Please Be Careful...

I cannot say enough great things about this show. I come from the meth and marijuana capital of Canada. You have managed to grab the attention of a 'lot' of people here I thought would never own a TV. Here are some of of our thoughts:

1. The relationship between Bryan and Aaron is awesome and what you would expect. Please expand, and don't have anyone busted too soon; we like them together and splitting them up should be the Season 2 finale.

2. Walt needs to start smoking marijuana. He has cancer and rad-pacs; hello!? Anyone there ever had radiation nausea?

3. Someone buy them a friggin' Police Scanner for heavens sake!

4. Please be careful. Too many sub-plots will mess this up. Everyone in this show (so far) is a victim of something, so its time to show some of their victees.

Cheers!

1. Don't worry, everyone knows the odd couple have to stick together or the show would be a random mini-series like the wire. The show would loose consistency from season to season if you don't center it around familiar characters. The sopranos were able to manipulate the audience's judgments on gruesome illegal acts by simply showing the scenerio in various perspectives that surrounded characters we understand at a deeper level than criminal.

The close-calls will always be there making you guess the next event. Law Enforcement was emphasized pretty strongly which was a good method of creating the emotional bond between the audience and our favorite clandestine chemists. The anxiety was there. The introduction of Tucco was brilliant and set a great direction for the course of the show(with many options). Although I am a huge fan of Tucco and the way he fits into walt and jessie's operation is pretty funny. Bottom line is that there are many ways to keep jessie and walt together that will not compromise the realistic storyline.

2. No I wouldnt say that considering its lung cancer and pot does have carcinagins, Walt should probably just eat it or vaporize it, only should smoke it if he needs immediate relief or can't hold down special brownies. Maybe at first try the synthetic thc pill marinol i believe..that would be a good moral issue to adress similar to the cuban cigars,,,where do you draw the line? In most states you can only legally treat your chronic illness with a gelatin-pill based medication containing the same active ingrediant. Maybe they can show how difficult it is to swallow so many pills, and the medicinal MJ reduces naseau, increases apetite..then medications become easier to stomach

3. Maybe counter-survelience is something that can be incorperated to the new season. Not just for the fuzz, but even worse...Rivals, Mexican Superlabs that supply a large percentage of American meth usually pumps in massive amounts of lower quality...this means cartels play a role in the meth trade these days, its not just a farm town drug (especially with the new laws on psuedo), I assume major motorcycle "clubs" may still play a tremendous role in the trade, and some competition that should not be ignored is the Asian crime syndicates...the purest, most expensive, and increasingly available in the states, ice, shabu, yaba..the often pure crystal thats taking over the old golden triangle...leaving southeast asia, the pacific islands, hawaii and now even the west coast U.S. flooded with meth. I can see a ton of scenarios where jessie and walt can be easily once again way in over their head

4. The sub-plots seem to be blurring the lines of right and wrong. Its getting harder to distinguish what character will take what action on a given situation. At this point, the entire cast could even go into the business if the writers could put it together right. I think its important to respect the creativity of the show thus far. The aspect of the show that makes it of such a high quality is the way a particular theme comes full circle. This is not just a mindless show thats all about cool and f'd up stuff. Its important to analyze the show heavily and even watch episodes again to be aware of its quality. Try not to worry about sub-plots so much, the intended purpose will come together in a much more relevant way than you would guess. From a filmmaker's standpoint the show is already there. If the show could incorporate more of the mysterious underground of crime and how the different levels interact. How the different kind and level criminals are accepted in society, how they behave, and if they aslo are in a situation we can sympathize with.

Didn't mean to rant, but this show has the potential to really be up there with the soprano's...I have so many ideas I dont see how the show could go down from here...I think there should be a better forum/discussion for the 2nd season to help get the creative juices flowing and get these guys on set as soon as possible

Okay, so I know this is going to be off the subject here, but I didn't know how to make a new topic (sorry).

There was an episode of Breaking Bad, and I cannot remember which one it was, but Walt, Walt Jr., and Skylar were all in some sort of clothing/department store. There were some kids that were Walt Jr.'s age in the store making fun of him and snickering and such. I remember my wife and I got pissed off at that, and while very realistic, sadly, it can be enraging for parents and even devastating to a young person like that.

I just wanted to comment on it because it was a very short lived moment in one of the episodes, but very real and powerful, and my wife and I cheered Walt as he kicked those kids down a few pegs. Who wouldn't do the same in Walt's shoes, or even Skylar's, in that moment? We have a young son and both agreed that we would have also come to the defense of our child in that sort of situation.

Oh, and to Clayton, thank you for the update and I will look for any announcements on the site that mention an upcoming DVD box set!

@bird666: For future reference, you can initiate your own Talk topic using the tool at the upper-right hand corner of the main BB Talk page that says "Start Talking!"

To address your topic, that scene was in the Pilot, and was one of my favorites as well. I think it's really the first instance of Walt starting to "break bad"--in my mind at least.
