW!!! Mold and spores in your TRUNK? Didn't you get sick from driving that around? Bio-hazard on wheels!

Check out my new addition to my profile to the left! It's a hood emblem from like a 51 or 52 Olds 98 I saw on eBay. I think it's gorgeous, so I copied it. Other than this BB website I spend a lot of time on, I'm also looking at stuff on eBay too. Mostly at Oldsmobiles, and for deals on Cutlass parts.

user-pic

I thought that was a hood ornament. Nice! Yep, that Pontiac did smell bad, and I think there was mold on the carpet (the heater didn't work). I had it about a year and a half, caused me a lot of mechanical grief, and a killer to fill up. It might have made me sick, I don't remember (a sign?).

user-pic

jamm...maybe the gator pooted, or sumptin??? LMAO!

user-pic

I am so bummed out! The radio quit working in my Cutlass yesterday, so I yanked it out to see if I could fix it, but I'm afraid it's fried. Well, after 34 years whaddya expect, right? Guess I'll be on eBay a lot more trying to find another one, which will only take up my time from keeping up with you cool people here on the BB forum! Hope I can get one cheap....

user-pic

Oh, by the by jamm54, I'm assuming that WAS a STUFFED gator on your dash of your rolling spore farm? You must not have laws against having things like that on your dash. We do here in PA. Nothing allowed on the dash at all, except one of those dashmats, and that has to be secured down with velcro, tape, whatever. They're pretty strict here about shit like that.

user-pic

bfn My gator was about a foot long, made of very hard plastic, and heavy. He was on there, and I had another one in his mouth. No, no laws in WA then.

diksee well, the gator may have done something - who could tell in my odorama Pontiac? LOL

user-pic

I was gonna ask you jamm54, how did you put up with the odor in that car?? It had to reek mad with what shit was growing in the trunk! Maybe you should've tried to grow weed in there since it was so fertile.

I'm wondering if any of you other fine people have trouble keeping logged in on this website with your username and password? I have a helluva time. Sometimes if I'm creating a pretty lengthy post, I'll go to submit it, and it will tell me I have to log in first, when I was already logged in when I started typing the post! Piss me off! It's almost like it mysteriously logs me off at will. One day it did this, and wouldn't let me log back on till after like7 tries!

user-pic

Only problems, I'm having here is, trouble viewing everybodies replies, when a thread gets more than 200 posts, or more...
(And...knowing when to keep my darn mouth shut! =( ha ha ha!!)
scottey mentioned having the same problem, you're having here. He had an excellent idea of, writing your reply in your "Notebook" copying/pasting & then posting it here.

user-pic

diksee:Wouldn't you still have to be logged in to do that? What I'm going through might just be something I have to tolerate as a price to pay.

I post a lot of comments at my local newspaper's website on stories, letters to the editor, etc., and I never have a problem. You should see some of the shit I write in response to different things. I really piss some people off!!

user-pic

bfn I've never logged out. At first I used to log in/log out, but I stopped. I'm always logged in, and then I added the site to My Favorites. At this point, I can't remember what my password is (it's been a year), so I'd be in real trouble if I logged out now. Unless you have to share your computer, I'd stay logged in and just add the site to your favorites. Then every time you bring the site up, you're logged in to comment and don't have to go through that hassle.

I started over in MadMen originally which I love too (I was in newspaper advertising for many years). I watched the first couple of episodes of Breaking Bad when it debuted last year, but when Walt had Krazy8 in the basement, I couldn't take the suspense/freak out. Caught up with it in the rerun marathon this year, bought Season 1, and started watching Season 2 when it premiered.

user-pic

Happy Mother's Day to all you BB posters that are Moms!!

Thanks bfn!! We appreciate it!! (Sorry, I did'nt notice that post sooner!)
