Breaking Bad Episode III
I think the third Episode is the first time we really see the emotional toll that Walt's decisions are taking on him. In the first two episodes, the consequences of his actions seemed almost slapstick--a body falls through a tub, an RV crashes into a ditch. But now I think we see that he is truly concerned his actions are costing him
There's a definitive split between what Walt does and how he feels about doing it. Killing Krazy 8, for example: I think there is little argument that it needed to be done. And yet when it's finished, all Walt can say is "I'm sorry." What once seemed like dark comedy is starting to set in as cold reality. Walt has chosen this path, and he must accept it, warts and all.
Perhaps he is in the wrong business--but I think at this point, he's in too deep.
What did you guys think about third episode?

Talk about a slippery slope. My heart goes out to the guy even as I cringe.
The third episode was absolutely amazing, heartbreaking, and the strongest yet. The flashback sequence that takes place while Walter and Jessie were cleaning up the mess of the botched disposal was perfect. Walter seemed to be regaining some reason. He knows his actions are wrong. Humanity is more than just the sum of its chemistry.
I could say so much more but I think I'll leave it at that. Now I'm just really curious as to where this series is going to go, because an episode like this I pictured for a season finale.
Deeper into the rabbit hole! Daym!!!
well. i think the series is going great. its suspensful, and it makes you want more.
i think the third episode was great. it showed so much more emotion from both jessie and walter.
i want to see how the series is going to continue.
Does kind of make me want to keep watching to see where it's going to go. Intense situations. Lotta great cliffhangers there Vince. Has Holly popped up in any episodes yet?
Hope the writer's strike hasn't caused a delay in future episodes.
The image quality is terrible though. The fact I have to zoom in to a standard frame makes for a very soft picture. Shame AMC doesn't have any HD channels. It's also annoying that they have to bleep swear words and blur out body parts. It really pops you out of the story when that happens. I know there's nothing anyone can do about it right now but I just had to express my frustration since the show is so engrossing. The DVD will be better I'm sure.
One question I had when I was watching: was Krazy 8 ever telling the truth? I mean, it was such a touching moment the two shared, only to be literally crushed.
Obviously, Krazy 8 was going to kill Walt. But I can't help but wonder if he was showing moments of honesty through all the lies.
I thought this episode was one of the best hours of television ever. I was literally on the edge of my seat and hanging on every word. The entire sequence with Walter and Krazy 8 was sheer brilliance, with Walter discovering the missing piece of the plate, and subsequently killing Krazy 8. I don't remember the last time I was this emotionally involved in a tv show. I could literally feel Walter's anguish at the decision he had to make, and the pain he felt when, right before our eyes, he became a killer. I even felt bad for Krazy 8. You know a show is good when it can make you feel sympathy for a murdering drug dealer! It will be a crime if this show is not nominated for some kind of award. It is, simply put, some of the absolute best writing and acting on television right now. Way to go, Vince!
Wow. This was a very good episode. The interaction between Hank and Krazy 8 was pretty heartfelt. I almost believed that Hank was going to let him go and then somehow become business partners with him instead of Jessie. I said “Oh Shit!” out loud when I saw he was missing that last jagged piece of the plate and knew then that Krazy 8 had to go. It was a very intense death scene. Walter is deep in the shit now. I will have to rewatch the episode again but when Hank and his partner were out in the desert that was Krazy 8’s car they found right? Then Hank says something to effect of “Somebody offed our snitch?” so was Krazy 8 an informant for the DEA?
@RCH2288: re "croaked our snitch," that was certainly my interpretation of that scene. I'm dying to find out if we're right. Hopefully they'll elaborate on this plot point in future episodes, because it sure would be nice to know for sure that Jesse didn't rat out Emilio (and is thus capable of ratting out Walt)
Awesome episode, awesome series. Everything is starting to un-ravel a bit in Hank's life, not only his decsion to Break Bad, but also in regards to his health.
Yeah, the snitch comment made when they found the Green car had me wondering who the snitch was. It must have been the first guy who got "offed", he seemed a bit more stupid and giving in, Krazy 8 was probably the brains behind operations, using his degree and such to run a "smooth organization"
The sister-in-law, she is really a snoop and I wonder if she will be the one who finds out about Walt to protect her sister. She is a piece of work and I think she has some issues, as well as being a kleptomaniac.
I didn't really see Hank limp around after he took a couple of stabs to the leg by Krazy 8. When he walked into the house to talk to Skyler, no limp at all. Was he dreaming this?
What did Walt do with the body? Did he get the plastic tote and load up his vehicle to dump this somewhere?
Love the show, can't wait till Episode 4!
@stonesrock: We actually are running a poll to see who you think will first discover Walt's secret. Check it out!

