My insight du jour about last night's encore episode:

I think this episode was trying to point out the parallels between Walt's relationship with Skyler and his relationship with Jesse. In a sense he's now in two "marriages," going through all the intense emotions such a relationship involves, both good and bad. That came across particularly well in the scenes near the end, when Walt and Jesse got into that terrible physical fight and then a few minutes later, Walt was asking Jesse if he wanted breakfast.

Making someone breakfast seems to be a recurring motif in "Breaking Bad" for showing someone you care about them. I noticed it the first time around this season, when Jesse so lovingly cooked breakfast for Jane, and last night was reminded that a very similar scenario had happened earlier in the season, with those scenes of Walt making breakfast for Skyler and Walter, Jr.

"Cooking," whether it's food to nourish their bodies or meth to provide money for their future, is how Walt shows love for his family.

Also tying into the marriage theme is the concept of secrets. In any kind of "marriage," keeping a secret from your partner creates big problems, as both pairings- Walt/Skyler and Walt/Jesse - are learning the hard way.
