Win a Winnebago (Toy Model): Week II

winnebagosmall.JPG

Here's your chance to be the proud owner of a toy-sized version of Walt's Winnebago. Tell us. Who do you think is getting the better deal? Walt or Jesse?

Once again, we'll randomly pick a winner from the answers and award a replica of the RV from the show.

We're giving away a miniature model every week, so be sure to check back for next week's question. Find out after the jump who our lucky winner was last week.

I would think cooking is less dangerous that dealing with buyer. Walt has the better deal

default userpic

I agree Walt knows whats going to happen mixing chemicals, Jesse never knows what he will run into meeting a tweeker.

default userpic

Jesse has the better deal because he can count on the wisdom and experience of Walt. As the first episode showed us, Walt revived Jesse's "business."

default userpic

i believe they are both pretty much are getting an even deal.. walt will get the money from the product and give that income to his family before (hopefully) he eventually dies from the lung cancer. As for jesse, he gets his buisness back for the mean time and stays outta jail then after walt "dies" jesse wont have that glass quality product and most likely will fall along with it.. yes? no? mabey? ehh just my thoughts =]

i love the concept of this show!

default userpic

I actually think to a greater extent Walt is getting the better deal. The chance to face death, have no reservation concerning anything he does, motivated by the desire to help his family survive after his death.

default userpic

Since last week's question went along with the episode that aired, I'll base my answer on the "coin-toss deal" between Walt and Jesse.
In that situation I'd take Jesse's end of the bargain any day! Ok, yes he picked the wrong container to melt the body, but the guy was dead already. Its the easier of the two chores.
Walt's got to kill a living breathing human being. I think its going to take a little bit more than a bathtub filled with acid to ease the guilt!
Just my opinion.

default userpic

Alright here is what I'm thinking --

Walt never approaches Jesse.

Jesse never ends up taking Crazy 8 and his cousin out to the desert where they see Walt and suspect Jesse is league with the DEA.

No one gets killed.

Jesse's house remains OK.

Seems like they have both got the worse of the deal.

default userpic

Walter definitely has the better end of the stick. He'll be dead in a year or two...

default userpic

Who has the better deal? Hmm...If Walter and Jesse should get caught making and distrubuting drugs, Walter would be better off because of his lung cancer sentence. But I really don't feel like one person is getting a better deal than the other. Jesse and Walter both bring something to the equation and neither would be as successful in the business alone. They compliment each other very well.

default userpic

i think jesse has the better deal because before walter came along jesses meth was garbage now he is selling "art work", so the guy is going to profit a ton more money than he was making before.

default userpic

oh yea not to mention walt is going to be dead in a few years dew to his lung cancer, and jesse can take over cooking when walt dies because he will learn the recipe by then. jesse has the better end of the stick absolutely..

default userpic

Walter, by choice, is getting the short end of the stick. He is risking more than just going to jail, he could lose his family. If it wasn't for Walt, Jesse would be in jail so he's on borrowed time anyway.

default userpic

Jesse has the better deal. He was already involved in the drug business.

default userpic

On the coin toss situation I would have to say Walt got the better end of the deal. Sure, he has to resnuff a guy they already thought snuffed but when that acid burnt through the floor and the bath tub and the remainder of the dead guy came raining down on the hallway of Jessie's house, who do you think will be stuck cleaning up that goopy gross mess? Lets recall who called 'heads' again.

default userpic

i would think it would be alot easier to get rid of a body that is already dead then take the life of someone who is still alive, especially since jesse smokes meth, which makes things easier to justify in your mind, because you are paranoid and you will do anything to protect yourself,no matter what, now walt,on the other hand, now has to face this,he's not a killer but crazy 8 is,crazy 8 is a meth head himself/distributor and needs to understand,he would be saving alot of peoples lives if he was just to do it,i'm not saying he has to become charles bronson, but his family would be in danger after he is gone,so he has no choice, you ever notice when meth labs get busted, you never see a bunch of people get arrested, its because they have no friends, everyone is there enemy, they think everyone is out to get them, sooooooooo walt needs to do whats best and honor the coin toss and finish him off,in fact to make it less suspicious he should just feed him meth in those ham sandwiches until he od's,of course crazy 8 will feel like superman and try to bust out,but really,do you think anyone can bust out from that lock around his neck?!?!?!?!

default userpic

I would think that despite the underlying fact that he's going to die, Walt is getting the better deal. He treats Jesse like an employee and a total subservient, despite the fact that they're both equally lost.

Yes, Jesse makes some errors in judgment, but I don't see a partnership between the two of them, I see a dictatorship. I agree with Jesse--why does his house automatically become the one that assumes all the risk?

