A Great New Series on AMC?
I thought AMC only aired old movies. I stopped in to set the DVR to tape The Godfather and saw a preview for this.
I saw episode 4 and it blew me away! I just snarfed up episodes 1 and 2 online and am desperately searching for episode 3 "On Demand".
I wonder how many people know about this great show? I'm totally smitten and addicted.

What's your cable provider? Both episodes 3 and 4 should be available On Demand. If for some reason you can't find them, let me know and I'll look into it.
You can also download episodes on iTunes and Unbox (Amazon.com's download service.)
Welcome to the Breaking Bad Family Laura.
I too love this show and after it airs each Sunday find myself counting the days till the following Sunday. The only other show that gives me that great feeling of anticipation week to week is "The Sheild"
This is definitely more cutting edge than Weeds I would say

I got caught up on this show and am waiting for episode 4 on Sunday. It was the previews that got me. Had no idea what this show was about, but it's pretty good. Hey, how about the brother in law?! This guy is just downright entertaining. He's out on a bust and has bad guys hauled up against the wall and he's talking on the cell with the wife who's a shoplifter.
And I didn't trust Krazy one bit -- we all know this guy has no morals or priniciples and he will kill Walter. Well, his actions from the beginning put him in a no-win situation where it was him and his family dead or Emillio. he had no other alternative but to get this guy. I didn't watch that scene, nor the scene with them getting rid of remains: grossssss.
For me, the brother-in-law adds some humor into this show, and I just crack up whenever he has scenes.

I look forward to each and every new episode of Breaking Bad both due to its equal blend of realism and hilarity! I suposse it's due to the shear horror of the devastating effects of crystal meth blended with the enlightened awareness of those talented enough to want to make a difference to do exactly that.
As a parent of a teenager who became schizophrenic, as well as being a Registered Psychiatric Nurse myself, I know all too well the ravages of crystal meth first hand. Thank you AMC and the cast and crew for doing such and terrific job portraying the realities of the world and consequences of this deadly drug with humor and humility! Emmys all around!

This show is great! I previewed it on a dish network free preview and now I am going to have to upgrade my package to ensure I still get it. I am a recovered meth addict and don't find it to promote meth at all. It is the only weefly series that I watch. I am very impressed by the real life feeling of the series.
And the quality hasn't diminished at all... episode 5 was great, although the 1st episode will always be my favorite.
Breaking Bad gives me a deeper understanding of addiction and what it must be like to be high... the pull of fast money, and why people get mixed up in it. I never really understood as well before this show.
Instead of making it glamorous, however, the grim circumstances and gritty scenes drive home the lessons like no health lecture could ever do.
The misery of the cold meds provider from episode 5, with red phosphorus burning his eyes as he watched the camper speed away through the desert... I could feel his despair!
This show also shines past cultural identification with addiction like HBO's "The Corner" that, while expertly done, was a series that Midwestern and Appalachian viewers couldn't identify with.
Breaking Bad transcends stereotypes, culture, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and even religion. It's a series we can ALL identify with.
Addiction- it is a fact of life that we all are addicted to something. I used to be hooked on alcohol and cigarettes, now it's vegetables, exercise, and at least 8 hours of sleep every night. My job is to try and help people break bad habits and crystal meth and diet pills seem to be the most abused drugs these days. It seems to be a hard habit to quit. I'm glad it wasn't around when I was using. There are a few success stories- one client was heavy into meth, cooking it himself, for 5 years in the late 90's. He has been clean now for 8 years, bar a couple of relapses. The thing is, he was perceptive enough to see the damage and really wanted to leave it behind. He's not a client anymore, but calls me up after every episode of BB to point out small mistakes and tell me what a good show it is overall. People in recovery who have a few brain cells left realize how important and pertinent this program is. It may just be the most "real" thing on television right now.
Another point that some of y'all have touched on is the insane amount of tax-free money that can be made from producing and distributing illegal drugs. I've had rehab clients who were court-ordered to see me who didn't even sample their own produce. (Or at least they "pissed clean", so I had to take them at their word) Sure, it's rare, but you do run into people now and then who grow pot, or cook up crystal and crack, but don't partake. They are just in it for the money. Money might just be the strongest addiction of all- the more you get, the more you want. As for drugs, I don't propose Legalization, but if everyone "Just said NO", or if there wasn't such a huge black market trade going on, then Hank and I would have to find another line of work!
I just watched tonight's episode (March 2nd) and I understand Walt's transformation because I'm currently battling breast cancer. I'm in my 30s..nonsmoker, no drugs, exercise, and a normal woman who has followed the rules.... so far.
I've got 2 kids, a house,a full time job, a college degree, and a cat.
My husband had to go out and get another full time job.. so I could get treatment without us losing our house. We've spent the last 6 months trying to survive this in more ways than one.
I'm angry that the insurance industry gets to make the rules and prosper while EACH file they shuffle is someone's life..
I pass by crack whores on the street and think "Why not that bitch? She threw her life away... she didn't stay up all night studying.. she did what she wanted."
The first thing I said when the Dr. told me I had Cancer, was " Well if I'd known this was coming..I could've had alot more fun."
Like Bryan Cranston's character, I have a new attitude. I don't care so much about the rules.. about staying quiet or accepting injustices. I'm going on ahead towards reaching my dreams.. why not? What have I really got to lose?
