Hank: Snitch or Sneak?

There is a reason why Hank is a DEA agent and his main focus is on meth. This is not just a coincidence. The question is, what will Hank do once he realizes how involved Walt is in the meth scene? I think Hank will discover that Walt was responsible for the missing chemistry lab supplies, then it snowballs from there and he finds out how involved Walt really is.

Does Hank look the other way? After all, Walt's dying and won't be around long. (not likely) Will Hank arrest him on the spot? It is his job to protect and serve. Or will he become involved? Once he sees how well Walt and Jesse are doing, he may want a piece of the pie.

We all know Hank isn't a saint, considering he accepted illegal cuban cigars for doing a favor for somebody else, and he even laughed it off when he found out Walt is smoking pot. So it seems he doesn't care about the little things if nobody is getting hurt. So, how will he respond to the fact Walt is becoming a meth kingpin? It will happen and I would imagine it will happen early or mid-way through next season. So do you agree? I'd love to hear everyone's take on this.

I'll bite.

I think Hank does find out and as you said, looks the other way. It's a subtle thing, but the more people are around (or if he wants to impress someone) the louder Hank gets. When he's just with his family, although he is a little crass, there's not as much obvious posturing. If Walt offered to "give" Tuco to Hank after he's finished making money, Hank would pretty much do anything to make it happen.

It would definitely make Hank look like a big guy with his peers to bring down someone like Tuco. Maybe his wife would even be upstaged.

I think Hank will never guess that Walt is cooking Meth. He already thinks he's a wimp. Plus, He's so cocky that he'll never suspect Walt. Who would think a guy, dying of lung cancer, would start cooking meth. Only way I see him catching him is if he pretty much walks in on him when he's cooking. Then he may give him a break cause Hank's wife is a thief and Walt and his wife know about it.

I think Hank cares for Walt much more than the other way around and Walt will use it to his advantage. Walt has bluffed Hank more than once already and come out on top, but even at that, Hank still loves him.

I do see this causing some conflict between Hank and his partner, Gomez. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

As an aside, anybody watch the "48 Hours Mystery" last night? It's a peek into the mind of a real life good guy gone bad. I just thought it was similar to what's going on with Walt on some levels.

I think the answer lies in the statement made by ballsdeep in refering to Hank: "It is his job to protect and serve." I don't think Hank knows the real meaning of that and views that doctrine more as "to control and dominate". If this were real life I'd think Hank would turn and want a piece of the pie.

I think Walters Jr. become suspicious and follows his dad. When he finds out what is going on then he turns to Uncle Hank. There may even be scenes where the Walter Jr. is caught in the middle of the drug scene and may end up killing a drug dealer to protect his dad. I think Walter whole family will be in danger. The show needs to show what can go wrong with this situation. As far as Hank I think he is already involved with crime. His wife is a thief and he is a bad cop.

I also wonder what was up with the friends where Walter is suppose to be getting the money for his treatment. Did Walter have a flling with the wife?
