Breaking Bad Is Great Television
Just like Deadwood, (speaking of which Anna Gunn played Seth Bullock's wife, and now Walters wife) and The Sopranos, this is classic television drama.
The storyline particularly resonates with me because I have just turned 50, quit smoking, and have an obligation to care for someone that is handicapped. (pulling up the young boys pants in Episode 1 and seeing Walt largely ignored on his 50th Birthday, you get a sense of the end of something that is never coming back.)
So I immediately saw Walt in myself, and feel the desperation he feels, trying to hold it together financially working two jobs in America circa 2008 where there is no respect for what you do.
Watching Walt become passionate for a minute in his lecture, only to be rudely interrupted by the kid flirting, the owner of the car wash having Walt scrub tires for minimum wage, the inevitability of an untimely death due to Cancer pull us in to a world that could happen in real life. The drama is heavy.
Stellar acting and great writing and production!
Wonder Woman 1969, the premeire episode was uncut and uncensored I am not sure why the second airing censored the language, some scenes were cut for commercials for the encore airing which you saw.

breaking bad is the worst concept for a series i have ever seen or heard of. it promotes disrespect for adults, teachers, authorities, and decency.
this series should be cancelled by sponsors and networks.
You are entitled to your opinion but you know what ... if you don't like it just don't watch it ...
AMC is great is having this series but it might get some hard time because of it ... it is censored and playing late ... for adults ...
Where is the harm ...?
You should loosen up ... maybe try some meth LOL
What I would like to also add is "Stellar acting and great writing and production!"
Congrats Breaking Bad.
Breaking bad illustrates the "junky" side of our communities that REALLY EXISTS. BB also adds the crisis in health care and education that REALLY EXISTS. Vince could add an elderly or mentally ill relative that requires long term care to round out the pregnancy, cancer, and disabled son that all are relying on his salary and benefits. Jesse's character could illustrate the kids raised without parents predicament that I have witness dozens of times in my own little world. I love the show and find the irony hilarious. It is probably offensive to those in denial. Maybe if their rental properties get destroyed or their medical insurance gets canceled they will get the situation Walt is in. My favorite so far is when Walt is supposed to kill Crazy 8 but smokes pot and makes him a bologna & cheese sandwich instead. I am laughing so hard my laptop is jiggling.
I'm glad that AMC is repeating the episodes.
I didn't watch the 1st one; I thought it might be
too much like csi type shows. But I did tune in
for the 2nd one and liked it very much. Strong
writing and well acted. AMC is closing the gap
on FX quickly with Mad Men and Bad. The 3
main stations mostly carry "reality" and game
shows-who cares?
BB is a topic long overdue for television and the fact that it is on amc and not fox (not that fox is bad) and that it is on late for adults to watch I see nothing wrong. Also I love that amc is not kidding anyone meth is a dangerous drug that has become the downfall for too many young people and adults. I congratulate amc for this program and even though they will get alot of hate mail this is reality like it or not.
This is my new favorite show. After the end of the Sopranos I felt it would be a long time before I would ever see anything like that again. I am not alone. My wife feels the same and even many of my employees.
Amen luv carz... I like this show better than The Sopranos because it's easier to identify and sympathize with Walt White than Tony Soprano.
The family portrayed are middle class Americans with common problems that we can understand. The desperation that drives the characters aren't so far from our own lives really...and that's the magic.
Breaking Bad has some great Coen Brother'ish aspects in terms of comedy, though Vince does manage to make it his own. Thank you Vince, and may we enjoy this ride for a good long while (season two of course!).
pls1138- Please explain how this show "promotes disrespect for adults, teachers, authority, and decency".
I would say that it PORTRAYS how that respect has reached an all-time low in real life. My father was a high school teacher who died of Lou Gehrigs disease. The "system" milked him out of every hard-earned dollar that he put away in savings. He died penniless, but his funeral was the largest I've ever seen.
Former students came from several states away to pay last respects. Grown men and women openly wept because he made a positive impact on their lives. Those were different times. Nowadays, teachers are not much more than babysitters/ jailers. It's not their fault, but something is rotten in the states of America.

