Breaking Bad Is a 10+
I'm not worried like some people that Breaking Bad not will be picked up for a second season. With all the reviews and buss that it's getting in just six episodes it will be AMC's number one moneymaker in its next season. I just hope that the new shows start back soon. Breaking Bad will put AMC on the map. I read that FX turned it down. I bet someone at FX will get fired for turning it down if not they should.
I would never do meth because I know what it does. Meth is bad in my county and a school teacher was arrested a few months ago for making meth here. But If I were in Walt's shoes, I would try to take care of my family also.
This story is about a good man that has been dealt a bad hand. He only wants to make sure that if he dies that his family is not left owning doctor bills and broke. Meth is bad but people who do it are going to buy it from someone, somewhere. I do not think the show glamorizes meth in anyway. I think it shows what it does to you. Like all the other fans I'm so disappointed that they are only one more episode left this season.

The first I had heard that it was coming to an end was after last nights episode.... I've never even heard of a series only running 7 episodes... What is the deal with this... Anyone got any ideas or explantation... from this site a couple people have mentioned the writers strike as part of the reason..... I hope this is not a sign that AMC is "pulling the plug" or anything... Could this really just be the intended length of the first season... I really don't think so... This show MUST come back... If for some reason it doesn't, I will make it my new life goal to end the careers of the AMC people responsible
Obviously this show is the shit... I will not re type all of the things previously typed by all these fans on here... but this really worries me that all of a sudden its the "season finale" out of the blue.... someone say it aint so.....
In response to why AMC only made 7 episodes. I would think it was because it is a new show and was made in a limited run to make sure it would build a fan base. Most new shows are limited to a low number of episodes to make sure the company does not waste money and only run 4 or 5 shows and then pull it off the air. It’s all about how much money the company wants to gamble on. Studios make pilot episodes all the time that never break even and lose money for them.
They have to sell the commercials to the big companies to pay the bills. This type of a show was a big risk. I’m sure AMC’s sales people had to work hard just to get the ad’s they did for the first 7 shows. But I would like to be one of the sales people for AMC now. They will be able to get more money for the commercials in the re-runs then they did for the firsts 7 shows. I think they will have many LARGE companies lining up wanting commercial time.
Next season they should have a production budget double that of the first season. You will see more big name actors making guest appearances. You will see even bigger and better special effects. And you should see 12 to 16 episodes for the second season. I hope that they get started back in the next few months so we don’t have to wait 10 months for new episodes.

I just want to say that i LOVE Breaking Bad and i don't see how they might end a show as good as this one. The show does have it's funny moments. It's just a very entertaining show that deserves way more than just one season.
Heh, so now that we're on a thread of why we love the show, Breaking Bad is up there with CSI for a number of reasons..
I'm reminded a lot of Six Feet Under with the way this show has been done. Lots of dark humor and insight on the lives of people. Can't ask for anything better. Six Feet Under certainly had a strong following, maybe Breaking Bad will come out with something similar?
But what I really love about the show is how it fuses chemistry with life. It shows that chemists are more than just scrawny people that live in closets who do weird obscure things that only other geeks would understand (at least that's the rap I've gotten as a chemistry major). I got my boyfriend hooked on the show, and I NEVER would have thought he would enjoy anything remotely chemistry related.
I've been trying to tell as many people as I can about the show, in hopes that it will help stimulate a second season. I was hopeful when I met a random guy at the pool hall that watches the show as religiously as I do. Maybe the show is catching on a lot better than I thought. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the second season :-)
I think Walt should do some of the meth he is making and let it slow down or even stop the cancer he has. Can't be any worse for him than the chemo he is taking! Talk about irony! Best show on TV! LLBB
Walt is not a bad man, but he has made bad choices.
He's a likeable character and I am rooting for him, but it is easy to lose sight of how his choices --after his life was devastated -- are devastating many other lives.
You've got the two guys who were killed. They were nasty drug dealers too, so no big woop. But what about poor Hugo, the janitor who cleaned up Walt's puke because "you've got kids to teach." Sure, he's a pothead, but did he deserve what he got (a few months in county and losing his job)?
Then there are all the meth users we are not seeing who may be overdosing on the pure, or who are becoming addicts.
It wouldn't have made for much of a show, but the simple fact is Walt should have swallowed his pride and taken the money he was offered by his college roommate and ex-lover. Then only his ego would have been hurt.
In response to the last comment. I had already thought the same thing. That Walt should have swallowed his pride and taken the money that was offered by his college roommate and ex-lover.
He was also offered a job and good insurance but turned it down. That would have been the safe choice and my first choice before make meth.
Walt is just tapping an already existing market, he didn't create this type of society, so blaming him is pointless, especially since he is truly concerned about producing a CLEAN product, unlike some people who mix their batches in bathroom tubs or toilets for quick disposal if needed, or like The Captain did by adding chili powder as a signature. I have seen a few methheads who really ruined their lives with the stuff, but I don't doubt that they would have done something similar with alcohol or any number of other means available.
Also I think it's clear that Aaron (the Jesse character) has never witnessed a true MethHead, he needs to step up his reaction to taking the drug, constant talking, repetition of statements and paranoia are just a few reactions that he should exhibit while doing the drug as opposed to when he is straight.
I met a methhead burnout once who said he could cook meth with just a couple of bucks hardware store chemicals and turn $1000 from it, he also couldn't sit still for more than 5 seconds and had very little control over his hands - body. It was truly enough for me to never want to experiment with the stuff even once.
Breaking Bad is a great show, although some of the dialog is HOEKEY and un-believable, specifically the conversation with Mr. Black reminiscing about trough-mouth..... what was that?
But, overall the acting is great all around and I hope to see a lot more of Walt and Jesse, If Walt's cancer goes into remission, what will happen with his new career and all the money he's making.
It's not hard to see a man who has the brains but not the Good Breaks, Break Bad like this, it happens every day. Great Storey-telling!!!!
