Talk Forum - What You're Saying

AMCtv.com awards its Talk forum commenters quoted in our weekly "What You're Saying" post with prizes like a Breaking Bad baseball hat or a Breaking Bad t-shirt (limit one per person).
Some of the questions that had Breaking Bad fans talking this week: Does Walt really need to keep cooking, and how much does he need Skyler in his life? The debate also continues over Donald, and whether he intentionally caused the season-ending plane crash.
• "I think Walt is addicted to the allure of the 'Easy Money'. Let's face it, there are some hoops to jump through, but Walt is a smart guy and provided he can keep Jesse in line, he has a solid business partner [in] Gus." -- R.W.
• "They are going to have to create a reason for Walt to continue cooking. Because right now, it doesn't seem like there would be any reason to continue down that road." -- silent
• "I think it would be great for the plot of season 3 if Walt and Skyler stay separated. bUT I think Ted (the character not the actor) is a putz, and Skyler and him should only get together if it gives Walt incentive to kill him and get him off the show." -- Hank Jr.
• "I'm just wondering if Walt and Skyler should be together in Season 3. Maybe it's more realistic for them to be living apart! They would still have plenty of contact as they have two children and maybe Walt eventually comes to Skyler's rescue as she becomes more involved in the money issues at her work. This would certainly free Walt up to become more involved and to come to grips with his criminal side." -- Nimrod1313
• "The collision avoidance system and the ATC would be two of the three known redundant systems, the third being the pilot's vision. There may even be another that we don't know of here... it was mentioned that such an accident has only happened once in aviation history. I can't quite swallow that it was just an accident. I think there was more going on there than we know of yet." -- tpkelly72

I had my suspicions that Donald did not really cause the collision, it could just be a classic mis-direction. Instead, it is a possibility that some other element was involved, possibly a suicidal pilot??
I beliieve that Walt hads made a full transformation into his alter ego Hiessenberg, because this has happened Skylar might not be he best thing for Walt. THroughout the season she was always what kept him somewhat innocent, and prevented him from cooking more often. Without kylar Walt could cook much more and make alot more money.
Thanks for randomly selecting me. I'm a big guy any chance on getting a 2XL t-shirt. Thanks
I do believe Walt will keep cooking now that Skylar left. Why not! I don't think that Walt needs Skylar, she's a bitch. I really do belive that Donald Just lost it and got confused when he said Jane. He seems to be in a thick fog.
Hi Carolyn, Thank you for choosing my comment. I'm like Hank Jr. and will be requiring a 2XL size if possible. If you do not have a 2XL Tee shirt, I would more than happy to settle for a 2XL Hoodie? Many Thanks again, R.W.
I like watching old movies, some of them are better than the new ones but why are you re-running the same movies all the time? There are thousands of other good, old movies. Why do you think that everyone is dying to watch
Fistful of Dollars for example, again, and again and again and again and again..... Maybe I missed to remember how someone moved a finger but hey guys, this is too much. I am getting sick of these same old movies.... Not everyone has a Parkinson's disease and needs to watch the same movie so many times again EVERY week....

Does Walt really need to keep cooking?
I have a feeling in the start of season 3, they will come up with a reason for him to keep cooking.. maybe he loses all of his money and Skyler.
How much does he need Skyler in his life?
If he loses Skyler, than he will have even less reason to justify his actions.. He obviously still needs her greatly, because he falls apart just when she stops talking to him.
Did Donald intentionaly cause the plane crash?
I am not even completely convinced it was his fault.. the NTSB hasn't investigated yet and there are other factors that could have played an important part in the trajic event... If it turns out it was his fault, then I don't think it was initential at all, Donald does not come off as that type of person, you can tell by his actions that he is a very caring individual.
The full comment that I made said exactly that. When we are quoted in "What You're Saying", our comments are often abridged and/or slightly edited, mainly for space I'm guessing. The original post was one in a heavily technical and precise thread detailing how absurdly unlikely such an accident is. It included a full line-by-line breakdown and interpretation of Donald's lingo. His actions were by the book, without error or malice. My point was that the crash was neither an accident or in any way related to Donald's actions....as someone said above, it was basic misdirection. We have absolutely no information yet as to what really caused the crash.

It was nice of them to make extra sure that my post got posted. The rest of the time, I gotta submit them three or four times before they go through. :)
Walt will keep coming for possibly two reasons
1. He is to addicted to the easy lifestyle and likes making money this easily.
2. Gus, now that he knows about Walts real life, is going to black mail him for more, especially since its sold for so much
Walt will need to still cook. He's seen the underside of life and has crossed over. He's not the innocent Walt the teacher anymore. He's killed, he's cooked, he's evaded the police, and he's told more lies than he can keep track of. Walt is transformed into Heisenberg. He lives for the thrill now. He needs to keep cooking not only for the money, but for the thrill that keeps him feeling alive.
As for whether he needs Skylar in his life, yes. He needs Skylar because she is important for his cover as a simple bumbling chemistry teacher. If he goes on without her, he's going to be more open to scrutiny from his BIL Hank. As long as he and Hank are brothers in law, Hank can't see Walt for what he has become. He's got "street cred" as a husband, teacher, and father, an all around straight up guy. If he loses Skylar, he loses that too.
tj - Walter White, "An all around straight up guy". Damn that's good!
btw..congrats to the winners of the T-shirt, Nimrod,Silent, Hank Jr.,tpkelly72, and R.W.!!!
I think Walt will come up with any excuse to cover up his lie, but he can't stop either cooking or having Skylar. He needs both because he just had a daughter, and he is not 100% safe to live, and still needs to pay bills. Also he is getting used to the easy lifestyle with his drug money.
I belive Donald did not meen to cause the airplane crash. He came back to work to early after what happened to Jane, and by doing so he was to fustrated to know what he was doing at the time.