I understand Walt is the one who is risking his family, but they're in this together! I think Jesse sums it up best in the opening scene where after Walt stops dictating for three seconds he asks, "Oh, I can speak now?"

If Skyler needs the climb out of Walt's ass, Walt needs to climb out of Jesse's...

default userpic

Regarding the coin toss, Jesse definately got the better deal. His mantra of "it's just meet, it's just meet" was essentially true at that point. His job was unpleasant, but hardly akin to killing a man. As far as the entire arrangement, depending on how it works out, Jesse is getting the better deal. Most drug criminals are caught because of the stupid things dealers and users do, weather they are high or not. It is deffinately made worse by the cavalier attitude of youth. If drug criminals would just think through thier actions the way Walt does they might have a better chance of getting rich and not going to jail. For Jesse, Walt is a protector. For Walt Jesse is a liability.

user-pic

Lacking the time that Jesse does, Walter has the better deal in everything the pair does because even if he ends up in jail or in trouble, he will die from lung cancer. Chemotherapy does not save everyone. He could also try proton therapy, though the "inoperable" clause (if not his judgment) would still be his downfall.

Due to age, Walter also has the experience that Jesse lacks. In "Pilot" we learn that Jesse failed Walter's chemistry class, thus in the very end (after Walter's death) this will be his downfall, for he cannot make the same "three inch" crystal methamphetamine again. Jesse needs to learn his craft before it is too late.

user-pic

Thats an easy one.
No matter what happens Jesse is getting the better deal because he will live where as Walts life is coming to an end.

Perhaps in the long run Walts break will pick Jesse up and push him up into a better place?

default userpic

Walt is getting the better deal, but they are both benefitting from the relationship.

Walt's eyes are opening to the world around him. He reminds me of Kevin Spacey's character in America Beauty - A guy blinded by his own mediocrity, but finding there is so much more to living that he wants to explode in every way (hence the aggressive sex with his wife).

Jesse has someone evaluating his life, and we're already seeing that he wants Walt's approval.

I absolutely crave more from this show, and anticipate each episode like nothing I've experienced from television in a long, long time.

Thanks,

Robert

Jesse has the better deal. Walter has to juggle different worlds with different values. Jesse is at home and movin' up in his world.

default userpic

All there is to be said is that Walt has nothing to lose. Even if he goes to jail, he's dead soon enough. And if things work out with the meth, he'll have plenty of money stashed for his family by the time he does die.
Either way, he won't have to live with any of his decisions for very long.

BTW... Awesome Show!!!

user-pic

It is a catch 22 for both of them. With the introduction of the two dealers and death of one of them, it's just that much more complicated for both Walter and Jesse to extricate themselves from this situation unscathed. The people holding the cards are the other characters, either known or unknown at this time.

While I'm hoping for the best, the reality is that Walter still dies and Jesse will probably be killed by someone.

Oh and the person who said Jesse wanted approval was dead on!

user-pic

Walt is getting the better deal. Poor Jesse is stuck working with his teacher. Everything Walt does surprises Jesse more and more. The poor kid is being traumatized.

default userpic

I believe it's Jesse.

default userpic

@Peril: I would hardly say Jesse is moving up. I have to agree with iBatman, Jesse's got a guy who can cook good meth, yes, but who has absolutely no idea how the play the game (as they would say in The Wire). His two connections to the drug ring are either locked in his basement or making a big, goopy, bloody mess in his house. He's got Walt giving him grief at every turn....eesh, sounds to me like Jesse got the short end of the stick.

Jesse

Gotta love the 1970's Winnebego... Is there a place I can buy one for my dad? He is not long for this world but he sure loves this show. He was a sound engineer in TV for 40 plus years and cant believe the things the writers get away with, but he loves it!

default userpic

@JPB2: Erm, you wanna buy the real Winnebago or the toy one? As far as a real Winnebago, I might suggest looking in the Classified ads or perhaps your local used car lot. Avoid the salesman in the plaid suit, however.

If you want a toy one, which now that I think about it is probably what you were asking, unfortunately we only have a limited number for this contest. But we'll be asking questions every week, so keep logging on and maybe you'll get lucky!

user-pic

Clayton,
Yeah I wanted the model... heheeee.... I dont think a full size would fit in my drive anyway. It is best to stay away from plaid suits at all times anyway. Thanks for the job your doing moderating here.

default userpic

@JPB2: Not at all--keep posting!

default userpic

Walt has more to lose. His intensions of gaining wealth for his family's future is admirable, but the reality is that he would lose EVERYTHING if caught. Jesse is just a low-life meth dealer / addict, so he has the better deal if they pull it off.

default userpic

I, too, thought the "who has the best deal" question was referring to the coin toss in Episode 2 rather than Walt & Jesse's entire relationship.