In my opinion, comment 1 by pls1138 has it backwards: Breaking Bad does not promote anything ... it is reflecting what is out there in the Real World. So, object to societal disrespect for "authorities" and object to the use of drugs and rail against the existence of murder. But don't assume that not showing the darker sides of human behavior simply makes it POOF disappear.
As for pls1138's comment 2 -- that the show should be cancelled by sponsors and networks -- means that you think censorship is just fine. Yes? Hate to hear your thoughts on First Amendment free speech issues. Unless, of course, you can prove that someone is strapping you into a Clockwork Orange chair with eye spreaders. And FORCING YOU to watch this show. If that's the case, pls1138, you need to call the police on your roommates.
BB is must-see TV. Walt is the Sh!+. I constantly find myself laughing through every episode -- that sick, nervous laughter when you know that someone is doing something so despicable, but yet you can't help but love them for it. I used to DVR this show so I could watch the episodes the next day. Now I watch it live and DVR it so I can re-watch scenes -- I watched Walt blow up the drug dealers' apartment 10 times. I may go out and shave my head and buy a chemistry book just for kicks! (just kidding folks, no need to call the DEA).
Superb cast, great writing. Excellent storytelling.
Please keep those new episodes coming -- Let's hope this will be a short BREAK, because I need a fix, BAD.
BB is MUST-SEE-TV...unbelievabley awesome!
love the show, keeps us gripped to the tv, was so disappointed to find out that was the last episode...hurry back on...we'll be jonesing for BB on demand...IT rocks!!!!!
Oh please Oh please please make a second season. I LOVE this show. It is so real and so entertaining. It makes me laugh, cry, grip the edge of my seat in anticipation. It's great, and the fact that I am a Chem major makes it all the more worthwhile. I signed up to this site just so I could post here and show my support. The only other shows I like as much as this are House and the Sopranos, but I only watch them when I can. When a new episode of BB is out, I can hardly wait to see the new episode. I couldn't believe the last episode I watched was the last one. I kept looking and looking for a new episode and when I realized there was no more I was devastated!!! I also want to add that the final episode was AWESOME, when Mr. White used the fulminated mercury to blow up Tuco's place I literally jumped up out of my seat and screamed in excitement
Yes I agree that breaking bad is the best show on TV. But I think it’s a bunch of crap when they start a show like this then just stop it. What the hell is wrong with the producers of this show. Seven episodes, what a joke! We have to watch all these dame commercials’ over and over, for what? Seven lousy episodes.
AMC has set the bar! Show the rest of these drivel-pedaling mediocre channels a standard for what ENTERTAINMENT is and ought to be. Every scene is either haunting, memorable or humorous. How did we get lucky enough to see BB without subscribing to a premium channel? Guess I shouldn't question a gift . . .
Cranston is riveting as he steps back and forth between the two worlds. He's made obviously one bad decision after another, and none of them could be good for his family . . . but wait. Although it's not how we're supposed to handle bad things in life, who did not cheer in the family shopping scene when Walter, to his family's wide-eyed surprise, stomped the nasty, loudmouthed punk guy in the clothing store after he and his friends were unrelenting in loudly making fun of Walt's son who has cp. I got from this scene that it wasn't the first time loudmouthed jerks had made fun of him and Walt and his family for years, had turned the other cheek.
Skyler is watching meek and mild Walt turn aggressive, sexually, also. So far Walt's new nothing-to-lose attitude has somewhat been a surprise, and not unwelcomed by her. Where is this going? I suspect that she's gonna be angered at some point by this new side of Walt (other than the unaccounted for times he's gone).
Thanks AMC for having the cahonies to air BB - Thanks for letting ALL the characters be more than one-dimensional (how could anyone not see the human side of Crazy 8?), changing the timing pace for scenes such as "Meet the Pinkmans" to allow for layers to build, and OMG, the irreverent humor.
I'm a member of a local Albuquerque band. We had a few songs that would be great for this show. We're not looking to get rich, we're just big fans.