As always the acting was great. The dilemma was intense and I could relate so much to it.
Being the same age I might just go trough the same steps and maybe kill if stuck in that situation.
Good script, intense situation equals good TV.
I would even go as far as HBO did not deserve you LOL
@stonerock. Yeah, maybe it was Emilio who was the snitch. How else would he have made bail so fast after he got busted unless he cut some kind of deal. When he and Krazy 8 (Domingo...LOL) went out to see Walts operation, I'm sure it was with the intent to take his batch and then kill him, so he probaby wasn't a snitch with good intentions.
Did anyone else think that the tweaked out meth addict prostitute in this episode looked alot like Courtney Cox?? Or was that just me?
@RCH2288 and stonerock: I don't think the snitch could have been Emilio. If you remember the scene right before the bust, Hank and Gomez make a bet as to whether or not the man in the house will be hispanic. Then they say his name over the radio and settle the bet. If Emilio had been the snitch, they never would have made the bet in the first place because they would have known who was in the house.
@clayton nueman. It might be possible that Emilio became their snitch after they busted him. Although it would probably take someone longer than one day to process and become a C.I. in real life. But in TV shows sometimes we have to suspend real belief in order to make it work. Kind of like how on CSI every crime is solved in one hour.....LOL
I am hoping more that it was Krazy 8 instead of Emilio but I guess we'll soon find out.
@RCH2288: Ah, but you see. They already had the C.I. before they busted the house. That was the whole reason for the bust is that the snitch told Hank and Gomez where to go.
But you bring up an interesting point: Maybe there are two snitches, and the reason Emilio was let out so soon was because he turned--possibly because Krazy 8 was already a snitch too...
Like you said, guess we'll have to wait to find out...

@clayton neuman.
Ahh...I see what you are saying now. Hank had a snitch for the first bust which is how they knew they were looking for Captain Cook. but if that was the case wouldn't Krazy 8 know that he was also going to be busting his cousin Emilio in the drug raid?
Just thoughts rattling around in my head. I love this show as well!!
Exactly. That makes Krazy even more of a villain, because he was willing to bust his own cousin to save his hide. Then when Emilio was released, Krazy could have planted the idea that the snitch was Jesse just to throw him off the trail, and at the same time "take care" of a nuisance junkie....
Sorta makes you feel less sorry for him, huh?
While I'm rarely at a loss for words I really can't find more to day today than WOW!
Bryan Cranston is utterly fantastic. I can't take my eyes off the man!
Vince my friend - you're not still computer phobic are you dear man... you gotta be savy enough to be coming here and be reading this stuff - this is without a doubt some of your BEST stuff ever.
I am so proud and happy for you!
Time to send you a new frog.
as said many times, great show.... as for the snitch, i believe they said in the first episode the snitch WAS captain cook which is jessie, i mean even domingo said it, "your partner has a big mouth." just my thoughts. as for the dungeon conversation between walt and domingo, it was intense, but the whole plate thing was kinda off, it didn't even seem like he looked in the trash as he threw out the can, so what sparked his curiosity?
@34kingb4d
Hank and his partner made a bet that the person they were looking for in the first bust had a nickname by the name of Captain Cook. Hanks partner said that is the nickname a White Boy would use. Hank said it belonged to a Mexican. When they raided the place they found Emilio. If Jesse was the snitch then they wouldn't have been looking for Captain Cook and Jesse wouldn't have been crawling out a window and running away.
As to what sparked Hanks curiousity about the plate, I think he was having some sort of scientist vision based on his flashbacks about everything equaling up to 100%. When he saw that shard missing he knew there was a reason for it. Plus he is a smart guy. Just my thoughts.
When Jessie, Emilio, and Krazy 8 showed up at the RV in the first episode to buy meth from Walter, Emilio recognized Walter and said "He was there when I got busted. He's with the DEA". If Emilio was the snitch, wouldn't he have known that Walter wasn't with the DEA? Unless he was just trying to cover himself.
To RCH2288: I don't know if the hooker was Courtney Cox or not (if so, great make-up job!). All I know is that watching their sex scene was more gross than anything I've seen in the series thus far. Eeeeewww!
PS: That motel is the PERFECT one to use for that scene! It really is in a bad neighborhood, although whenever I've driven by in the past, I didn't see a colorful cast of hoodlums hanging out in the doorways. Just a ABQ note of interest: The mayor here, Martin Chavez, is sort of a neat freak. We have legislation that allows the city to take property that has been abandoned or ill-used. Most of the really crappy motels here have succumbed to this, so I'm glad there was still a good one for them to film at!
Also, what you said about everything totaling 100% sounds pretty smart. That didn't occur to me when I was also wondering how he really noticed a shard might have been missing.
Lovin' this series, hate that it will end someday. Missed it last week (football, schmootball!).

