Different Versions of Breaking Bad
Many of you have asked about the two different formats of the premiere episode of Breaking Bad.
The following is the official statement from AMC explaining the difference between the two versions, the reasons for them, and what to expect in future episodes:
As part of AMC's commitment to presenting a cinematic and immersive entertainment experience to our audience we prepared two versions of the pilot of Breaking Bad. The first version, which aired at 10PM on Sunday, January 20th was presented without commercial interruption in order to provide an experience that is as immersive and exciting as possible. Subsequent versions of the show have been shown with limited commercial breaks which have required an edit with a shorter run time and a TV-14 Rating.
All episodes after the pilot episode will be presented in one version in all time slots.
You can catch a special encore presentation of the premiere tonight January 24 10PM | 9C

Thank you for the explanation.
I do have one quick question. AMC adds each episode to On-Demand in high def the day after each week's premiere. Does AMC have any plans on having a full-time HD channel? I have Comcast in the Boston area, and I'd love to see this come true!
I'll ask. I would love it too...
Clayton, call me a dummy, but I couldn't ascertain from your explanation whether or not the future showings would be uncut/uncensored only, or edited only. Can you please clarify this for me, and maybe others? Thanks!
@ New Mexico Tam: Future episodes will all have commercials and a TV-14 rating. The premiere episode was a special circumstance.
Ok, I am confused. I had a question about the two versions last week and I appreciate you getting an answer back us fans. But tonight, I watched episode II and it had a TV-MA rating. Here comes the confusion. You stated all future episodes would have a TV-14 rating. Tell us what's going on??? By the way, I'm still loving this show!
Clayton,
I was the only person in my house who was able to see the 2-hr pilot, and several others would like to. Is there any way to get it? Or perhaps (hint hint) will AMC re-air it sometime soon? It was such a great epiosde and we see so much more of the real Walt... I would love to have it saved somewhere.
thanks!
@ txkayrose: Here is the schedule for when we'll be airing the show:

You can also go to iTunes and Unbox (that's Amazon.com's service) to download the episodes.
Hope that helps!
During the repeat last night there was one, uhum, scene that was deleted, which took away part of Walt's character development and made the last scene a non-sequitur. Another scene from the car wash was also deleted. Glad I saw the original pilot. If AMC is only going to air edited episodes, I hope we have the option to download the unedited ones.
Try editing out the right parts of the pilot -- I've already complained - and agree with Michelle. Put back the two key scenes and cut part of the carwash tantrum when Walt quits.
If you have Comcast, you can see it on their On Demand under "TV Entertainment" then go to "AMC".
I really enjoy this series. In the very first, unedited episode, there were a few things I noticed. When Walter was in the desert waiting for the cops to show up, in the background, to the left, above the rock ridge line, something.. a little round black disk, appeared out of nowhere in the distance, and flew forward, then sharply turned left off camera. I know this was not a plane because it DID NOT fly over the ridge.... it appeared in the middle of the sky. I have a DVR, so I rewound and watched it like 15 times, because it was just too weird. I didnt save it to my buffer on the DVR, so I thought I would save it during the second showing. Of course, it was the edited version... the bad language, minor nudity and such was cut out.. as well as the little black disk I saw.
Will that unedited version ever run again??
Has anyone else noticed this??
