Actor Mark Margolis plays Hector "Tio" Salamanca, on AMC's Breaking Bad. In this exclusive interview, he talks about why he was terrified of Giancarlo Esposito the first time they met and how he came up with Tio's signature twitch.

Q: Tell me about the scene at Don Eladio's house in Episode 8, "Hermanos." It must have been somewhat of a reunion: You acted with Steven Bauer in Scarface, and Giancarlo Esposito said the three of you had been in a play together.

A: Yeah, we were all in a gorgeous production of Balm in Gilead, around 1984 at a theater in Greenwich Village. And it was directed by John Malkovitch, and had people like Gary Sinise in it and Laurie Metcalf and on and on. At that time Giancarlo Esposito was a very young actor -- I'd never seen him in my life. He played this street kid that hung out in this alleyway that my character had to pass through, and he would come at me with a real knife. He scared the s--t out of me because I couldn't tell whether this was a terrific actor, or some crazy who they put in the play.

Q: What was it like being reunited with Steven Bauer?

A: When I came out to New Mexico to do the episode they said they had a surprise for me -- it turned out to be Steven Bauer. He did some great things on set. All the lines were in Spanish but he stuck in the words when he said something about methamphetamines. He said that's the stuff that's used by "Heelbeeelies and Bikers." Instead of Spanish, he stuck in the English, which was very witty.

Q: Do you speak Spanish? Tio has a pretty believable accent.

Breaking Bad Receives CAS Award Nomination

This morning, the Cinema Audio Society announced their nominees for the 48th Annual CAS Awards and Breaking Bad's Darryl L. Frank, Jeffery Perkins, and Eric Justen have been honored with a nod in the Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing, Television Series category.

The nomination, the first for Breaking Bad, is for their work on Season 4 Episode 13, "Face Off". Also competing in the Television Series category are HBO's Boardwalk Empire, Showtime's Dexter, HBO's Game of Thrones, and AMC's own The Walking Dead.

The Cinema Audio Society is a philanthropic, non-profit organization formed in 1964 for the purpose of sharing information with sound professionals in the motion picture and television industry. Members include Mixers (production and post production, film and video) who work on feature films, television, and commercials; Mixers who specialize in music scoring, video post sweetening, A.D.R. and Foley; Sound Specialists such as sound editors, technicians, recordists, and microphone boom operators; and companies in the audio and video fields.

The awards will be presented during a dinner on Sat., Feb. 18th at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

AMC's sister network, Sundance Channel, has announced that Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston will appear on an episode of their original series, The Mortified Sessions.

The Mortified Sessions features celebrities and other notable guests sharing anecdotes from their youth and talking through "mortifying" artifacts from their childhood such as awkward photos, diary entries, embarrassing drawings, and more, providing unique and revealing insights into how each person became who they are today. During his illuminating episode, Bryan Cranston reveals to host David Nadelberg that as a kid he actually dreamed of being a police officer, but as an adult has ended up becoming famous for playing someone on the other side of the law.

Breaking Bad Editors Kelley Dixon and Skip MacDonald Land ACE Eddie Award Nominations

The American Cinema Editors have announced their nominees for the 62nd Annual ACE Eddie Awards honoring excellence in film and television editing, and Breaking Bad editors Kelley Dixon and Skip MacDonald have both been honored with nods in the Best Edited One-Hour Series for Commercial Television category.

Dixon and MacDonald were nominated for their work on Season 4 Episode 12, "End Times" and Season 4 Episode 13, "Face Off", respectively. The nomination is the second for Dixon, the first for MacDonald, and Breaking Bad's fourth and fifth nominations overall. Dixon and MacDonald will face off against Friday Night Lights' Angela M. Catanzaro; The Good Wife's Hibah Frisina; and Hunter Via from AMC's own The Walking Dead.

American Cinema Editors (ACE) is an honorary society of motion picture editors founded in 1950. Film editors are voted into membership on the basis of their professional achievements, their dedication to the education of others and their commitment to the craft of editing.

The awards will be presented during a ceremony on Sun., Feb. 18 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

The Directors Guild of America has announced their nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television for 2011. Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan was honored with a nomination in the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series category for his work on the Season 4 finale, "Face Off." This is Gilligan's first DGA nomination.

The nomination was one of two nods in the category for AMC: Patty Jenkins was also nominated for her work on The Killing's Season 1 premiere, "Pilot."

Gilligan and Jenkins will face off against Michael Cuesta (Homeland, "Pilot," Showtime), Tim Van Patten (Game of Thrones, "Winter is Coming" [Pilot], HBO), and Michael Waxman (Friday Night Lights, "Always" [Series Finale], NBC).

The Visual Effects Society (VES) has announced their nominees for the 10th Annual VES Awards, and Breaking Bad's Bruce Branit, Werner Hahnlein, Gregory Nicotero, and William Powloski have been honored with a nod in the Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Broadcast Program category.

The nomination, the first for Breaking Bad, is for their work on Season 4, Episode 13, "Face Off." Also competing in the category are HBO's Boardwalk Empire, Fox's Bones, HBO's Game of Thrones, and ABC's Pan Am.

The Visual Effects Society, comprised of a diverse group of more than 2,300 members in 26 countries, is the entertainment industry's only organization representing the full breadth of visual effects practitioners including artists, technologists, model makers, educators, studio leaders, supervisors, PR/marketing specialists and producers in all areas of entertainment from film, television and commercials to music videos and games.

The awards ceremony will take place on Tue., Feb. 7 at the Beverly Hilton (also home to the Golden Globes), and will be broadcast on the ReelzChannel.