Was the snitch Krazy 8 or his cousin? I do love this show. I think Bryan Cranston is absolutely brilliant. I hate the Emmy's, GG and the SAG's b/c they never get it right so I don't expect them to give Bryan one but he so deserves it, even this early in the game.
And...did Skylar's sister walk out of the store with those shoes! Funny. Love the show and so glad there is forum to talk it.

I didn't get a chance to watch episode 3 on Sunday night. When will it be available to view on line? (I know it's on again on Wednesday night, but I want to watch it now!)
@tvdiva1: We've been having the snitch discussion above. The consensus seems to be that we think the snitch is either Emilio or Krazy 8, though I have my doubts about Emilio because of the bet Hank and Gomez make in the pilot about who is inside the house cooking....
@flyons: The episodes are available on iTunes and Unbox. They're also available On Demand through your cable provider, and as you said, we're replaying the first three episodes tonight (Wed. 2/12).
I love all three episodes but in Episode 3 Walter has entered the point of no return. With a good lawyer he could have gotten off with 5 years probation for his crimes but since his premeditated murder of Crazy 8 there's no turning back. My guess is that Walt buried Crazy 8 somewhere on the West Mesa or out east by Clines Corners. The closing scene where Walt walks into the bedroom with Skyler is gut wrenching. Regardless Episode 3 was freaking awesome.
BTW: People be sure enter those contests for the coins and mini-rv, I won a coin and it's in the mail! How freaking cool is that!!! See you BB Freaks soon!

lol wouldnt it be funny if in the end walter goes to the doctor and have him tell walter that he made a mistake about the cancer, it was just a inopertal groth or something like that.
but if that happens i bet walter will be like hard core and pimps out the doc to do his bidding with prescription medication that would go hand in hand with is chemist background.

I can't get enough of this show. Finally something original and compelling. Most shows on the air are very formulaic. Not BB. The dialogue, the acting, the subject matter is refreshing, albeit disturbing at the same time. But that's what I love, it makes you think. We'd like to think we'd never go that far but going over the edge isn't all that inconceivable. Mix together the right, or wrong, circumstances and see where you end up.
Great show! Great cast! Keep 'em coming.
Check out this video. It's a true story about a man by the name of Randy Pausch dying of cancer. It's the flip side of the charater on Breaking Bad. Here is the link.

You have to love the dynamic development between Mr White and Jesse. Could this be the start of a faux father/son relationship. I dont think the relationship between them can survive episode 5 unless it does morph into some kind of a surrealistic "Father Knows Best" alliance, do you?
Looks like just about everything I had to say has been touched on. The pacing of this show is absolutely phenomenal, can you guys believe how much has happened in just three episodes? I liked how episode 3 narrowed the scope a bit, though. The microscope was really on Walter throughout the whole episode, and oh how he squirmed. The extended scene of Walter and Crazy 8 getting to know each other while contemplating how to kill one another just below the surface was some of the best television I've ever seen. And, as stated, the moment with the plate was just mindblowing. The jagged shard missing from the plate has become the enduring image of this show for me so far.
Can't wait to see what happens in Episode 4...I'm tempted to watch it tonight, but going to have to hold out to watch it On Demand in HD.
Where can I see episode 3? Help me..please.. I'm desperate!
@LauraDenise: The episodes are available On Demand through your cable provider. You can also download them on iTunes or Unbox (Amazon.com's download service)
Bryan, you will get an Emmy from this show!
When he goes into the basement to kill Crazy 8, in his mind; he almost thinks of it as self defense;
because of the missing plate piece.
But then it hits him that he is about to kill another
human being. He just stands there for a moment.
You can see the torment on his face as that
single tear drops from his eye. He is crying for
himself (diagnosis) or the job in front of him
(killing this man) or the whole mess of it all,
or all three. I used to watch Brothers and Sisters
on Sunday nights, and even flipped over to it on
a commercial break, but it doesn't matter now, because I realized it was just another typical
show, so I flipped back and I will not flip over to
anything else when BB is on! 150% better than
anything else on.
Excellent acting Bryan.
Kudo's to the writers too.
Fan-Fram-Tastic!!
