Albuquerque as Breaking Bad's Home
I live in Albuquerque and you can't know if you don't live here too, the added thrills you find when you see the familiar locations of your home town in such a phenomenal show!!! Now, if we could just figure out how to get an invitation to check out the sets for the show or to watch them filming an episode. I'm sure the excitement level would be even more intensified!! We did happen upon a location they were shooting at near Albuquerque's Country Club neighborhood, but they were already finished filming and were breaking everything down and leaving when we found out about it. My 18 year old daughter is very active in drama as a senior at Sandia High School and she had a small role in Albuquerque Little Theater's "A Miracle on 34th Street" and on the way to a rehearsal for it she saw the Country Club filming crew cleaning up the set and she was so excited about it. Anyone got inside hook up on shooting locals and dates they could share because we would love to be silent observers and witnesses to the making of such a cutting edge show?!?!

I'm leaving myself a comment because I just found a spelling error in my post. It should read "Anyone got an inside hook up on shooting locales and dates they could share because we would love to be silent observers and witnesses to the making of such a cutting edge show?!?!" I need to proofread better before I post!!
Hello Holly!
I'm actually hoping to swing a fan pilgramage down there late this coming summer. I've done many of them with small groups of fans for many years. Several years of X Files as well Prison Break recently. A group of fan from all over gather to visit past shooting locations. Never once on any of them have we gotten near active shooting for any show but it doesnt mattter because when your with fellow fans visiting a spot used a year back together is big fun.
I look very foward to a Breaking Bad weekend very soon so do let me know if you're interested in joining in and all the better jot down any spots around town your recognize from season one for season two.
Hi I live in Colorado and would love to goto a Breaking Bad weekend!
Yeah, I agree it's alot of fun to see your hometown on television. Lastnight I watched the Marathon of the first season and was trying to figure out what part of town they were at. When Walt jacks with that guys BMW you could see Pudge bros Pizza ........what is that 4th and Osuna? When walt is sitting in his vehicle on the bridge, I believe thats the bridge going to Journal Center. The Dog House on Central and I think Jesse's house is somewhere down by the zoo I believe. The Junkyard of course is on broadway along with Tuco's place of business but further north, correct me if im wrong. I love this show and none of my family can get into it?! I would love to know about any future shootings, this is truly my favorite show bar none. I think all the hype about them manufacturing meth in ALB giving us a bad name is stupid, hell no one barely even knows where we're at!!
I love seeing my haunts on this excellent show. I spent a lazy Sunday driving around looking for locations from season one - something to do when the wind is blowing hurricane force. I found a bunch of sites: The scene where Walt jacks with the BMW was shot at the auto repair place on Lomas just west of San Mateo next to Sunflower market (not there when they filmed that scene) Jessie's house seemed to be near 16th and Silver in the old country club section. I'm not sure if the house has been getting a face-lift or not but from the houses across the street from it, I'm pretty sure it's right around there. I think Jesse's folk’s house is between Lomas and Central east of 12th. Looks like the White's house could be anywhere USA!
A Breaking Bad weekend would be great fun!
I have lived in Albuquerque for 28 years,25 of those I spent as a meth addict, clean 3 years now. I can say this show is spot-on with the realism and authentic way they portray how the meth life is here.I have personally known guys like Walter and Jesse.I really love this show, can't wait for next season!!
Has anyone read the book Albuquerque Breaking Bad? Is this the book that started it all? The story was awesome, this guy should be asked to write on the show it seems he lived the life of Walt with a little twist. Google Albuquerque Breaking Bad the Book, I found it online at Amazon, Barnes and Nobel and a few other online stores. I was a fast paced read that kept me turning pages.
Swatmeth
I disagree with Swatmeth. First, it's obvious Swatmeth is the author. Swatmeth has been around a long time as the person who endured these accounts, some true, some far from true. Even the author is a pen name. And that's OK. It's a fictional book. But this is perhaps the most poorly written and edited book I've ever read. Published by Publish America should be the give away. They could have, at the very least, corrected the very bad grammar. Nonetheless, the author covers the subject of methamphetamine and its troubles in detail. Just don't expect a great read. Life of Walt? I think not. The author is a recovered meth addict and needs to come clean if he deserves or wants respect in the meth world of crime fighters.
Foot-note: The TV show however, its writers and cast, is superb. Kuddos!
The difference between fiction and non fiction seems to escape you---"KUDOS?" to a TV series that is clearly fictional??
But yet you downgrade and judge someone's actual accounts of his life's struggle to regain solace after experiencing life in a way most of us can only imagine....
Admiration for a drug dealer with "self serving purposes" and driving in a mobile trailer with highly toxic chemicals through a desert depicts a great deal of "your character."
Perhaps it was an oversight but I failed to see you list of recent accomplishments in your comment. How did you come to be the astute critic that you portray??? Oh right, you are a fan of fiction...makes perfect sense. Your grammar needs a little fine tuning as well...
You stay in TV land and wait for HBO every 6 months, while the rest of us live what is known as life.
"notaluddite" (sure your not) you sound like you know me "Swatmeth" ? I thought the author was pretty clear he was a user, dealer, informant and still wears the scares of meth. I never heard a claim to "Walt", just that the stories were very close. If you go to the books website he states in the first lines that the book has nothing to do with the hit series "Breaking Bad".
Did the author say he wanted or wants respect in the meth world of crime fighters, I think not "luddie" ? You should have been medical doctor.
Sorry, not the author but have joined the books website.
ga_ny_13... thanks !
