Breaking Bad Could Be Dangerous
I posted this on another forum but I really think Breaking Bad could be a very dangerous show to have on TV during a post-SiCKO, recessionary presidential election year.
SiCKO was about the UNDERinsured as evidenced by Walter's ambulance ride. You mean to tell me that a teacher wouldn't have better health coverage??? It's one thing for a MILF-y Jewish widow to get into the weed game but we CANNOT have middle class, white men moonlighting at minimum wage jobs being pushed to the edge and going off the grid. It only took three weeks for Walter to go from veggie bacon to standing in the middle of the desert in his underwear with a gun.
Walter really could be your kid's chemistry teacher--or your neighbor. How many Walters are out there who are perilously close to foreclosure or defaulting on credit cards? Or just one serious illness or accident away from financial ruin? Like Walter's brother-in-law said, meth is easy money until you get caught.
Whether it was done consciously or not, the pilot episode touched on some very real issues that Americans are dealing with. And that's why I'll be watching Sunday night!

not only have you landed the best tv show on time warner cable, but you have given me hope for the future of tv. this show has edge, and also a great actor. please push as much funds as you can towards this show. breaking bad is the grunge outbreak of tv. awesome job,

Who will work with me CSI Miami had a Meth lab on last night too. Lets get that crazy show of the air. OHHHH MYYYYY! Seriously great show, great plot. By the way there is a button on your remote that changes the channel.
Ranks right up there with Dexter, Weeds, and something else I am forgetting.
OMG I love this show!!! I was up late watching another AMC movie program when Breaking Bad popped up. I love Malcolm in the Middle (especially Bryan Cranston’s role) and had to watch this chemistry teacher go crazy.
Awesome show AMC! Can't wait until next week.
Ohmacron - I am glad you feel the same about Bryan's pants. The man, like Will Ferrel, has no shame! In this case, though, I think it's important for his desperate pathetic nature. Now that I think about it, Walter and Malcolm's dad could be the same person, at different times in this life. As I recall, if the Dad character had continued, he really might have ended up like Walt!
Great show; great acting; great writing. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise; especially all the calls for censorship. As someone said, by doing this show you bring hope to the future of TV. More Power to AMC!! (Now, if you would only quit butchering old films with your "editing!")
Great show and your right the topics this show hits on are very true from healthcare to meth as one of the biggest problems in our society. I cant wait to see how they go deeper into alot of troubling issues that are wrong with our government and with addiction.
