Getting Hooked

I just found out about the show this morning and loved the first two episodes online.

I keep wondering why I like this show better than Weeds, which has some parallels. I found Nancy Botwin's actions so despicable that I couldn't watch more than the first six episode or so. But are Walter White's actions much better? Is it because he's a man? Or maybe Cranston and the writers just make White more intriguing and likable?

@Mr. Bruno: We did an interview with Vince Gilligan in which he addressed the parallels with Weeds. He says that the main difference between the two, in his opinion, is that BB is more of a character study. So, to answer your question, I would say that it is very possible the reason you're "hooked" is that you are in fact more propelled by Walt as a character, Cranston as an actor. I also think this show has so much more depth, as opposed to Weeds which is really just a comedy.