Jesse seems to think he has the best deal since he chooses to dissolve Emilio's body without too much hesitation, but because he didn't follow instructions and caused the huge mess downstairs, Walt had to help him clean it up.

So considering that, does Walt just have to finish off Krazy 8 or both kill him AND dispose of the body? It seems Jesse should have to help in at least part of one or the other considering Walt's help cleaning up the acid bath fiasco.

Personally, I don't think Walt has it in him to kill Krazy 8, but letting him go would be impossible (and a rather quick end to the series). I think Krazy 8 will be removed from the picture, but it will be because of some weird, random accident rather than something intentional.

default userpic

@eshugh: The question is open-ended, and of course there are no wrong answers. Interpret and answer it in as many different ways as you can think of!

IMHO, I would disagree that Jesse thinks he has the best deal. Look back at his monologue. He thinks Walt is dumping all the problems on him, and I might tend to agree.

Yes, Jesse screwed up, but at least he attempted to live up to his end of the bargain. I guess we'll see what the clean-up entails, but I don't think Walt is capable of killing Krazy 8. So aside from cooking one batch of meth that they never actually sold, what has he contributed?

user-pic

Ahh the coin toss.... To kill or not to kill, that is the question, tis nobler to grab a biodegradable yellow bag and snuff him or mayhap just a little to much qualude in his food. Na... He is going to be incorporated into the duo of dunce heads. Walt has the worst of it now.

default userpic

Walter does.

default userpic

Well Jesse is getting the better deal so far, Walt was the one that had to come up with the money to buy the RV, sneek the chemicals out of the school and get all the supplys needed to cook with, due to the fact Jesse had everything that he had taken away from him by the D.E.A. On top of that Jesse kinda just screws around waiting for Walt to come up with all the Ideas. So far Jesse only had to get the buyers and the 2 he got so far are just one huge problem for the both of them but Walt is having a much bigger problem with it than Jesse is. In light of all that Jesse has the better deal.

default userpic

@Les: I think in the long run you're right that it seems Jesse is getting the better deal. But for now, gosh, doesn't it feel like Walt dumps on him??

user-pic

jesse has the better end he has not much at stake to looseas walt will loose his job and family

default userpic

So far it looks like Jesse is getting the better deal. Walt is the one who initiated their meth-making joint venture. Walt is the one who had the intent and executed the act of injuring the two bad boys with the poisonous gases. And Walt is the one who laid out the plans to "take care of" the dead body and the living "complication."

Walt is the one in charge, giving orders and providing instruction. Jesse is just going along for fear of being turned in to the police by Walt. When the DEA catches up to them, Walt will be the one who will have the longer prison sentence (although he would most likely die before he served even a month). Jesse will one day be released and can have some sort of normal life, even if it's 30-40 years off.

Yes, Walt will die and therefore not have to serve his sentence, but at least Jesse will still be alive though incarcerated. Jesse has a future, while Walt has none.

default userpic

No matter what happens, we are all going to watch Walt die.
Period.

As we have already grown to like Walt and Jesse (and it is only the 2nd episode), we will hurt.

user-pic

Jesse is getting a better deal because Walt will make him more money than he could ever have imagined in his wildest dreams! Case in point: Walt has already saved Jesse's life.

default userpic

Walt is getting the safer deal. Its a matter of connections to distribute the drugs and dealing with shady people such as the in the first episode when Jesse's lab gets raided from a CI's tip and the rip off/murder that almost happened which ended up with a dead person and a hostage. Walt could always claim he had nothing to do with it if he wasn't caught doing the cooking and Jesse would be left holding the bag. Although Jesse's chance's are way better now that he has a mentor to guide him on his way and watch his back. It is a symbiotic relationship no matter who is getting the better deal

default userpic

Walt gets the better deal. At the end of his life, he finally HAS a life, odd as it turns out. Jesse really has the better deal but he's too spaced out to know it.

user-pic

Jesse for sure.

default userpic

walt is a " GOD" to meth user, and jesse he's the wolf in sheeps clothing, just there for the ride.

default userpic

Jesse is getting the deal of a lifetime.

default userpic

walt gets the better deal. his brother is a dea agent who will probably let him off the hook.

user-pic

Hands down killing someone is harder than disposal of a body. And i think that if not for the plate piece missing he would not of been able to go through with it, fantastic writing and very believable.
