It was in the paper, so it must be true...
I just got back today, from a visit to New Mexico. This trip was planned long before I even knew anything about Breaking Bad, because my in-laws live there. Anyway, in their local paper, there was a wire story that the new season would begin filming today, July 15. There weren't a lot of other details in the particular snippet that I read, but Pamala told me that she found a longer version of the same story which talked about how the production of this show was helping their economy.
I think that I read a comment quite a while back that Walt's school was actually called Eldorado. If that is the case, I saw the back side of this school from Montgomery Blvd. on the NE side of the city. I didn't recognize any part of it other than the name.
I did see the trashy motel where Jesse likes to hang out. It's easily visible from the interstate. (Actually, it didn't look THAT bad. I only saw it for a split second, but there were several places that looked a lot worse near where we stayed!)
I didn't see anyone famous, but most of our time was spent in other parts of the state and we were only in Albuquerque for three nights. I did see someone who kinda sorta looked like Bryan Cranston eating at La Placita in the Old Town. I wasn't able to look the guy full in the face, but he looked like Bryan in a generic sort of way. I finally discounted that it was him, because I didn't think the woman who was with this person looked enough like Bryan's wife, not that it means anything. (But again, she resembled her in a superficial way.) If it was him, I missed my chance!
Nice sleuthing, DRKellogg. I too recall reading something about filming taking place in NM...
Very exciting news cuz we all know they got to start in with production before we get the good stuff on screen.
Thanks for the head up on this DRkellogg. My Breaking Bad withdrawal, getting harder to manage each day, was quieted nicely by this tidbit.
I may even make it to the 27th :O)
Oh, one more thing...even though I didn't see anyone dressed as an arrow, the Beazer Homes folks were EVERYWHERE and they were carrying small arrows. I surmised that perhaps "someone" also noticed this and thought it would be fun to exaggerate.
You mentioned seeing the back side of the school on Montgomery Blvd BUT...most of the exterior shots of Walt's school were shot at Rio Rancho H.S. My son attended RRHS before we moved to TX.
Someone mentioned here that it was Eldorado High School, at least in the part where the Aztek is parked outside. Anyway, I remembered the name, but couldn't find any resemblance to what I saw on television, because I was only able to see the back side. I guess I was assuming that the whole thing was filmed there.

Hello out there. I live here in Albuquerque and it was shot at Rio Rancho High School. I actually got the chance to talk to Aaron Paul(Jesse Pinkman) yesterday. We have a short film festival here called The Duke City Shootout and 4 of the cast members showed up to support independent films. Bryan Cranston opened the show,Aaron Paul presented an award and
Dean Norris presented an award. The host of the event was Steve(i forget his last name)(he plays Deans partner on the show). I did the sound for it. I took a break during intermission and went outside and ran into Aaron. First of all Great guy!
They are still filming here. He was very friendly. Not your average,don't talk to me,star. It was really cool to meet this guy!! And yes the economy is getting a little boost,but it isn't helping the price of gas! :) Sony has a huge production studio here and a few others are rocking!! It was good to see these guys supporting independent films. Enough of my rambling. Keep up the good work keep making movies!!!!
I went to Rio (RRHS) and he is walking down to the concourse. The shot of them in the car later on is at the library which is up the road not too far away. ( I might be wrong, though.)
I think that it would've been really cool if they had them speak at an assembly or something. I know that there are a lot of fans who would love it. I know I would've.
